This guitar looks amazing and sounds great too!

Getting a bit of ground loop issues with it, so had to run my gear though a power conditioner. Not sure if the guitar is causing this, but my other guitars don't do it.

Other than that, this is a lovely guitar. Nice low action, very playable.

The finish is great. One of the nicest looking pieces of gear in my studio.

Another Harley Bargain

This is a good Tele that looks cool and plays well.

Pros:

Looks good and authentic. I don't know if the rosewood veneer is really rosewood or a laminate and I don't really plan on damaging the surface to find out. It looks great. Bindings are clean and even and the neck is quality.

There is a bit of weight to the guitar but it's not too heavy. It's pretty comfortable to hold.

Cons:

The fretboard is quite dry. I haven't used any on it yet, but I've heard this is common to most of the Harley Benton Teles.

I had/have a sticking G string (snort!). I've replaced the string trees with Goldo roller units and it's made some difference. By the way, this is a very simple modification even for someone with no previous experience. Give it a try ;)

The electrics on this guitar aren't convincing me. I played this side by side with my Harley 335 the other day and the difference in output was drastic. Having said that it's got a good tone and sounds, you know, just like a tele.

I have tried to set this guitar up myself but can't quite get the perfect balance between fret buzz and low action. Out of the box this thing had a ridiculously high action. Upon lowering the action I got a lot of fret buzz. I've had a go at the truss rod but can't seem to get it perfect. I think I'll entrust this one to my local guitar pro (who's awesome, BTW - Hi Dar).

Conclusion:

Another really nice guitar from Harley Benton that, despite not being perfect, is perfectly awesome value for money when compared to the big name brands.

Okay Guitar for the Money

The guitar's finish is excellent.....but the pickups are very weak and microphonic. The string height was way out of wack (some strings were WAY higher than others). Whoever did the final QA on this guitar needs a refresher course on QA because the guitar was unplayable when I received it. After a couple of hours spent on action/intonation/neck relief, the guitar is now comfortable to play, however the pickups will need to be replaced because they feedback with the slightest amount of OD.

Very well built! Good details, no flaws. Sound is good, not awsome. BEST telecaster in this price range, with no doubt. Better than much more expensive guitars!

Rosewood telee... Harley BentonTE-70

Bought this guitar few months ago. Must say that the craftsmanship has very good quality, the guitar looks much better than on the pictures. The sound is acceptable but dont expect feneder telecaster sound for 150 euro. Strings are 9's which is really thin for my standard so i had to replace it with 10's. Locks hold the tune, no problem with them at all. To make it short: quite good sound of the pickups, it has the typical sound of 2 single coils, finish is awesome, id buy it again.

Really bloody good

I have had no issues with the guitar at all in it's delivery and the state it came in. The guitar itself sounds fantastic and looks beautiful and sounds great would rend not using it at higher gains since imo it sounds great clean. It's very bright and personally it needed no setup on arrival or since. It does have some of what i'm assuming is colour bleed around the bindings which you have to look very close to even see. The pickups have this weird metal Wilkinson logo on the pickups and especially the neck pickup will drop of ass you play if you remove the plastic on it which lets be honest you are at some point going to do but apart from those very minor mostly cosmetic problems the guitar is amazing.

Great value/quality/sound

Unbelievable quality for the price. It is the first Harley Benton I've bought - I've ordered two more on the strength of this purchase. It may not reach the standards of high-end users but for casual players like myself, it is a truly excellent guitar.

Faulty finish

This is the first cosmetically flawed Harley Benton I have received, generally they are very good quality or such a low price. However when I first started to play the TE-70 the Rosewood laminate started to break away from the edge of the guitar.

The shipping box was not damaged nor was the guitar edging, the laminate is simply coming off the guitar.

Incredible For The Price

I bought this as I've always liked the looks of the Japanese Tele Fender have recently started doing...and this is only £110. Not much to lose.

It came well protected for shipping (also ordered a TE-80, for my girlfriend's birthday, and other bits and bobs), lots of protective air - props for the safe packaging. The guitar itself is in a no-thrills cardboard box - who cares, it was packaged well. No gig bag - it was £110. Comes with a truss rod and 1/4 cable.

Guitar has all the annoying wrap over the pickguard and what not, ensuring it's new and not covered in fingerprints etc.

It's important to note that I'm writing this review in response to a £110 guitar.

The guitar played pretty well out the box. While it doesn't feel as good as my old Fender American Tele Deluxe (I was disappointed with it), it certainly doesn't lack anything, in terms of build quality. The main thing it lacks is smooth neck, again, this is only £110 and I don't think you can expect a crazy fast neck for that price.

Sounds great - just like a tele, which helps when you're buying one.

Finish is great for the price, looks awesome on the body and OK and no thrills back and side.

The only negative I've found is, a few light tuning adjustments need to be made once in a while, the G string can slip out after 3 songs or so: I may upgrade the machine heads to something a bit better, but they'll suffice on a guitar of £110.

I've yet to properly set this up, but so far it's an absolute steal. Great build quality, pretty good hardware and a great tele sound. For £110, I wish I had something of this quality as my first guitar. Will be using this primarily for recording and is sounding great through my Kemper.

A great guitar for the money...

The value to price ration on this guitar is VERY high. I was amazed how resonant it is. Very well made too. The body is beautiful with no flaws. Unbelievable that the price is so low. Nice wide neck, but with a low profile. Even the pickups sound pretty good. Excellent candidate for upgrading into a superb instrument. Who knew?

Great spec for price

Great service and prompt delivery as always, guitar was well packaged.

This guitar looks much better in the flesh, so to speak, the pictures on the site look good but once you unpack it from box looks even better, you wouldn't expect this kid of finish for the price.

Handling- this guitar feels comfortable, not too light or heavy, just as a tele should be.

Sound- The pick ups blend well together, especially middle position when playing rythmn, bridge pick up has plenty of bite when overdriven, without getting too muddy, and neck has plenty bass, just back off tone control a little to find your sound.

Set up- Set up out of box needed tweaked a little, tightened tuners, lowered action a little, bt neck relief was fine and control plate and knobs were very secure, appears to hold tune well so far.

A beautiful looking, great sounding telecaster, rosewood veneer is flawless and a real eyecatcher.

nice surprise

I have four Fender Teles and was always hoping to pick up a rosewood a la George Harrison but they were way too dear. However, when I spotted the Harley Benton copy for 139E I couldn't resist trying it and I'm glad I did. Okay, the purists will bitch, but life's too short for all that. The quality of the build is amazing, and the Wilkinson pickups pretty good for the money. I've been a guitarist now for 50 odd years and I have bought many guitars that cost more and were no better. Well worth the money.

Great guitar for the price.

Although you may need to set it up yourself (intonation etc) but its not a big job.

Great for beginner to intermediate players.

Genuinely Cool

I'll be honest, I love Rosewood Teles and bought this on a bit of a whim. The price is crazy cheap and it looked good in the fotos. When it arrived I was stunned how cool it looked. The binding was perfect, the frets were well finished, no sharp ends and the tuners were tight and precise.

Plugging it in was where I expected it to fall over, but the slightly warmer than Vintage Wilkinson pickups sound excellent, have a really nice tone and no fears of icepicks.

All together then, for the price this is an excellent guitar. I'd imagined I would be replacing pickups, tuners, bridge and everything else, but there really is no need. And that rosewood finish, wow.
