Daddario PW-CT-12 Micro Headstock Tuner Reviews
Small but sturdy
I believe it is the best headstock tuner for this price.
It is accurate and has a builtin metronome.
Pros. It is very small. As far as I have tested it is accurate. Very easy to use. Has battery saver - it will turn it self off after some time. Clear display even in sunlight. Decent buttons. Easy to mount on your guitar. Last but not least it has a visual metronome. Battery is easy to change no screwdriver needed.
Cons. So far I haven't discover any negative aspects.
If you are looking for a small mettlesome tuner you should try this one.
accurate and discrete tuning
I've always had mixed feeling about headstock tuners, and always prefer to use a pedal or rack tuner. I got this to have as a back-up in my gig bag, but it is so discrete, that I've just left it on my main electric guitar. I would still use a tuner pedal on gigs, but this is great for checking tuning in the dressing room, or just when I'm playing at home without a pedal board, or acoustically.
Like - smallest headstock tuner I've seen, but still accurate.
Dislike - still not s accurate as a good pedal tuner.
I love this little tuner!
I like it, it's very responsive, even with bass guitar or low tuned electric guitars, it actually faster than a tuner pedal I have. I recommend it!
Very Accurate
I've changed a cheap tuner for this and the difference totally worth the cost. This is a very good tuner, i'm using with 4/5 string basses.
love these things
i already had two of these - one for each of my guitars. so of course i bought this one to go with the new harley benton sc450+ so all my guitars have their very own tuner. does its job. it's the only tuner i use.
Small and good tuner
I have one of these on almost all my guitars. Its very practical and they work impeccably.
As I use them for Guitalele and ukulele it would of course be nice to have a fixed setting for these or the exact number of the tone(A2, G3 etc.)
Love these little guys
I have several of these that I just keep on my instruments headstock. No complaints. Only suggestion would be to offer an even simpler version with just 1 or 2 buttons (on/off, and orientation), for those of use that don't need anything else. When gigging, it's nice to have something that just works and can't be accidentaly misconfigured.
pes très précis par rapport à d'autres modèles
Small Efficient and Amazing
It is really small and, if seen from a distance, you can barely see it when set behind the headstock (the best way to use it).
Works really well!
Pros:
- Amazingly easy setting the "ground" A tone (from 410 up to 480 hertz)
- Set the viewing upside-down (useful in various occasions)
- Built-in visual metronome ranging from 20 up to 270 bpm. Awesome feature for gigs where you should get a tempo before starting to play.
- Easy to migrate from tuner to metronome, just press the M button to have the visual metronome and then hold the button to get back to the tuner.
Couldn't find any cons.
Not what I expected.
I bought this product because I saw many people using it. Also I bought it because It looks discreet. Most headstock tuners look bad. I can say that it is dicreet and looks beautiful in the headstock. Also it has nice features. However there are things that make me hesitant to recomend it. Compared to other headstock tuners i've tried, It keeps falling. Also in a live situation it doesn't work. This is an issue with most headstock tuners. However other products do better. Last but not least, when i tried to take it off, it ruined my fender decal. If you pin it, keep it away from the decal.
Good, good, good...
This tiny little tuner has a great response time and works well even in noisy situations. One added bonus is that unlike other clip-on tuners this one isn't a complete eyesore.
small, easy and effective
Fits and hides well in every headstock (guitar, bass, ukulele, etc). Tuning is fast and precise enough
Gadget
So far, so good
So far, so good. The display is readable, I'm not entirely sure how to affix it on to the headstock of a Strat, but I'll figure it out. ;)
Surprisingly small, highly capable
This little tuner is great. I was surprised by how small it is and it tucks away nicely under my headstock. The display is super easy to read and it has a handy little feature that flips the orientation of the screen depending on whether I've got it mounted above or below the headstock. As an added bonus, there's a metronome feature. I don't use it, but maybe it's useful to some.
Two little issues, however... The display 'flashes' when not used for a few seconds. I don't know what that means or how to turn that 'feature' off. Also, changing the battery is not difficult once you figure out how, but it's not immediately obvious how to do so.
It's a great little gadget and I use it all the time.
Physical design and construction is weak
Update, I've got rid of these, they just don't respond to the low frequencies.
At first glance this a great little tuner because it is very small and accurate, possibly the most compact one available. And the display rotates electronically so you never have to read it upside down, wherever you mount it.
But the ratchet clip holding it to the headstock is weak and will spring off, I've lost one that way.
In the end I decided I wanted the unobtrusive small size so I took off the clip and fixed the body of the tuner to the rear of my headstock with Sugru, just behind the nut. This worked brilliantly, a permanent tuner on the guitar with nothing visible to the audience, easy to operate and read. But after a while the body of the tuner just came apart, they are held together with a snap fit which became weakened..
So I've bought another and this time I'll wipe a bit of Sugru into the seams to bond them together. Great product let down by poor construction.
Good but not excellent
This tuner is great for instruments that resonate well such as my acoustics and ukulele. But it has trouble with electric insturments that don't resonate well in the upper register of the strings. It does quite work well on bass though. Don't buy this as a sole tuning device on electric guitar but as an addition (like I do) for live situations or on the fly adjustments.
Very good tuner!
It does the job, it is very small and invisible in the back of the head stock but allways in your site. The metronome is useful, if you need it and the fact that it turns green when you find the note is very helpful.
Really useful tuner
I first came across this tuner when I attended a guitar clinic in September run by Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal of Guns 'n' Roses fame.
He had one attached to his Vigier twin-neck signature guitar and used it most effectively.
When I got home, I researched it on the web to find that it had a great reputation and was very good value.
I bought one almost immediately. I stays on my strat-style guitar all the time (even when it's in the case) and works very well. I particularly like the fact that it it is sensitive and responsive and - unlike other clip-on tuners - handles the low E-string with finesse!
And I don't need to get a tuner out when I'm practising. I'm also planning a stripped down pedal-board - without a tuner!
Daddario PW-CT-12
It's not as cheap as some other similar devices, but I think it's worth it. Simple compact tuner that will settle on the headstock of your guitar from first day and until death do you part)
