Rode NT1-A Complete Vocal Recording Reviews
best option to start recording
If you are in the early periods of recording (i.e. vocals or instruments), this set is the best option to begin with. I have used it on vocals and instrument recordings at home and it works well. It does not capture unwanted sounds coming from outside such as cars, neighbors etc. It will give you what you want.
Included shock mount and pop filter are quality products which is nice to have with the microphone. You should be aware that the whole set is a bit heavy so you better pick a solid microphone stand to carry the set.
You should also be aware of the frequency response of the microphone. There are various amounts of boosts above 1k which increases presence and clarity overall. If you want more flat sound, you can check NT1 as an alternative.
Rode NT1-A is a nice bright microphone which will cover your needs in general. If you want to achieve studio quality sound, you can later upgrade your microphone to more expensive alternatives but you will need to have a nice audio interface/preamp and good room accoustics as well.
Super quiet and clean condenser
Rode NT1-A speaks for itself; it's amazingly quiet good sounding large condenser mic. The price/quality ratio is amazing. It's great on vocals, but can be used for a wide variety of other purposes too (guitar, sound effects, etc.).
The pop filter is great no complaints there, but I find the shock mount way too heavy and bulky. Still, it functions without any issues. The microphone itself is quite heavy too, but it's meant for studio use anyway, so it's ok.
Get this without hesitation as go-to large-diaphragm condenser kit if sound quality and low self-noise is your priority.
Mic class A
For homestudio the best choice!!!
Very useful and complete set with almost perfect microphone.
This kit has everything you need to start your vocal training. Just add any tripod or stand (K&M 258 Wedge stand is perfect match if you have any furniture in sound room) and discover new capabilities of your voice. This microphone surprised me by clarity, and accuracy of voice transmission. As well as significant noise reduction from backward of its cardioid pattern. The only thing you may be not expect - you need to supply it with 24-48v phantom power, because it is true condenser microphone. The sensitivity is not very high, so it will hide some installation faults as well as unwanted noises. I wish it will have some pattern switches and low frequency cut filter in next version.
I am using it in my home studio for recording vocals and guitars, or just to sing. I was surprised how good this microphone is, it sounds delicate. The build quality is excellent and it's not expensive.
Glad I bought it.
Perfect microphone for studio use
A perfect budget friendly and high quality microphone suitable for any type of recording, both vocal or instrumental. Very clean sound and sensitive both on low or high frequencies, ideal for every studio use (even professional). I use the Behringer u-phoria umc204HD sound interface and I am pretty excited with the final result every time I use the microphone. The shock mount and pop filter that comes with are excellent. Highly recommended for every one who seeks for a professional sound without hurting their wallet.
Nice!
3 days delivery to Lithuania. Quality on high level :)
Nice tool in the studio
I have lots of microphones in the studio and this one works great for some vocals and other instruments. I have a singer friend who uses it at home and makes wonderful vocal tracks. I recommend it as an affordable quality mic.
Love this mic
I absolutely love this microphone, the sound from it is great and I love the fact that it comes with a stand, shock mount and the pop filter. We tested this mic in a radio station and it sounded much clearer then the studio mics that cost much more. I love the way when your playing back your audio and hearing how crisp your voice sounds. Hands down would recommend this to anyone.
Great Price
Great quality for the price! I was surprised by how crisp and quiet this microphone is! Highly recommend it
One of the best microphones for this price.
For a long time i used dynamic microphone for vocal recording. It was enough for me, but i decided to take something better for vocal recording. In this price range,i looked for many different microphones. I saw reviews, read opinions, and in the end i choosed Rode NT1-A. I am using it with Focusrite scarlett solo, and the results of recordings makes me happy. With microphone also comes shockmount(with built pop-filter) and cable. For vocal recording one of the best microphones for this price. Maybe only disadvantage of that microphone, it does not have a low-frequency filter and an attenuator. It may be important for some. But for me it's not critical. It sounds great with vocals and i have no regrets for choosing it. I can recommend Rode NT1-A, for its price sounds very well.
Very good mic. Very low noise and best quality
Great microphone for a few bucks.
Usage:
I've ordered this one as a starter for my home recording studio and I use it still even though I have another mikes now as well.
Pros:
- Clear & balanced sound(Although you will find yourself cutting frequencies on eq more often than gaining)
- Great shock-mount
- Variety of sounds you can get by recording far/close/off-on axis
Cons:
- Sometimes putting cable into mike is a pain
Overall this is a great mike for it's price and I'm sure you will be satisfied.
Sound very real
It sound like whatever you put in front of it, than you have to decide if it's a good thing or not
The only thing i can complain about is tha the pop arm it's no fully detachable from the shock mount, but for what it costs is already a steal!
voice over recording
very nice quality, feels like a far more expensive kit. It is quite heavy when using a boom stand so do plan ahead for a heavy microphone/boom stand or plan for weights if you need to extend out
I love this microphone.
Good quality, for some reason they call it the quietest microphone in the world, because it really is.
It gives very good presence to the female voices.
my home studio recordings has improved a lot, thanks to this microphone.
Great microphone for that price !!!
The best choice in this price range.
I use this mic for recording vocals and acoustic or classic guitars. Even for percussion. The result every time is wonderful. No noise, just clear nice sounds. You will not regret getting this one.
Budget no brainer
If your looking at recording vocals on a budget, this is probably the easiest choice to go for.
Excellent clear warm sound with a nice low noise floor. Plus it comes with a shock mount and pop shield included in the bundle.
Rode construction is excellent. Definitely doesn't feel like a sub £150 mic.
Great first mic for voice recording
I needed a microphone for voiceover recordings and I got the NT1-A. A very good microphone with a very good dynamic range.
Pros:
- high quality microphone
- included shock mount
- included XLR cable
- included mesh pop filter
Cons: the pop filter mounts directly onto the shock mount, and you might want consider buying a pop filter that mounts on the mic stand.
RECOMMENDED x10000
Probably THE best studio condenser mic you can get with less than 200 euros. Some claim it to be better than a lot of mics in the 600-800 euro area (and I dont think it's far-fetched). You get a very warm input which works very well for both male and female voices and for a range of styles. The Shock-mount and pop-filter is also of awesome quality! RODE Really knows what they are doing! Even some Professional studios use these mics for some applications. RECOMMENDED x10000
