Harley Benton TE-70 Black Paisley Reviews
Great bang for the buck
Just arrived today and I'm very happy with it. Looks great and sounds good too. A lot of guitar for the price. Recommended.
I can't put it down
I have owned this guitar for exactly 24 hours as I write this, but I could not wait any longer to review. IT. IS. AMAZING. Plays as good as my F***er player series tele, and sounds even better, for a fraction of the price. I have a new favorite guitar, and this is it. Crystal clear, chimey, twangy, sparkling, glistening, raw tone. I highly recommend this guitar.
Beautiful Guitar
This was an excellent purchase.......not a flaw on it.......it sounds and plays great.....it needed some set up modifications but every guitar does......liked it so well the next week I purchased a TE 90 QM.......my Taylor T5z is now on eBay.......
Amazing Guitar
Amazing guitar for the price.
Finish and craftsmanship are unbelivible, the neck is beautifull and comfortable to play (only con are the frets that were a bit scratchy, burt with a little pacience and polish the problem was solved) and the body is light.
The tuners do their job well, and the bridge is amazing.
The pickups are ok, but in my case im going to replace, i find the neck pickup a bit to dark and numb, the bridge pickup is good but with a bit of gain it becomes a bit screamy.
But overal an amazing and beautiful guitar, specialy considering the price.
WOW
man it is not a perfect guitar but for the price, absolute steal! keep it up harley benton!
CONS:
-Machine heads not great quality. (switched no big deal)
-Nut slots roughly cutted. (switched)
-neck a little to thick and glossy for my taste (sanded down)
-neck pickup GREAT sounding but little too much backround noise (shielded)
-Frets not polished at all (polished)
SO if you plan to put your hands on it and spend a little bit more for upgrades it will an absolute deal. Pickups sound awesome.
Just don't expect a perfect guitar out of the box.
3rd Harley Benton
I was so impressed with the first 2 HB ( SC-450 plus vintage and the ST-62MN SB) that I decided to end the year with one more. I ordered the TE-70 Paisley to round out my small collection, and while I like the guitar I was disappointed in a few things . First off (and the biggest issue for me) the switch knob fell off in my hands and would not stay on so had to fix that, the pick guard had scratches on it, even though it was covered in that plastic stuff and the strings were very dirty. Not the end of the world , it's not like I just spent 3000.00 or anything , it's black your going see stuff it's the nature of the beast, but if I did spend the 3000.00 on the real deal it would be totally unacceptable, you almost think it was used and returned,...anyway moving on. The paisley finish wasn't as nice as I thought it would be, looks like it's a poorly focused pic printed on paper then lacquered over top, which is probably exactly what it is, it just makes the guitar look cheap unlike the others. The weight is nice which is one of the reasons along with the bridge that I went with this one over the TE-52, which now I feel like I should of picked instead just for cosmetic reasons. Other that that some tuning and cleaning and its a nice guitar, sounds good and the fat neck doesn't bother me. The set up is good didn't need to adjust the action. Overall a good guitar just not great like the other two.
Great guitar
Great guitar. Play it every day
Amazing
What a great Guitar it has that Country Twang that I want without the cost of a Fender. Quality Control is excellent played straight out of the box although after a few weeks of playing I had it set up again (personal choice) just to make sure it was Run In.
unbelievable value for money
Firstly i live in Scotland I ordered this on Thursday , Today is Tuesday and it was delivered this morning all for £144.00 including delivery.Ordering online was super easy and i received updates on confirmation and delivery
I cannot believe how good quality this guitar is for what i paid, visually it is stunning looking like something easily 5 times the price.
It sounds awesome much better than i had expected and i cant fault the Roswell pick ups. Straight from the box it just needed a quick tune up and it was playable. Action a little high for me but that,s an easy fix
Now i realize i probably sound like an advert for Harley Benton but genuinely there are no bad points. I am getting on a bit in age nearer 60 than 16 lol,but if i had got this as my first guitar at 16 i would have been over the moon , However it is by no means a cheap beginners guitar. The overall component quality is very good and i think where the money is saved is in production time so its has good quality components but has not had the time spent on it to make it perfect.
