Harley Benton ST-62MN VW Vintage Series Reviews
Harley Benton ST-62MN VW Vintage Series
Nice Guitar sounds great and looks amazing, price is crazy - if i could change one thing with this guitar it would be the neck its a little thick and has a serious clear coat which adds to the feel other than that and that's just my preference its a great guitar out of the box
Great stratocaster
I bought this stratocaster to keep in my studio as a guitar for rock, blues, country.
The guitar feels solid, the neck is a little chunky ( fine by me ) The PUPS are a bit muddy, but its ok because never intended to keep them, i swapped them for seymour duncans .
It plays nice, the fretwork was ok, had to do a little something here and there but nothing dramatic.
I buyed this guitar with the idea to have it heavely upgraded ( which i did ) and now it plays and sounds better than a fender, for a fraction of the price.
This guitar does not feel cheap, and its 10 tomes better than a Squier of the same price range.
If you want a Strat but dont intend to waste 900 + euros, or just want to try out a strat , then go for it its a no brainer!
I dont know how they do it
I wasn't expecting much when I bought it, as i knew it wouldn't be my go to, as it is not my style as I usually just play metal/hard rock, but I wanted something different and for $145 shipped I figured even if it wasn't great, I wouldn't be out of pocket too much, but this is definitely well worth it and then some. I have only played one Fender in my life, a friend has a MiM strat and this easily sits up there with it. I'm sure they have their duds like every other brand, but if you get one that is on par quality wise as the one I received, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Great guitar
Overall great looking guitar. Arrived yesterday to the UK neatly packaged with no damage at all. The color of the guitar is slightly more yellow than the images intend but that didn't bother me at all. The paint quality of the body and the lacquer finish of the wood is finished to a high standard. The strings it arrived with were a tad rusty and the overall setup was very high. I will surely be changing the strings and taking the guitar to my local shop for a good setup. The tuners seem fine for now and feel sturdy. The pickups (especially bridge) sound very good. I honestly could not find a single fault besides the old strings but that can happen and isn't a large issue. Overall I feel this guitar is truly unbeatable for the price. A great instrument for a beginner like myself or more experienced players. This will surely not be my last Harley Benton!
Fab
This guitar is awesome. Feel, looks, sounds, it has everything. Just as good or even better than the real thing. This is a truly beautiful Stratocaster.
Great look-a-like strat thing
Such a great guitar for the price you pay, of course, it's a high-end instrument but for the price you pay for it it's unbelievably good, it's really nice to play with, it's a great practise instrument and I think it can be used for any end because it's a good guitar of course for the price.
ideal for fun
Bought this one for mods and fun.
I already done some mods so I've met the guitar wery well.
Wood quality is surprisingly good. Had to expand tuning holes for HB locking machines and wasn't easy because wood is well dried. Truss rod is god, and guitar came with perfect guitar profile.
Guitar came with high action so I had to lower it. Tremolo isn't precise for setting up action, but whole guitar costs like some tremolos here on site and I understand it.
Had to change string immediately.
Neck is so beautiful looking and well polished, the frets are so good and even. But, it is too fat for my taste, I like thinner necks. Also, very glossy back of the neck so my fingers sticks on it when playing fast and sloppy.
Have buzzes on opened B string, because of nut is a bit lower on that position than the first fret, so I needed extra setting on tremolo with that string and it stayed high on action. I'll remove that tremolo soon, very unstable for setting up, but overall good when you set up everything.
I recommend guitar for beginners and for modification for someone who loves fat neck.
Excellent purchase
This isn't a great guitar for the money - it's a great guitar - period. I don't believe I'd have found a better guitar on the market at this money - even 4 or 5 times the money, having tried "official" non USA models previously. I've never tried USA models and frankly have no need or desire to, considering the cost involved.
Fit and finish are faultless, electronics are quiet and effective with full effect pots that feel just right. Great 'ST' tones from the alnico pickups, clearly discernable in all switch positions. Great cleans that dirty up nicely with the right amp settings.
Mine is just an excellent guitar at a superb price. It does seem to have been the latest model, newly in stock. Usual complaints about string condition seem to have been sorted out - strings wrapped in waxed paper with silica gel pack inside wrapping, so I was able to give it a good road test without having to concern myself with changing strings before I got started. Set up was superb out of the box. I got my gear out to double check and found I had nothing to do. The extra room at the nut (42mm) helps too. Under the plate, the routing is ultra clean and professional, wiring is clean and modern as is the soldering.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy again.
Harley Benton ST-62MN
Very nice looking and sounding guitar
A few words about Harley Benton)
Unfortunately, I am not a fan of long arrivals, so I?ll say right away that as a buyer, you simply cannot find the best tool in this price range. Despite the fact that the instrument was produced in the land of the rising sun and has a purely visual difference from the original Fender guitar, this guitar is an indicator of how people relate to the instrument, how they love and respect their work) I am very happy for many years that will remain in my memory forever).
