Harley Benton ST-62MN VW Vintage Series Reviews
Great guitar for the money
It feels good and sounds good, pickups are good enough and you don't need to change them (unless you want a hot rod). The fret edges are smoth, although they are not very well leveled, so if you want to have a somewhat low action, you need to do the fretwork or have a luthier do it for you. But if you don't mind having a higher action, this guitar is basically ready to go from the box. Amazing instrument for the price, would recoment to anyone that wants a strat
This is a GREAT guitar.
I've been a pro and semi pro player for over thirty years. I can't believe how good this guitar is. My mate played it and kept saying ... this is a £1000 guitar .. How are they doing it for £120? ... I should mention two things ... One, the neck has natural wood markings that would have probably made it a reject at one of the big brand companies? If the neck didn't play well (It plays and feels AMAZING) I would have returned it? It doesn't bother me at all. and Two, the bridge saddles need a little 'sorting out' .. nothing major but thought I'd mention it. I love this guitar ..I had in mind modding it with new pickups... Love the pickups that are on it ... I might buy another one ? ..
The quality surprised me
I bought this guitar to mod and experiment with it. I was shocked with the quality that came from factory at this price though, and Ive change my mind on experimenting with it. It is a very good guitar for the price. The pick ups are really good, the neck is really comfortable to play, the string action was also really good (way better than other more expensive guitars I owned). I also initially thought tuning would be an issue with a guitar with this price but this is not the case. If I use the trem or bend the strings a lot then it gets untuned, but other than that, it stays in trune very well. On top of that, the caramelized neck fits very well with the light yellow tons of the guitar and o found it beautiful. I am overall really impressed with this guitar.
Very very good
Bought the guitar and it arrived in a week No damage from shipping, fret edges are immaculate (seriously some top tier work) Nexl feels amazing I can't stop playing In general the guitar feels amazing and looks amazing 4/5 for features since it doesn't have locking tuners or a floyd rose or something special to bump it up Seriously recommend this guitar (I bought this one as my dedicated single coil strat)
Great for the price
Good guitar. Fret sprout appeared after a month or so.. But with a little bit of work the frets were fine. Plays good, I like the neck finish, would like the neck even more if the fretboard radius was a little rounder.
The pickups are good, sounds like a vintage strat, not the best one, but good enough.
Machine heads are a little stiff but hold the tuning just fine.
I would recommend this guitar to anyone searching for a cheap strat.
Great strat!
This is a great guitar. It sounds like a stratocaster is supposed to sound, stays in tune amazingly well and it feels like a much more expensive guitar. Also, last but not least, the customer service is of an exemplary behaviour.
Unbeatable in the price range
As usual, the guitar arrived in Hungary in about a week, in perfect condition. Packaging was decent.
It's absolutely gorgeous... can't get enough of the neck. Feels great, plays great. The frets are surprisingly well rounded off especially for the price range, and the texture and finish is fantastic.
It was even set up very nicely. The guitar is very light, holds the tuning pretty well. The pickups sound good.
For this price I originally thought, if nothing else, it will be a nice wall decoration, but it's so much more. It just begs to be played.
It's absolutely unbeatable in this price range.
For sure I got a bad copy
Been researching this guitar for quite a long time. Watched and read plenty of reviews as one does, so decided to buy it.
The thing came with super high action. "Well, just needs a basic setup", I thought.
Proceeded to do the basic adjustment on the truss rod to get the recommended 010" at the 7-8th fret when the E is pressed at the first and last fret. Adjusted the bridge saddles and checked: What a disaster. The guitar buzzes everywhere. I didn't even lower to the 4/64" and 6/64" height recommended at the 12th fret and the guitar was already sounding absurdly bad. Had I done that it'd be absolutely unplayable.
I'm very disappointed. Should have bought 2 copies to see if I'd get lucky with one at least.
Most of the comments about low quality copies I saw online were from far back in the past, 2015/2020-ish, so to know that today (Aug 2023) this is still an issue is hard to digest.
I hope to get the courage to buy another HB again.
Great value, nice sounding guitar.
I expected flaws, but found none. Would be careful with the thin term block, but the guitar stay in tune, so all good. Why go for a second hand guitar when you can get one of these for not a lot of money.
