Excellent headphones for the money.

Very good for the price. Excellent sound quality.

The only minus I can think of is that the ear pads wear out quite fast and that makes the headphones a little bit uncomfortable in the long run but you can always buy replacements.

Shocking good sound quality for the price point!

Rather exciting piece of headphones!

Although they have advertised 250 Ohms impedance you average smartphone can drive them pretty well to painfully strong sound pressure level. The caveat however is that if you pair them with a simple amplifier you will unleash the beast <1KHz. I was pleasantly surprised when I first tried them on my phone, then thrilled on my audio interface Komplete 2, finally the HA4 "KOMPLETED" the circle of audio pleasure. I compared them directly to Custom One Pros, Marshall Major and K-701 all four driven from the same source - Komplete 2 + HA4. I equalised the volume to the best of my perception and the DT 990s wiped the the floor with the competition.

Sound: 5 stars - NO DOUBT ABOUT! (Metal, rock, classical music listener here)

Comfort: 5 stars - Pretty fluffy ear cups. I wear glasses and my deal breaker is that the headphones do not press my ears too hard against the frame of the glasses. I do however fear that during summer the ear cups will be a bit too warm.

Quality: 4 stars - Overall pretty solid BQ. I do not like the way that metal brackets on both sides are attached to the head band (Mechatronics engineer's inner voice says - FLIMSAAY!). Luckily ALL parts can be ordered as spares from beyer when they break. I am also not of fan of the fixed cable... that should've been a detachable 3.5mm jack like many other less expensive headphones. The cable itself is a bit of overkill sized gauge telephone coil. It is massively thick and heavy and absolutely not portable. It's not a big problem for stationary setups but please take in into account for portable intentions - they are not.

Solid open headphones

Using for guitar practice and recording, sounds great.

Good headphones

Good sound quality, comfortable, even at the high impedance, ok with my Octatrack and with my synths. Very happy with these headphones, super happy considering the price. I have other headphones 5 times and 10 times more expensive, but they are not significantly better!

For the price, you can't get better.

Price to Accuracy? 3 thumbs up!

The Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO are slightly better critical listening headphones than its brother DT 770 PRO, thanks to its open-back design. I had 770 for a long time and now finally I got this gem in my hand. Both headphones are similarly built and are comfortable. They are practically the same headphones, but the 990 are open and the 770 are closed-backs.

For me 990 appear to be more consistent in term of frequency response every time I re-positioned (the 990) and re-play the same test track.

About the accuracy, the easiest way to express this is like when I'm driving and it's raining LIGHTLY, so the windshield with wipers off is 770 and windshield with wipers on is 990.

Pros? Open back.

Cons? Open back.

Happy ears = happy mood

Great headphones!

I use them for home producing at home. This is a great option for writing and mixing any kind of music. Of course, for such a price, they will not replace you with an expensive monitoring system in the studio, but at home this is enough. They have a solid metal structure, comfortable ear pads and a headband. I am pleased with them. This is what I need

Best headphones I've ever tried. And closest to real desk speakers too. I'm getting confused sometimes is it from headphones or from the speakers.

I have Superlux hd 660 too and DT-990 is way better in all things, not just sound (which is way better too).

Thought I'd be hating cable, but it's ok.

great product

I am using them at home for just about everything, from watching movies to recording music.

The sound is great, they are very comfortable, and after 3 years of 8h a day use, they still look and work like new.

10/10 would buy again,

10/10 would recommend to just about anyone

I tried to think of something negative to say about them, but i couldn't. I wouldn't trade them for anything.

I use this headphones for mixing and listening to music. The box is simple and the headphones feel light although the cable has some weight to it.

They are really enjoyable to listen to and you get a lushy, rounded sub-bass; smooth mids and a big bright high-end. For me it took quite a learning curve to get used to their sub region as they can be tricky. The subs are so smooth that it's really to over do them when mixing. Of course this should be more a reference listening tool rather than mixing from scratch with them.

TL;DR:

Pros :

. Very balanced and pleasant to listen to;

. The open back makes them really easy to use for hours in low volumes;

. Lightweight;

Cons:

. Feel a bit fragile, makes a popping sound when putting them on, experienced this in a few units but it doesn't seem harmful for the structure;

. A bit high-end heavy;

. In high volumes sound a bit unbalanced with predominating subs and highs, yet enjoyable.

I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't personally choose any other pair of headphones for this price.

Best studio headphones

Very comfortable, good sounding professional studio headphones. I can sit in these headphones literally all day.

headphones are definitely on the bright side, i'd say they are a little bit too bright, the bass is not much, but its enough (unless you are a bass-head).

build quality 3/4 out of 5, because plastic size regulators feel cheap, a little bit of a wiggle, fortunately, they are replaceable.

overall, imo, they feel pretty close to neutral sound, and comfort is great, because they are very light. might feel a little bit weird after closed back headphones.

Great headphones for studio and HIFI

If you really want to hear everything and anything, this headphones is the one you should consider. Detailed sound quality with no dominant highs and/or lows.

High ohm great advantage in these jobs

the headset is a complete lottery. But you may leave the road; as the ohms decreases, the volume increases, thd increases, but as the ohm rises, the volume decreases, but thd decreases the sound, the cleaner comes and the restability increases.

With this logic, I preferred the 250 ohms version. I would prefer the 600 ohm version if it was in stock.

So I knew what to hear before buying the headset. I just couldn't guess the frequency response. Did not regret beyerdynamics.

The ears are airing because the sides are open. I don't think there's anything else as important as ear on a headset. Comfort is quite comfortable.

The upper frequencies are not harsh but the presence is pronounced.

The stereo field could have been a bit wider.

From the moment you wear it is very quiet and comfortable.

The lower frequencies are organic when listening from a speaker. Test benchmark made with dac1. I'm satisfied.

Extraordinary Clarity and Inspiring Bass Response

Outstanding performers for studio work - I can't imagine wanting anything more. And the price makes these a splendid value!

Very good headphones!

I bought them for mixing, after reading a lot of reviews about which headphones are best for this.

I am really impressed with the sound,

They are very comfortable (I have glasses and my head doesn't hurt even after several hours of use)

I like the cable and the fact that It has a 3.5'' TRS connector with a screwable 6.35'' adapter. I bought the 250 Ohm version and although some wrote that because of the high impedance it might not be loud enough when using it with a laptop, I find the maximum volume level is more than enough.

The only thing I don't really like are the metal earpiece holders. They seem a bit cheap and make a scary click when you move the earpieces, as if something wanted to break :) You only normally adjust them once anyway, so not a big deal, but it's something that might need to be improved.

Love them

I think these headphones sound and feel great. They are comfortable to use over long periods of time. I use them to reference and work on my mixes. As they are open-backed I would avoid using them to monitor when recording (there will be spill into the mic). Highly recommend.
