Harley Benton G212 Celestion V30 5-stars Reviews
You wont be disappointed!
Honestly this piece of kit is awesome sounding. I was able to A/B this cab with an orange 2x12 and honestly there is no audible difference that I could observe. Well built, good materials and well designed. Just passed its test with its first gig! Quality piece of kit, not just for the price but in general!
Great sound for a great price.
I purchased this some years ago, but am still very happy with it.
The box is very solid, and the speakers sound superb.
I use it with a Hayden MoFo 30W valve amp, but have used it previously with a Peavey Valveking 100W head.
Apart from a famous name on the front, this is perfect and the price makes up for that.
The important part - the speakers - are classic Celestion.
Fantastic sound, road ready.
I bought this cabinet over a year ago (nearly two years ago now) and I can safely say I've used it almost every day since purchase, not to mention having gigged it almost every weekend since too and dispite a few scratches, it still holds up to my Marshall 4x12.
The cab is very well built. I have brought this to many parts of Ireland for gigs aswell as using it for recording and it's held its own each time. I'm never lost in the mix, and I've had many a sound engineer ask me about it because of how clear my guitar sounds through it. I gig a 100 watt Marhshall head (either JVM 210 or JCM2000 DSL) and this cabs reacts well to both these heads.
As I mentioned, having done some recording on it, I know that these cabs react well under a mic (or several) and aren't hard to get a bad sound from if you are micing them, either in the studio or live.
Another nice feature is being able to run two heads into it, or switching the impedance for say a smaller combo like my Blues Jr from time to time.
The only criticism I may have for this amp is one could argue it doesnt have as much low end response as something say an Orange 2x12, but at the price you pay for this one, I say it holds up very well.
In summary: If you want a good sounding, easy to mic and road durable cab, do not hesitate in getting this.
V30s at affordable price?
I've been using this cab for the past 5 months and i have to say it's solid as a rock. Few scratches on the Rolex but overal build quality is very good. Recommend.
Great cab on a budget.
I purchased this cab in 2011 and have used it many times both in the studio and in live situations.
The main thing that made me purchase this cab is the price, at the time it was cheaper to buy this cab, than buy two Celestian V30's.
Saying that, it is a great sounding cab with brilliantly sturdy construction (this thing has been bumped on stage and thrown into vans many a time). Great cab if you're buying on a budget, I would recommend and purchase again.
Unbeatable value.....
I bought this cab seven years ago and it is still going strong despite being gigged on a regular basis. Construction is solid and the V30 speakers sound fantastic. I have been using it with 90w valve amp as well as smaller 15w valve head. The cab can easy easily hold its own against a 4x12, both in terms of volume and bass response. The sound is very balanced across the frequency range, and is particularly pleasing in the mid-range frequencies which seems to compliment the amps I am using. The option to use it in stereo is also a useful feature. Highly recommended.
Amazing value!
great cab. especially for the price. I recommend these to everyone. two vintage 30 speakers (same speakers as an orange cab) in a cab for less than the price of just the speakers alone? amazing
solid construction, fast shipping, and great speakers
What can I say that hasn't already been said. The cabinet is solid ply wood construction, rigid yet not too heavy. The speakers are industry staples, and inside this cabinet they are a fantastic value. As many others have said, these two speakers AND the cabinet are less expensive than just the two speakers alone, so there is value in that. The flight handles are solid and are make it easy to handle the cabinet. If you choose to install casters like i did, it will be even easier to transport. The cabinet really sounds great at a decent volume, it works great for gigs and practice with a live drummer. The closed back yields a nice bass sound as well. I would highly recommend this product.
Awesome!
Solid use for three years, sounds great for all genres of music, ive used it for thrash and old 50's rock n roll, vintage 30's are quality, such good value cab
Best 2x12 for the money
You can expect a 2x12 cabinet to be heavy, but the nice recessed handles on the side make this easier to carry than it should be. Construction feels solid and is very well made for this price point. I'm not 100% on what the wood used is, but it sounds great and is nice and heavy, but the weight is manageable with those nice handles! The removable front grill makes speaker swaps easy, though you won't really need to with the nice Celestion vintage 30's. The size is perfect for full sized amp heads requiring a big footprint to put them on. The mono/stereo operation is perfect for any situation and will let you run one amp in mono or 2 amps in stereo, just make sure to check your ohms. The vintage 30's are very well rounded speakers but seem to respond the best with heavy distorted tones but that doesn't mean they don't work well with other tones as well. I don't find them to be very capable of Fender style cleans, but that doesn't mean they can't produce good clean tones as well. I did not hesitate at all to purchase a 2x12 cabinet with great speakers, this is a great deal for anyone who wishes to get great tones for just a few bones.
