Proco Rat 2 Distortion Reviews
Grunge, Metal, Fuzz
I bought this pedal given its legendary reputation, but honestly I mostly like it because it's a mix between a more metal-like distortion sound and fuzz. It's a fun pedal! And the small-ish form factor helps with pedalboard real estate.
Exactly what you would expect
It is a RAT 100% , great range of tones and it is built like a tank.
Only thing I don't really like are the plastic feet screwed in the chassis... they don't really work well on a pedalboard
Amazing sound!!!
Legendary distortion, have been prettty much satisfied with my MXR Super Badass, but this RAT totally outshines it. Comfortably numb solo sounds like Gilmour finally (apart from my playing of course).
Phenomenal Distortion
The best distortion for the single coil guitars.
An understandable classic
Simple and effective, durable and versatile.
Sounds great with any guitar.
Regardless of your musical preference, you’ll be able to get at least one sound you like out of this pedal.
They also do a mini version, but the original isn’t so big that it’ll take up too much space on a pedal board.
It’s no wonder that this pedal is held in such high regard by so many.
exteptional.
one of a kind, truly exceptionally works with my p bass.
Like this pedal
It sounds great. Very familiar sound, actually. Even managed to attach it to my pedalboard.
Phenomenal sound
The sound is phenomenal. The housing is from metal sturdy and durable. There's nothing more to say, this pedal is unbeatable in it's genre. A truly great hardcore pedaleffect.
It's a rat
It loud, its dirty, it might take a while to get used to but I really enjoy it!
ponravitsya i podoydot dlya ikh stilya.
I just didn't like the sound. That's not mine. I think there are many music lovers who will like it and suit their style.
Amazing sound
Nothing to add, it sounds great
I wish I found this sooner
This pedal is incredibly good for its price. I wish I had found this sooner, it would have saved me quite some cash chasing good distortion sounds with more expensive pedals. It's the sound you hear in Blur - Song 2. I've always wanted it. Who knew it could be this simple?
Awesome pedal
Just awesome! Best distortion pedal i could have for the price!
Solid and screeching!
I really like this pedal. It's very solidly built, and covers me for a heavier distortion sound that I've recently started to play around with. I'm usually a subtler overdrive/amp in a box type, but recently had a hankering for something that could cover heavier distorted sounds, and this works perfectly for that. I also like the history that's behind the Rat pedal
Every bit as good as they say...
Personally, i like it better with the gain about half way, rather than the " overdrivish" or " fuzzy" tones
Some great disto but need a DI box when using with synths
Some great distortion to be had here but I did need a DI box to get it to play nice with my synths. All my other pedals have been okay without a box- but obviously, this is designed for guitar so.. Love the sound, preferred over lots of other disto pedals & fx units so all-in-all well worth a bit of tinkering to get desired results. Win.
Very good, vintage sounding pedal.
This is one of the best OD/DS pedals I use. I use it for all sorts of music- rock, metal (although I would suggest putting a ts-9 before it for metal), pop and funk. I love it's flexible tone, it's very easy to change and simple to use. The pots and the RAT print glow in the dark, which gives it a bad-ass look when used in blacked out rooms. Only issue to me is that it has no battery slot, disabling it from being placed on a wireless pedalboard. Other than that it does it's job damn well!
Great Distortion
It’s a really cool distortion with a classic sound. Really solid and durable. The shipping was great too. For what it’s worth, I would recommend it.
Proco Rat Is A Classic
I use the RAT as a light Distortion to a Fuzz and it has always done the trick for me. it can also be used in long chains with out clapping signal.
I have been using it for 2 years now and its a very nice and affordable Dist. pedal.
there is maybe one con about it.
it can be hard to lvl match with a booster, but with some practice you can get it.
i recommend anybody thats looking for a fun Dist. - fuzz pedal to try this badass out. :)
Rock on guys
Love this pedal
What to say,
Handles gain very well and is great especially for the very high gain stuff. Can also be used as a heavy fuzz pedal
