Very Good

Used this for recording acoustic guitar. Not the most expensive or "sassy" but does the job very well.

clear as a bell

Really impressed by these mics from the first use, really clear and useful for podium speakers and acoustic instruments. Whatever you need it for the price cant be beat.

Great for the price!

It is good mic for acoustic guitar. I use it in combination with large diagram mic to get extra high frequencies of my Taylor guitar. Also tried for vocal in the rehearsal room and it sound great without microphony. Great piece of equipment for home recording.

good budget all-aroud microphone

Variable power options, HPF and two step pad and also handling noise rejection makes it very versatile for at site work. Sound is acceptable and so is also price.

Perfect all-rounder.

Very versatile and can be used for just about anything. Surprisingly good sound for the price, sturdy construction - and the battery option is really handy. I first used this as an ambient room mic (set up as per a shotgun), as far from the kit as I could get it and it worked so well I almost felt like I didn't need anything else other than the vocal mics. Although my efforts are directed at recreating a vintage mid-century vibe, I think this peice of kit would come in very handy, no matter what.

The Rode M3 is incredibly Versatile! Allowing to bring your sound to a next Level. I highly recommend! Great quality at a lower

The M3 feels robust, and the supplied stand adaptor looks unbreakable. I ran the mic on phantom, from an installed battery, and with phantom when the battery was installed and it worked perfectly on each occasion.

A well-engineered microphone that is capable of handling just about anything, any instrument with a remarkable degree of competence for the price. Smooth-sounding, with good extension at both ends of the spectrum, and the ability to cope with high SPLs, this is a very flexible mic, aided further by its ability to run on an internal 9V battery or phantom power.

Pros:

Extended frequency response with smooth extremes.

Battery and phantom powering.

Gentle presence peak for subtle air.

Switchable HPF and pads.

Cons:

No body-switch markings.

Vocals, acoustic, amps

This is my all-round mic. It does it all from Vocals, Acoustic guitar and even guitar amps micing!

Love the attenuator feature; -10dB and -20dB

The -20 is only to be used for very loud sources!

For home recording I use the -10dB as it helps to reduce the guitar amplifier noise.

For vocals and acoustic 0dB is working fine.

Built like a tank! Very heavy! I like it! Sounds warmer and rounder than my SM57 clone. Also much louder than my 57 clone.

So far very happy with this mic! Time will tell how long it lasts but with the 10 year Rode Warranty one can't loose anything! Great deal!

Fantastic All Round Mic

I use this microphone for everything from overheads to guitar cabs and even vocals. Its incredibly directional and has lots of warmth that makes it a great all round mic

Recommended

I have been using this microphone since May this year mainly for live situations amplifying acoustic guitars.

Whatever you put in front of this mic, you will get a good and

natural sound.

On live situation it does what it should. If phantom-power is not available, you can go with the battery.

M3 is a well-built high-quality mic.

A great product. Recommended.

Way better than expected

I use this microphone to record classical and acoustic guitars but I tried to record also flute and vocals and the result is awesome. I totally recommend for those who are starting a studio and want to record more instruments on a budget.

Finally replaced my C1000 and very happy

For many years I used without fail a C1000 for all sorts of recording (acoustic instruments) and was very happy. After an 'incident' it was time to replace it. I was not sure whether to go for a newer Version of the C1000 or the Rode M3, but very happy I went for the Rode.

It is built like a brick and soundwise, I actually prefer it to the C1000, to my ears it has a fuller more transparent sound. It handles vibration well, but ditch the mic clip for a nice shock-mount clamp.

All in all very nice mic. I might even get another.
