Harley Benton HB-20R Reviews
INCREDIBLE
I bought this amp because I had a gig in a club, that I had to reach by train, so it would be easy to carry and could fit it in a trolley. As I tried it, just out of the box, I couldn't believe my ears. Clean, nice sound, EQ very responsive, loud enough to be heard in a club without connecting it to a cabinet o straight to the mixer. Now this is my favorite amp (I also have a Vox, an Epiphone, and a Gallien) and still cannot believe such quality for the price. I guess HB will realize they have a winner, and either rise the price, or discontinue it because is too good for the (generally cheap) HB lines. If you need an easy going amp, hurry up.
An exceptional product for its price. No interference, enough power not to burst and no interference.
Great beginner amp
This is a cheap, small portable amp and versitale enough to be able to acommodate any style of playing. Has both clean and distorted(overdrive) setting with gain adjuster. Also for a small amp it has really great volume, can be used in a crowd in a large room. Also you can adjust low,mid and high tones which enables you to have full control of the sound. It works as an output for an audio interface and it barely changes the original sound the interface is sending. If you are a beginner and you want to start playing electric guitar but aren't sure if you are going to stick with it, I suggest you get this amp because even if you use it for three weeks it still can be resold just slightly under the original price.
great starter amp.
this amp represents great value for a 1st amp,i bought it to get grand daughter into electric guitar and it fits the purpose great,im an experienced guitarist so i know my amps and i will say that on the gain channel anything more than 1/4 gain and it sounds dreadful,on clean channel its good and the reverb is good too,HOWEVER these amps have a standy by green light function which will only work when guitars connected and when you start strumming.....SO you gotta strum a few times to go from green light on standby to red light on opereation to get sound otherwise it wont work,
Great little Practice amp
Recently purchased this with a new guitar after many years of not playing, and and very impressed by the amps feature set. Stuck an overdrive peddle infront of it, and was blown away by how good it sounded for such a small amp. Very impressed, great value for a beginner or someone just looking for a practice amp.
Great sounding amp
This amp sounds great and it including an overdrive setting is even better, I enjoy being able to switch between clean and OD tones.
Truly a great amp!
Good amplifier
The sound is not great, but it has a lot of adjustment knobs with which you can acquire the style you wanna play. In the end it does exactly what an amplifier its supposed to do. So, if you are looking for an affordable amplifier this is the one for you.
Great practice amp
Got this as part of a bundle, surprised by the great quality and sound. Would thoroughly recommended this amp to anybody
Definitely purchase!!!
A compact device, but at the same time pumps rooms with a large area. It sounds clean, you can build a good overdrive from the features, but when switching to pure sound, you have to retrain, so I leave this review! In such a price range it is almost impossible to find a competitor!
About HB-20R
A good combo booster to start with. A little phonetic, but it will do for beginners, especially at this price.
Great
The amp works great sounds amazing
Good thing it comes in two boxes to avoid damage
Absolutely Delighted But Beware Of Power Issues Outside Europe
My Harley Benton HB-20R Combo arrived in Australia from Europe quickly, and well packaged. I'm absolutely delighted with the quality and tone of this amplifier combo. I thought about getting a Harley Benton TUBE15 Celestion tube combo, but opted for this much cheaper HB-20R combo, plus a Positive Grid Spark Pearl Amp a modelling amplifier. More than enough options to meet my humble needs.
However, beware that the HB-20R comes with a European earthed power input plug. It needs a Power Source of 230V 50Hz, which is fine for here in Australia. (Australia is officially 230V 50Hz, but most supplies are actually 240V 50Hz.) If you're in the UK or Australia, you're going to need to use a plug adapter, or cut the European plug off and replace it with a local one (probably voiding your warranty). In the USA you're also going to need a step-up power transformer.
Ok
For starting it's ok,but in the future it's pretty weak
Decent Amp
This is a pretty good amp for beginners
Harley Benton HB-20R
I love it , it has a very high sounds but the quality of the sound isn't good enough
Review from total beginner: So far so good
Just to be clear - I am a total novice and I with that device I am setting my first steps with playing electric guitar.
I ordered that amp as part of a bundle ("Fender SQ Affinity Tele MN BB Bundle1"). The amp itself makes a good impression (seems solid / well built). After 1,5 months of usage the device seems to work correctly. I cannot say much about the quality of sound from the speaker, as for the sake of my partner and neighbours I solely use the headphones output.
Advice for total beginners (and maybe manaul writer), as I am/was: During first attempt to use the amp I had no idea how to activate it. Like: once you plug it in to the socket and turn on, the LED light turns green. I have IT background, hence that was an indication for me that all is good/done, however the amp did not play anything (even after plugging in guitar), so I thought that it was broken. Only after review of few youtube videos I noted that amp' LED of ppl playing it is red, not green. Then I noted that you just have to be less gentel with pulling guitar strings to activate the amp.
With all that written, I guess this is a nice device to start with - especially that it comes as a bundle, which make it easier/more secure for total beginner.
Nice amp for the price
Its about 70 euro, and has a lot of options. I dont need more so its great. Its also really loud
Good practice amp
I am using HB-20R in my bedroom, mostly with
headphones and playing my Harley Benton ST-62CC RW (fantastic value for money).
I would like to give the amp full blast, but my neighbors are senior citizens, so headphones are criterion for my feedbeck.
In few words-you cant go wrong with combo i have.Next step is upgrading my headphones.
Great for beginners
For a first amp, this amp is surely pleasant and great. But as time passes, the need for a better quality is a certain thing
Great combo
Sound is good. Yeah. Just a good combo for the home studying.