You won't find better for this price
This cab is an absolute bargain for the money. The quality is incredible and the sound from the speakers is perfect. If you're on the fence about picking it up, don't be. You won't be disappointed.
Incredible cab
Here in the US you pay more for the 2 speakers than you pay for this cabinet delivered. That it itself is an amazing deal...yes burn the cabinet and you're still ahead! That said, this cabinet is supposed to be 16mm which is about 5/8". It has mono/stereo capability and recessed metal flight handles. The tolex is fine and it has metal corners. The cab has some heft to it, but it's very easy to carry with the recessed handles.
Some say that V30s need some time to break in, but I think they sound just fine.
I have run a Bugera 333 and a Peavey Valveking through this and both sound very nice.
I really, really like this cab. I may have to buy another with stock speakers.
BUY THIS CAB!!
Excellent Value for Money!
When ordering this cab I never questioned the sound quality that would be delivered as I had done plenty of research and know what I was getting with the Vintage 30 speakers. However, I was concerned about whether the build quality of the product would be of a high standard given that it cost so little compared to its competitors. That being said, I am very pleased to to say that upon receiving the product I am extremely impressed by the build quality which is of that of a much more expansive cab! I have absolutely no worries about gigging this cab and the deep, practical handles are an added bonus for the gigging musician.
Fantastic 2x12 cabinet.
The Harley Benton G212 is a very very good guitar cab. I purchased it to pair with my small Blackstar HT5 head for use in a home studio. I chose it because I wanted a pair of V30's in a cab, and the cab was cheaper than buying two separate V30 speakers. Ridiculous value for money.
I've got tone out of it that I could have only have dreamt of with my old 4x12 and the speakers provide a lot of presence. In my case the right speaker recorded slightly better than the left but this is just dependent on the speaker configuration.
I've also used it for live gigs playing my HT5, Blackstar ID 100 and Fender twin reverb and all have sounded fantastic both in the room, and on tracks.
Handles are well placed and it is easy to carry. While you can get better made cabinets, they cost 2-3 times as much. Fantastic value for money, and I'm incredibly impressed.
great item
I use with an orange duel terror, the sound is great a from clean to dirty works great.
BEST THING EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!
plugged my blackstar ht50 into this and fired it up - instantly got that tight el-34 sound that marshall is known for, definitely fantastic value for money, its like buying the speakers and getting the cab for free, a definite must have if you want more top end, and a tighter and clearer bottom end, celestion vintage 30's are definitely the way to go
Great cabinet!
This cabinet looks and sounds great. The two 16 ohm vintage 30s sound excellent with my Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 18. It's closed back, so you get very directional sound projection, as expected.
The construction is better than expected at this price. It's made from plywood, rather than particle board - very impressive!
Overall, it's great value for money for the sound and construction.
Points to note:
- Some more info on how the Mono/Stereo switching works would have been useful. For those interested, I believe that it works as follows:
Mono position: speakers wired in parallel giving 8 ohm resistance
Stereo position: L/R inputs sent individually to L/R speaker, giving 16 ohm resistance to each input.
- The tolex is fairly easy to scuff/rip. A thin case is probably a worthwhile investment.
Good and cheap 2x12
The box looks very good and sound fine as well. It is harmonically very rich, maybe it lacks on the bass side, but that could be a good thing if you need to be more present on the mix of your band. It is quite light and easy to transport. I use it with a Marshall JMP1 preamp + Marshall EL34 50/50 power amp. The G212 can work in stereo mode very well. I play heavy music and this baby works very good for that.
Update: This thing survived a flood (lot's of mud inside and stuff)... after some cleaning, it still sound just as good!
Best cab for it's price
This cab is perfect within it's price range.
I was looking to buy a not too expensive cab to run my Orange Tiny Terror through and I found this one, read some reviews and decided to give it a try.
I haven't regret it at all, I am quite happy with the purchase.
The overall build quality of the cab is very good, well made, not too heavy, a solid cab.
The Celestion Vintage 30 speakers alone are worth the cab price, and they sound really nice.
If you are looking for a cab within this price range, this is the one.
Good cab, good tone, great price.
Well built, sounds good, good handles, Mono or Stereo. I haven't cranked the hell out of it yet, but for practice its great. The tone on some $1000+ 4x12 Cabs is better but for money this is a kick arse cab that sounds better than other gear out there for twice the price. Very happy.
