Definitely your buddy!

Bought it twice, sold it twice. I am gonna buy it again for sure. Now for eurorack purposes. All of the pros and cons are available after years, so my personal view: mono sampling - not good, not terrible; sequencer - best one for me with trig conditions; sound quality - nice; diving into machines, sample alteration, sample crazy demolition, track building - way to go, thumbs up.

Gold star!

Elektron super product

Amazing

Definitely a learning curve especially if you’re new to electronic music like I was when I bought it, but definitely worth learning. The workflow is amazing and once you get the basics you’ll be turning out beats in no time. I’ve had this for about two years and I’m still learning about new things you can do with it.

Fun machine

I always thougt the Digitakt was pricey. After finally saving up for one, It really does a lot despite its sample memory limitation!

I wouldn't really call it a sample machine since its tiny internal memory can barely hold a full track, but where it lacks, it makes up by being amazing at sample mangling.

A gift that keeps on giving

Bought a Digitakt almost two years ago and my way of looking at electronic music production and workflow will never be the same again. I've grown a lot with it. The immediacy of the sequencer just sparks ideas and helps me comb trough ideas for patterns.

Not to mention all the huge system changes that Elektron have made during this time. This powerbox has pretty much doubled in it's capabilities since it's first release.

Magic Box

It's been a while since I purchased a Drum Machine and it was worth the wait.

The more I learn about it, the better this little box gets.

There are a few things about the way it works that may make you scratch your head and wonder, but once you get used to the ways of Elektron--you find the benefits far outweigh any limitations.

It is not difficult to explore and you can be making music right away, following the trusty manual--but this little box is deep. I imagine there will still be new things to discover months and years from now.

Overbridge has been working flawlessly as stand alone (Win10/64) and in my DAW, Studio One 5, and really helps out a lot. Also working well in Reaper 6, but I did not test it for very long.

Keeps getting better

Had mine for some time now, and I can’t ever see myself parting with it. It’s become an incredibly flexible and powerful machine, and the sound quality is absolutely incredible. Tip: Approach it on it’s own terms and let it be what it is. Forget your expectations and enjoy the instrument for what it is.

Great sounding engine and depth that can be explored with scuba equipment.

Imagine a time with no computers at all. but everything exists as it exists today. This is now the centerpiece of not just your ideas, but he DAW.

The only con I would mention is that there is no FULL SONG MODE (patterns can be chained and thusly somewhat make a full track) , which for this price range I think that should be included, even if Elektron needs to add another +DRIVE for that purpose.

Amazing Amazing Anyways!

A Mini Beast

Digitakt does not have the latest multi-touch LCD screen, or fancy colored pads, not even an SD card drive. It has a mechanical look to it with clicky buttons and lots of knobs. But don’t let that austere exterior fool you. This box has been around for a while, but it still stays at the top of the heap because there is so much depth to it, and it doesn’t go “out of fashion” so easily like others. Although it is fully digital, there’s a visceral and organic connection into this box that makes your music making feel more alive. It doesn’t make it easy for you with loads of features, and it is well known Elektron boxes actually frustrates you when you first pick it up. But, like learning to play any instrument, once you spend more time with it you begin to gain skills that can bring out sonic powers unlike any other boxes you’ve owned.

Great, for someone else

Had it for while and then sold it. Didn't enjoy the workflow. And those clicking buttons where driving me mad. Felt like punching on a typewriter. I much prefer programming drums on the computer. Much faster and more flexible. This thing really should have a song mode. As for over bridge: impressive concept, but didn't see the point. If I were to buy a new drum machine, I'd rather have something with more analogue outs.

Creative little jewel

I'm really quite astonished at what's packed into this little box. Yes, it can be faulted - it doesn't quite have all the features you want (but bear in mind that the features you want are different from the features that the person next to you wants.)

But...the sheer tweakability and creativity is wonderful. Take time to explore. Watch the YouTube videos which loads of people have made. The Digitakt, a mic, a line-in instrument. Hours and hours of fascination.

A joy to look at, maybe not to play.

Beautifully made with a high-quality feel.

But the software/ workflow is a real pain.

Tbh, not having a song mode makes this instrument feel like an expensive toy. In this day and age, I shouldn't have to buy their flagship product for over 1k to have something worth gigging.

What is this instrument for? Composing is a pain (use an MPC or DAW), live is a hassle (Use an Octatrack... if you can afford it).

Elektron shot themselves in the foot here by trying to keep the Digitakt from competing with the Octatrack.

My new favorite instrument

I held of from getting a Digitakt for a long while. I owned the Octatrack (MK1) for a few months before selling it, as at that time I just couldn't get myself to learn it. Digitakt is a different kind of beast. not entirely, but in large capacity. It's very intuitive and in the meanwhile teaches you the Elektron workflow, so I ended up craving after Octatrack too.

The build is metal and as solid as ever, it feels like it will last for ever. The screen is bright and nicely yellow. All around a nice industrial design expected from Elektron devices.

This is more than just a drum machine/computer. You can make full tracks and even sets on the Digitakt if you dive deep enough - and that is just the thing, you can dive as deep as you wish, or stay on the surface. Either way you will get your money's worth.

Recommended.

Absolutely amazing

The Digitakt was my very first piece of hardware and i absolutely fell in love with it. The sound & the sequencer are godlike, it's not a simple drum machine, it's a monster.

best buy

Although not the easiest machine to learn, def the most versatile. Very happy with this machine, still much to learn.
