All Singing All Dancing Tester!

This unit enables you to test all of your stage cables including speaker cables which others testers do not. Also there is an Ethernet cable test also not on many other units. This tester is extremely easy to use, quite heavy for it's size but very robust, I spent a morning going through all of mi=y cables and it was done very quickly, highly recommend this unit

Cable Tester MCT-20

For the price this tester is a great deal. I use it all the time and it has never stopped working. Sturdy enough housing as well.

it seems all my cables are working

and that's good to know

This has almost every type of connection used in live events except for power. The ability to test CAT V has proved very useful when troubleshooting installs.

The plugs for the wire connections have fallen inside the housing, which has proved inconvenient.

Overall a good product, all the same features of some more expensive testers but at a substantially lower price

Very reliable and sturdy construction.

Great feature set at the price point, cannot complain at all!

Very useful unit

I play in a five piece rock band and am mainly responsible for the audio setup , so I have a bag full of XLR and 1/4 inch cables.

This unit was invaluable in setting up the PA to be able to quickly check my cables, coz they do get fizzley and stop working. Soldering iron time anyone - but thats a seperate topic.

The only thing I would like to see added to this would be a positive and negative sound to supplement the test.

A must have unit for the audio engineer / PA guy

Cable Tester

Great gear, saves a lot of throwing cables out the window!!

A tool Kit must have.

Able to test a huge selection of cables quickly and easily. simple to use, even for inexperienced users.

Only issue I've had is (after a lot of abuse admittedly) is the battery holder coming loose. not a major issue and something quickly solved with tape. still wouldn't be without one and would happily buy again

A Must have!

Excellent easy to use device; saved me a lot of time and disappointment during my live event setups. Highly recommended as a must have for any tool kit.

Well made and does the job

Well made and easy to use. I have already identified a few doggy cables that could potentially have given us sound problems at gigs. Definitely worth having one of these in your gig toolkit.

best buy !

First what impressed me is the size of this gadget and support for NL8 and CAT5

quality of parts aren`t excellent but for that money is the best shot on the market...

checked everything twice, its true ! :D

Extremely useful bit of kit

I bought this because I have started making my own cables, and it seemed like a good investment. I am sure it will also be very useful for diagnostics on the road. The price was very attractive and it seems very straightforward to use. It also includes a 9v battery tester, which is useful. Very handy for technicians or gigging musicians.

Very handy diagnostic tool

A must in the gig bag and great for tracking down the source of trouble caused by faulty cables. The quality is OK but the XLR connector was a little ill-fitting on one side. Metal casing and nice bright leds.

pretty bulky, but a massive time saver

This is bigger than you might think from the pictures, and its fairly weighty (its made from metal, not plastic like most multimeters), so take into account where your gonna keep this.

Having said that, it is extremely well put together and solid. Appears to be made from quality parts.

Very easy to use, just plug your cables in in either side (or the front) and turn the dial to check each conductor. Even without an instruction book you'll have it figured out in 30 seconds.

Its one of those pieces of kit that you hope to never have to use, but when you need it is invaluable and a massive time saver. the number of times I've spent messing about at gigs trying to find out why the PA isn't working, and this would have helped me find the problem in no time.

Essential kit, and can't see any benefit for paying more for something that does the same job.

Amazing

Great tool for the money, I would usually spend a few hours going through our inventory checking xlrs and speakons plugging them into the desk and mic checking them, this tool saved me valuable time and I had the whole venue red up in less than 20minutes.

Il be buying another for my touring accessories case.

Good value for the money

The tool initially came with the 9V battery compartment plastic drawer chipped at the corner. I didn't bother myself with sending the tool back but bought the replacement plastic part at the local electronics component supplier for like 5 EUR and am pretty happy ever since.

The features I use the most have saved me lots of nerves in the live situations: the sockets for checking the cables with TRS / XLR type plugs; the RJ-11/45 sockets are also fine if you are troubleshooting your LAN. And finally the simple continuity meter using the provided probes is a good reason not to carry your proper multimeter to a live gig. The unit is not battery hungry. Built like a tank.

The only donwsides are:

- the tool is guite bulky, it is around two average effect pedals size and weight wise

- there comes no gigbag with it, so I use a heavy duty blister packaging for carrying it around

If the tool gets broken or lost I would consider buying smaller one from the same maker.

Great Cable Tester

By far the best cable tester I've owned. Contains loads of different connectors, including a 5 Pin XLR, which is really handy for testing DMX leads. The continuity tester is really useful, however the leads packaged with are a bit cheap, and I had to replace the banana connectors that they came with.

Love love love

Price, amazing.....Product quality, amazing....Build quality, amazing.

At this price, its a steal, a must for any band or individual who has more than a few cables.

Big plus for a IT network boy...Cat5 tester....bonus!!

Indespensable

The Millenium MCT-20 is an indispensable piece of kit, that is both at home in the studio and on the road.

Operation is simple and the LED indications give clear readings. Never mind all this belling out of individual terminals with a multi-meter just plug each end of your cable into both connections and read open or closed circuit on all elements of your cable.

The MCT-20 will test all standard analogue audio cables; microphones, midi, phono, cat5, 1/4 and 3.5mm jack, speaker, with various configurations.

The unit also includes a handy continuity checker with audible indication, and an internal battery check.

Construction is a rugged metal enclosure with rubber feet to protect the most fragile of surfaces.

Overall a very keenly priced and simple to use piece of equipment.

Works great.

Only problem I have with this product is that the battery does not stay in. It has to be held in place to work correctly. When using the multi meter you don't really have any spare hands to be doing this.
