Elixir Nanoweb Light 5-stars Reviews
Really great coated strings , really do last !
So I have really acidic sweat , like a three hour rehearsal or 1 gig is enough to trash a set of regular strings .
Elixir Nanowebs are now my "go to" strings .
Personally I cann feel any difference to regular strings , some people think they feel slightly slippery , in my book that is a benefit as they're a bit 'quicker' .
They certainly last longer than normal strings and lose very little tone over the course of their life , still working for me after 4 rehearsals and a gig .
So well worth the extra outlay.
Lasting, sounding, lasting, sounding, ...
... lasting, sounding - that's what they are made for and what they do! Elixirs are widely known for being one of the longest lasting strings produced and they are not disappointing me.
I tried different brands and kinds of strings, but I always come back to 10-46 Elixirs. I use standard tuning with these strings and I'm lazy. I didn't change strings very often and still I don't. But no problem with these strings! For normal use these last up to one year and still are sounding good. A new set of Elixirs then only gives back extra brightness.
I don't say these are the best sounding strings, because they have quite much treble when fresh, which gets a little better/less after some weeks/months. Just a matter of taste. Also they feel a little slippery at first, because other strings get a little sticky after some time. On the other hand sliding works very well - and still after a year!
Miricale in durability with a little more treble - which both can be to your favor!
Love them!
I have a lot of love for these strings... I gig my electrics pretty heavily, and the Elixirs give me a longer lasting tone, and for a guitarist who breaks strings often, a feeling of reliability! Costlier, but getting less so in relation to other, lesser strings, and well worth it!
Go-to strings...
These are my go-to strings for my electric guitar. They sound amazing and are built to last. Sure, they are a little more expensive then other brands but I think this is offset by their longevity.
Having tried numerous brands on the market, I won't be buying anything other than Elixirs!
Best
Best place for strings on the web. Best strings for regular gigging in terms of quality and longevity.
Little good Strings
For me the best strings of the market, high strength, and super durable.
I had a set of these that lasted one year, no rust or problems, quite like the sound of these strings, custumo always advise these strings. Now I experiementar the 0:11 for my telecaster, I think it will improve the lack of bass.
Long lasting
So, I really like these strings. In guitars that I don't play so often, I use Elixir, to ensure I won't be replacing the strings very often. In some cases, I have used the same set for over 6 months, with light playing. The sound is crisp and bright, which I like. The only reason why I don't use them in my day to day guitar is the price: because I like to change often strings, even though these do last longer, I still prefer a lower cost brand.
Slick and responsive
These strings will last for a long time and still feel very slick and smooth to the touch. Sweaty hands can ruin strings, especially during the summer months, but with the Elixirs I get months of use and they still sound great. I'm using these on a Les Paul at the moment and the sustain is lovely!
Essential strings
These are the only strings that can withstand my caustic sweat, and that alone makes them essential. Every other brand of string I've tried just didn't cut it and went dead within a few hours. These strings last me for a few weeks at least, and sound really good too.
elixir strings
For me personally these are the only strings i buy and always recommend them to anybody for the main reason they do not get dirty no rust no dead skin nothing as long as you play the guitar regualary these strings are perfect.
I discovered elixirs 5 years ago as i was sick and tired of replacing my strings on my guitar every week as my sweat would rust the strings up and make them horrid to play on and make the tone dead.
With elixir they withstand my sweat and anything else ie beer or water and stop me changing my strings from once a week to 1 every 3 months and i am a very busy musician playing a gig at least 3 times a week and then practice on top.
plus they last really long longer than any other none coated strings and they very rarely loose their tone unless you have them on a really long time or play your guitar to death.
no cons to this product in my opinion only pros a must buy
nice price and still going...
brilliant strings, put them on my part time guitar, aria pro ts500, they sound great even after a month of playing on and off, not quite as clear as a standard set but not a bad trade off for the length of time they remain in good tone.
haven't used a string cleaner on them in case it breaks down the coating..
Last For Ages
First tried a set of Elixirs about 8 moths ago. They are still on the guitar and going strong. These strings have amazing longevity. When first fitted, the wound strings don't sound quite as bright as uncoated strings but do sound good. They then continue to sound good with no discermible degradation whatsoever.