Full featured ST style guitar
Classic looks. Flawless paint finish. The roasted maple neck is so good and the graphite nut make this an extraordinary value. Pickups are in the sweet spot between 60's mellow and modern hot.
Sounds just as good as Squier Classic Vibe Strat for less than half of the price!
This was my second Harley Benton (the first one I purchased was a TE-62), and I was very pleasantly surprised with this one as well. Having A/B'd it against a 60's Squier Classic Vibe, they sound nearly identical; though the Squier feels a little more premium, you're paying almost double for a glossy neck and perhaps slightly better hardware. However, the Harley Benton is no slouch. It is comfortable to play with its satin neck, the pickups sound great and it looks great as well! I've been picking this up and playing it more than my Fender MIM strat; if you're looking for your first strat-style guitar, you really can't go wrong with the ST-62. Out of the box, it was set up well, there weren't any issues with QC and it is very affordable.
Excellent '62 Strat From Harley Benton
I received my ST-62MN VW Vintage Series in fine condition. I had a used Fender Strat that I had foolishly sold, and the ST-62MN is a terrific replacement. And it is brand new at a fraction of the price!
This was my third Harley Benton. I also have the beautiful Aeolus Tiger Flame which resembles the Gibson SE-Les Paul and the TE-62 CAR Telecaster style guitars
Amazing budget guitar
Beautiful guitar with great quality for the price
Amazing
Amazing guitar for the price. Great build quality and holds tune suprisingly well, excellent out of the box setup and pickups are quite straty. Hums a lot and there is no shielding under pickguard but other than that, really amazing guitar for the money.
This is a good strat for the price.
Yes the parts are not the most durable and well crafted. But you absolutely get more than what you pay for. I really liked how it sounds and i can say its imo better than my rg1570 prestige in single coil. The neck feels good not the most slippy but frets are done great. Overall its good for what you pay for. This was my first harley benton guitar and im satisfied. And i think im gonna buy more from them ... :)
Great guitar
Bought a Squire Classic Vibe and it came with clear, poor factory workmanship, sent it back.Purchased this guitar. The HB is far and away the better guitar at half the price shipped to the US.
Immaculate tone
Was uncertain about the quality due to low price but it is hands down one of my best performing guitars I own, and I own alot of different guitars. Its my main stage guitar
Great instrument!
Good shape guitar, great feeling and playability in my hands after 10 minutes of playing...Love this maple neck...Pickups are very warm straty and balanced (i was worried if they were to noisy, but NO. Tuning stability is very ok.
Compare to my Squier contemporary fender that costs 3 times the price of this Harley Benton, easily HB.
Deserves all the money!
Very nice guitar in a very reasonable price.
This guitar is very beautiful. It plays very good and sounds better than expected.it has minor issues.like a bit of buzz on the strings.I have this guitar almost 10 months and one of the strings tree fell off. This guitar is highly recommended thought.you cant loose from this guitar only gain.
If you want strat style guitar on a budget.
Not much to complain about really, since this is quite decent guitar for the price. Was actually surprised for it being set up that well.String action, truss rod and intonation was pretty dead on (Guitar was even close to being in tune right out of the box).Frets could use a some touch here and there, but nothing major, like, they're not going to cut your hands or buzz all over the place. No complaints about nut and machine heads.Guitar actually holds tuning really well, even after some tremolo bar use.Not a fan of those classic fender type bridge saddles,so i might change those eventually.Electronics work as they should. Can't comment much on pickups, since i'm more of a humbucker person and therefore, don't have a good point of reference.Paint job is simply perfect. One negative thing I did found, was that the woodwork inside the back cavity where springs are located is kinda rough, to say the least.Obviously,it doesn't affect playability or anything, but still, there's literally a bunch of wood fiber sticking out, kind of like if you cut wood with a dull blade, but again, doesn't affect anything ,except for knowing it's there.
It's a decent guitar, but I think it's important to understand that it is a budget instrument, therefore, don't expect it to be high end one.If you want a strat style guitar on a budget, project guitar or your first instrument then this is definetely a good choice.
