Harley Benton Valuestrings WE 12-53 Reviews
Buy bucket loads!!!
These strings work. They are not the best strings on the market but they will serve many players such as beginners and people using on rehearsal guitars. I've had them on my gigging guitar and have had no issues. The price is nuts!!! I will be buying again.
I've been using these for years and they're great!
I've been buying these strings for some years now and they simply offer the best price/performance ratio I've ever seen.
The sound is clear and bright for 1~2 weeks, but the strings hold up for much longer than that even though they will lose their clarity (but gain warmth instead). I've had expensive 18 euro coated strings and the difference for me is marginal between the two, except for the fact that I can practically buy 10 sets of the Harley Benton strings for one set of "good" strings. Maybe not suitable for studio or gigs, but they've been solid for me on my travel guitar and I always stock up a few just in case.
they are fine
I put these on my guitar with an open mind.
I usually change strings on my guitar every few weeks, and when I first put them on the guitar is always brighter. Not quite so much with these. I also noticed a buzzing in a few places that I don't get with my usual strings.
I changed back to my usual strings again, and I realised how poor these sounded.
I'll keep a set in my guitar case for emergencies, but for normal use, I'll stick to paying 3X more :)
Feel cheap, sound average
I tried these out and I just found them to be annoying.. They feel like plastic when you play them, there's barely any tension. You can't slap or pinch the strings too much or they will buzz. The sound is ok, but you have to strum extremely lightly. And they don't sound basy like bronze strings should.
This is ok if you only play with friends at a campfire. I would rather pay more and get better sound.
Price / Quality too good
Use on all my guitars
So cheap for a pack of strings, I'd rather stock up on these and replace full sets regularly, always super handy to have several of these around as well in each case/bag in case a string breaks while travelling.
Great strings not just because of value
Buy more expensive strings only for studio recordings! My bandmate uses specially coated high tech whatnot strings for 10x the price of these and granted, they sound better than these strings... for a while. After a few weeks there is not much difference and they die about the same time.
I think for really high gain metal, it might probably worth buying better strings, but for any other purpose (including and especially bedroom playing) stick to these. Your wallet will thank you.
Good strings
I use these as back ups in case I don't have my usual strings. I find them good.
THE STRINGS ARE OKAY. VERY GOOD SOUND.
The best value strings for the money
Affordable strings!
Great strings with a great price! Those HB Valuestrings must be included in any guitarist shopping bag, for a backup or to customize your own set!
Are they really value?
Comparing these strings with rather affordable D'addario 85/15 strings, I think that Harley Benton strings have only average sound. After testing three sets on two different guitars, I get the impression that the strings are suitable only for the standard tuning, and with each lower outfit, for example an open F tuning, the guitar sounds unclean to me. I think I will not buy these strings anymore, because in my opinion their main advantage is the very low price .
For the money...
Can't complain at the price point these strings are!
Fair strings, medium durability
Heavy gauge for acoustic guitars, I found them quite soft for the range but with only medium durability (on a daily use, they lasted a month and then dropped the sound quite easily)
Great Value Strings!
This was my first time ordering Harley Benton strings and I have to say that I am pretty impressed with the value Harley Benton provides. These strings are as good as big name brand strings that cost 4 times as much! Will definitely be buying more Harley Benton strings in the future!
So far so good
Not bad for a cheap string. Since it is dirt cheap, there's nothing to lose. I'm still not sure if it will hold up for a long time, but so far, tried it on my Martin DX1 and I would say it is good enough.
Great for their price but not what I am looking for.
These strings are really good compared to many other strings but I prefer different strings for my style.
Good quality value strings, last well, but top end drops off quickly
I bought lots of these for students, and generally speaking they seem great, particularly considering the cost. They do lose their brightness more quickly than most strings I've used, but overall, and considering the very low cost, these are excellent value for money, and perfectly usable, particularly for beginners / people practicing at home etc.
Very happy
Good strings for the money
Bargain!
I've been using various brands for my acoustic guitar strings. The problem is, I gig 6 nights a week so keeping fresh strings on was getting expensive. I thought I'd give these ultra cheap strings from Harley Benton a try, and I've not been disappointed.
In truth, I can hear a difference between these and other more expensive strings. They lack a little in the high end. But that difference isn't enough that your average pub audience is going to notice or care about. They're smooth and comfy to play, they hold tune and they sound fine. And now I can afford to change strings every few gigs!
Ideal for the guitar that doesn't leave the house
Not the best strings I've used, compared to the Martins I normally use they sound a bit less bright and more hollow. But if you have a child's guitar needs new strings or you have a guitar that's just for messing around on these work fine