In spite of being regularly played, including some sweaty sessions during the summer, they seem to have the same tonal and harmonic balance as they did the day they were fitted. If anything, the plain strings are perhaps starting to degarde - I noticed two or three weeks ago that the 1st E string seems to have lost a bit of volume compared to the others. I'll probably buy some single plain strings with a view to replacing them as needed.
I'm told that the coating on the wound strings eventually starts to fray, and that's the signal that they need to be changed. 8 months in, and there is no sign of this so far. I'm starting to get curious about how long they will last.
The coating also results in a string that is more slinky and slippery than uncoated types. The fingers glide up and down more easily, and the squeaking sound of the finger tips on the windings is dramatically reduced.
Been playing for decades, and these are the best strings I've ever used. Good sound, great feel, last for months.
Nice tone good life length
Yes, they might be a bit pricy, but the tone you get from them can't be compared with cheaper strings. Theese strings keep their good tone throughout the whole life lenght of the strings.
So in the long run this is a small investment worth doing.
Elixir Nanoweb Electric light
Simply the best electric guitar strings money can buy, I play at least 4 times a week and I get over 3 months out of a set, no compromise on sound at all, really warm bottom end with crystal clear highs too
Worth the extra ?
I would usually spend ?6 on a pack of strings from my local music shop which I must change then every week. Since I have started using these, I get about three to four weeks out of one set. They don't go dead as quickly as other brands, I find they retain their clarity and brightness much longer than other brands. They also feel really good under the fingers! Also, you don't get that horrible dirt and rust you usually get on your strings if your guitar has been left alone for a week. I think they are worth the extra few euros.
Last much longer
I have sweaty hands and I was tired to replace Ernie Ball's strings every week. I moved to Elixir and even if they are a bit expensive they last much longer than Ernie Ball's (about 2-3 months).
I use them with a MIM Stratocaster and it sounds great !
Who doesn't love elixir strings?
Great string, we all know it! The coating makes them last longer , they won't rust and the dirt is easyer to clean it off. This gives you a much more good lasting tone.
Nice strings
I recently purchased my 10th set of these strings and got used to it on my Epiphone Les Paul Standard.
They provide a nice and warm sound.
Although I don't have sweaty hands and never had any rusty-strings-issues with other brands I feel that the nanoweb-strings are maintaining a cleaner look.
And in my opinion the nanoweb is a small advantage while fingerpicking, because the strings seem to have little bit more grip than the usual strings.
Cons:
- rather expensive (you can get 2 sets of "normal" strings for the same price)
- When you're playing with a pick the nanoweb-coating might frazzle a little bit, where the pick hits the strings. Though you almost can't see this with the naked eye and I don't think that it affects the sound.
Great strings
Best brand of strings I used so far. They sound GREAT! My hands are sweaty, and nanoweb coating protects strings for a long time. The only place coating wears off is where I pick strings, and that's ok. Used these for drop G tuning (7-string) paired with single .68 (elixir as well), and it works great. I highly recommend these strings.
Best possible value for money
I play a lot and I own a lot of guitars. Hence changing strings on my guitars comes quiet frequently. With the Elixir strings that is actually something that doesn't give me any headached anymore.
The first thing I realized when I had set them up first time was that they seem to be slightly thicker than regular uncoated strings. At least the look and feel is chunkier. Also the feeling while playing is different. Actually it reminded me a bit of strings that I had treated with Dunlops Fast Fret stick: Something like a slight glide effect. But now for the much more important part, the sound. In essence I perceive the same effect here: They sound slightly chunkier, less harsh, less metallic than regular strings. I know quite some players who criticize that as less sparky and less vivid, but I actually like the sound a lot. What I agree to though are comments that they are a tiny bit less dynamic. Having said that, we are talking nuances here. However the best part about them is the lifecycle: I play 1-2 hours a day and they last for 2-3 months, sometimes longer. I realized that actually keeping the guitar in the case is significantly extending the durability compared to just keep them outside the case.