Great value, playable and sounds good
I'm not a great fan of the Stratocaster, but there are some tones that it can get, that no other guitar can produce. So, when I was looking for those tones, I didn't want to spend a fortune on a guitar I was not likely to use much.
The ST-62 was too good a price to ignore when I was looking for my "strat" esque tones.
Out of the box it looked great, with no flaws in the finish or the hardware. The neck was fatter than I expected, but I actually prefer that sort of neck.
With a quick adjustment to the action and a fret polish, the guitar plays great. There are no sharp frets and they all seem to be pretty level.
Soundwise, all the strat tones are there, including the icepick bridge! Recorded it is hard to tell this from a midrange strat, so it is perfect for my needs.
If you are in the market for a Strat, this is a great option.

Guitar arrived as part of a 3 guitar shipment. Parcel arrived fairly quickly over the Christmas season. Arrived in perfect condition. Guitar looks perfect. Two micro blemishes in areas no one will ever look at. Action set up well. sounds great. I bought a squire Telecaster(thin-line-classic vibe, 70's hollow body) a few months ago and this guitar is of an equivalent quality and feel. Only had it for a couple of days but am totally happy with it so far. By the way, the other 2 guitars in my shipment were perfect and also look and play great.
Fun modding platform
I have been playing my ST-62 for over a year now. Out of the box I did not like how the neck felt. I have read and heard other comments to the same. The neck felt sticky and too fat. My first thing was to sand down the back of the neck and that helped, but I ended up buying a cheap neck from china and I prefer that with a satin finish and rosewood fretboard. I also ordered a mint green perl HSS pick guard and added a humbucker.
The biggest con was the neck, but for the price I wouldn't give the guitar a negative review. Buyer be ware you may have to do setup work. The original neck needed tweaking to remove buzzes.
The pros are that I want to learn how to work on a guitar and this is an inexpensive way to do that. I ended up with basically a parts caster and I am loving it more everyday. It looks cool hanging on the was with my sage green Player Series Strat and my Ocean Flame CST-24T P90. I love how the mint green pick guard and the rosewood fretboard look on this guitar.
I would recommend this guitar. The tone was good out of the box, I just wanted more options and so I made the mods.
Excellent low priced guitar!
I use this low priced beauty mainly for blues and jazz. It sounds awesome for its price. The build quality is quite good. It has a thick old style ?60 C shape neck which i like it a lot. Don?t expect to have the feel and playability of a thousand euro Stratocaster. You get what you pay for and in this case you will get some more! ;)
Simply amazing!
I was looking for a cheap strat, because it's my favorite type of guitar. The first thing that I noticed was it's color. A lovely aged white. Also the neck made out of Canadian maple spoke to me. When I received the guitar I tested it out. Everything was good, only the frets where a bit rough but this was fixed pretty easily. After I set up the guitar I started playing it, and the sound was wonderful, just like a strat is supposed to sound. I compared it with a friend's mexican strat and it sounded just the same.
So in conclusion:
Pros:
-Nice color and neck
-Great sounding guitar
-Just as good sounding as an mexican made
Cons:
-It will need a little bit of set up work
Great value
Outstanding value for money, it can easily compete with much more expensive instruments. It's good to go out of the box, sound is crispy, clear and punchy. It looks, feels and plays great.
Product is good, high quality. I like this guitar.
My favorite guitar :)
Hi, I have used fender american special HSS and fender mexican standard sss before, really nice guitars. I bought this guitar just to get excited about this guitar but I was very surprised to see the workmanship I got a funny figure like 90 euro :) When I tested the amp Engl screamer combo I almost reached the fender mexican shades. I was very surprised when I saw the price difference between the two guitars and sold fender mexican guitars. I just use harley benton. The keyboard is very comfortable, frets are very good, I would recommend it to anyone.
Suddenly, it became my main guitar!
I'ts true, this amazing Harley Benton suddenly became my main guitar. The neck profile is just right, not too thin, but even for me, with small hands, this feel right at home, since the shape of the profile is very ergonomic. The finish was spotless and the parts do their jobs. This is a guitar you can play right out of the box and don't feel like you're missing out. A 111¤ guitar that is as much an ST model as any big name rivals. I did eventually change the tremolo, but it wasn't necessary, just a personal preference, much like the mint green pickguard I also bought for it.
It's also a very light guitar, and balances really well on a strap, be it high, up in the torso area, or hanging lower at the waist. Looks to kill, plays like heaven, and sounds amazing, what else can you ask for? I will probably buy another one or two when they become available in stock again, just so I can be assured that if they ever get discontinued (which I think is unlikely, since they are just so good), that way, I know I have two backups. And the best part is, I can have 3 amazing guitars in a gig or rehearsal rotation, and I don't need to get a loan to do so. Everyone know how hard it is for a working musician to buy backups of our most loved guitar, usually people don't do it because it would simply cost too much, with the ST-62 you don't have that problem either. Come on, give her a try, you won't regret it!