The frets are a bit scratchy and the fret ends whilst by no means bad could do with a polish so ill play it for a bit then change the strings and polish the frets it has a plastic nut which is cut okay for depth but protrudes slightly proud of the nut so ill probably change it when i change strings, as for tuners they feel okay and guitar holds tune well so ill leave them alone until i have any problems then ill upgrade them, volume tone controls pickup selector all feel good so again ill leave them alone until i have any problems, although i have to point out that i have a strat copy that i got 42 years ago with cheap electronics and its still going strong with all the original electronics and tuners so dont go replacing stuff just because its not branded if it works and sounds good leave it alone.Pick ups i see no reason to change these if what youre looking for is that tele sound there great.
So overall this is a fantastic guitar for the money just buy it spend a little bit of time not money on it or if you want to go the other way you could buy it and mod the hell out of it and still not have spent a fortune
One final note i have to say i am super impressed with Harley Benton
so if you can get passed the snobbery of Big Brand names there unbeatable
TE70 Black Paisley
Arrived in perfect condition.
Quite a bit setting up to do to lower action etc.
Lovely guitar, and it wont be my last.
Great for the money
this guitar is great for the money, comes with a solid bridge and the fretwork is good for a 140 pound guitar. I would pick this over a squire of the same value, considering I own both. pickups have a distinct tele sound and are very clear and bright. awesome guitar.
Harley Benton TE-70 Black Paisley
My second Harley Benton guitar. You wont be disappointed for the price, looks lovely. Single coil guitars are really not my thing BUT i felt i needed one to add to my collection.
The Harley Benton HB JA-60 OW i bought before this guitar was so good straight out the box, it needed no set up nothing.
This guitar did need work. The nut was tight & needed filing, it also had a couple of high frets. The set up cost me £35 witch is standard. I also put some new Wilkinson tuning pegs on it BUT that was my choice as i had a spare set at home.
All in all for the money it's a very nice guitar. With any new guitar you got to be prepared for it needing a set up or once over by a good luthier.
It's a great guitar for the money!
Excellent value guitar
Bought this for my wife to learn on - she loves it! Looks good, plays well and sounds like you would expect it to. The neck is very thick, but feels comfortable.
The only negative I've found is a slightly microphonic bridge pickup - not an issue to me.
Highly recommended!
Poor quality control
Arrived with a chipped nut and a deep gash in one of the frets, no damage to the packaging, so this leads me to believe that it left the factory in this condition.
I'm a home studio botherer and this was great right out of the box. I swapped strings for a lighter gauge as is my preference and away we went. Nice and easy action, no tweaking of the truss rod or bridge needed. Even the intonation was there or thereabouts. Good tonal variation between pick-ups. The fret ends aren't perfect but they're finished better than my fender player series Strat which also had a high fret (no such issue here) and was nearly 4 times the price...
I can't add anymore about the ridiculously low price that hasn't been said before, apart from it being £5 cheaper one week after I ordered it (thank you exchange rate!). If you want a Tele on a budget why are you still reading this? Get it bought!!
Amazing Instrument
Ohh is a awesome guitar, I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of the instrument components
beautiful
Great to play - awesome sounds - incredible price.
Sadly there is some glue on the neck and the strings. Bugging me.
was very impressed with the product and will continue to order products from your company i would have to say the quality was fantastic youhave earned lifelong customer
its ok
first of all, it looks gorgeous, very handsome guitar, it's in very good shape, nothing unfinished or sharp-edged, it's in a very good structural condition, it came almost in tune, string heights are very good, the neck is a bit chunky, keyboard feeling is okay,
soundwise; it's bit dull and deaf, I think its desperately needed for a pickup swap. then it may be something really great I don't know
Great Vintage Style Telecaster!
I always wanted to get a traditional telecaster. This one really surprised me for the price. The guitar looks fantastic and I'm very happy with the sound. The tuners seem to be doing there job as well. The guitar holds tune extremely well. The weight is just right.
The only issue I had was that the frets were not leveled properly. I wound up leveling and re-crowning 9 frets. This allowed me to get fairly low action with minimal buzzing.
The tuning stability and tone of this guitar are fantastic and I definitely recommend giving this guitar a shot. I really wanted a good sounding traditional telecaster and I'm happy with this guitar.
