Harley Benton HB-20R Reviews
Best value for money
You get more that you pay, very good amp
Great value
Plenty of volume for practising, and learning the joys of clean vs overdriven tones.
And what you want more?!
20W + Light Weight + all features that I need as a beginner for home-made-guitar-lessons
Good for starters
Good for starters. Have functions like Overdrive and Clean. Sound quality is not that clear. But as I said for starters it is fine.
One of the better choices for beginners
I use the amp for basic practice in my bedroom. It's sounds a little bit bassy but that's probably my fault by not putting the amp on a table or something like that.
It's has the features you would expect a 50$ amp to have, such as a switch between a clean and an overdrive channel, equalization, reverb, etc..., but nothing like a chorus-, flanger- or delayeffect.
In my opinion, the overdrive is quite low even when the gain is turned at it's highest value. I would recommend a pedal for better distortions, i myself am already considering buying one.
I can't find any messy finishes on the amp, i really like the looks of it.
Overall i'm more than happy with my purchase.
for the low price u cant expect much. but for my suprise it sounds well. no issues with it and no problems the cosmetics are something alse if u look really clouse you will notice the flaws. but from like 1 or 2 m away u will just enjoi the wiev of it. all in one wuld recomend.
Soundings
Nice sound especially when only use bass & trible.
Amazing amplifier
This is an amazing amplifier.
Use : this one is pretty good for every genre you would like
To play from blues to heavy metal this amplifier can handle it.
Also it is not to difficult to use.
Design : it is a great looking amplifier.
The only thing you have to be careful with it because it might stain the floor..
Sound : it is just perfect.
I love the cleverness and the distortion both are in great quality.
Even with your headphones the sound stays awesome.
Overall I am very happy with this amplifier.
A quality product for that price
As this is my first combo, I can't fairly compare it to anything, but the amp does everything it is supposed to perfectly and the speaker sounds very good with no noticeable delay. All in all, this is a very good choice for a beginner.
lovely solid state
I am happy with this little amp I got it for playing at home, and I never was happy before without valves. i get a great claen sound with a little spring reverb, not only that it has it s own very convincing character of sound.I used other solid state amps from big names or modelling amps this one has the blues.I am not commenting on the distorted channel right now I haven t tried it enough. Only one thing is funny sometimes if you leave it on for a while and you re not playing it makes loud bang, I dont know what that is but its ok. It has a standby feature, and only starts when you tuen up the volume and start playing the guitar which is kind of cute. Definitele I am happy with that amp. And there is a line out for connecting it to another amp. Great. Just might have got the bigger version and use it for small gigs I can still do that. Thank You
Harley Benton HB-20R Amp
I received this amp as part of a bundle deal. It was a big improvement on the smaller Redwood 10 G portable amp I had previously. I use it as a practice amp at home & it meets all my needs. The EQ controls are responsive and produce good tone and sound . I like the layout of the separate channels for Clean & Overdrive and find them easily controllable. For the price a good practice amp
Perfect for homeplaying.
This is great for a beginner for home / solo outside playing.
No need buying the 40 watt version but it depends on You, for starters this is awesome start, don;t get the 10 watt cause You wount know if it is Your strings You hear or the amp. Here You will definetly know that the sound You making is coming from the AMP.
20 watts is perfect for home practice or a garage
I am playing at home with 2nd / 4rd level on knobs
On the guitar i have volume around 7 and this is a perfect setup.
Do not need to go louder.
Reverb is not as good as i would think but it is there non the less.
Clean / Overdrive definetly work. The sound quality is ok, but of course the tone and tune depends on Your preference.
Bas, mid , trebles knobs work as they should.
There is a AUX in which is nice.
Playing with headphones works nicely.
ProTip:
Want less bass ? Put it higher , on some table, or similar, and keep it away of corners of the room.
Great value and features.
Not the best sounding amp but at this price you can't expect that much. Has plenty of great features and plenty of tone controls.
Great for beginners
The sound is very good for the price. Ok quality.
Best for a begginer
A good beginner's amp - with a few small issues
The 20 watts of the HB20R are more than enough to fill a room with sound; at 1/4 of the way to max, it's already too loud for bedroom jamming.
The HB20R has a good clean channel with customizable EQ settings shared with the overdriven channel; but I'd avoid the overdrive. It crunches and crumples the sound into an unintelligible mess at any noticeable gain level.
Otherwise, a nasty glitch/issue is shared between this model and it's bigger brother, the HB-40R ; plugging your phone into the dedicated backing-track aux-in port on the front panel results in terrible, terrible clicking/buzzing until you start playing a song through the connection on your device; as well as this, the sound from the aux-in is *NOT* affected by your amps' EQ, or even volume settings; I was nearly deafened when I accidentally connected it with my phone set to maximum audio on the aux cable output!
Apart from these issues, the amp does serve well on the clean channel for general practice and playing, and the EQ knobs provide clear, noticeable tonal changes to the sound emitted. Would recommend most for a beginner.
Great little thing
For a beginner guitarist this amp is perfect. It packs a lot of power in something so small. The effect options are also great to learn how to play around with sounds.
best
the best amp for the price
great amp for the price
light, compact, but packs a decent punch. More than enough for practice at home or smaller settings. Two channels with separate volumes, easy tone controls, built in reverb, and MP3 input headphone outputs. great product at a fantastic price, would recommend this item. Excellent service and speedy delivery
Small, but
Lovely little amp!
Two channels with separate volumes, easy tone controls, built in reverb, plenty loud enough, and nice features like MP3 input and headphone outputs.
Only thing missing is ability to use footswitch for channel selection.
Just what a little man needs for their first amp!
Very good for a beginner not willing to spend to much money
I bought this amp as part of a bundle including a Squier strat. I was very pleased with it, especially for such a low price.
Would totally recommend for a beginner willing to start out with electric guitar without spending too much money.
