Shure SE215-CL Reviews
Great ear monitor
Ideal for use during live performance. Good sound quality and comfort considering the price. These certainly do the job well without having to pay a sky high price for the more up market models.
Best by a mile in their category
I bought these to be IEM's with my wireless set up and they were fantastic.
Stayed in ears no problem at all with volume for days and excellent sound reproduction. They soon became my gym headphones and finally my everyday go to's. They really sound that good.
The passive noise cancelling is also very good and the wide variety of included tips is great!
they are reasonably comfortable to wear but after a long while, my ears did start to ache somewhat.
the quality is great, however my pair did suffer a faulty driver. After a few months too!
I wrote to shure who happily replaced the product, not just the driver! Excellent customer service
Amazing sure
I used to have a prehistoric sure earphone, the first with noise isolation, but I am really happy with the improvements, now is easy to change the cable and to put in the ear.
Amazing sound, I use when I am playing electronica drums, when I am relaxing studying and walking on the noise street.
Good choice, if you can't afford molded ones
I got my hands on a T.Bone IEM 75 system and naturally I was expecting the out of the box earphones to be... well, not quite suitable for the job. Truth is, the supplied earphones don't sound too bad, I'm using them now to "daily" activities such as ipod listening, but they keep dropping from their position with the slightest movement.
So, I found myself in need of a more suitable set of earphones for IEM purposes. After some digging around I noticed that the Shure SE215-CL had overall better comments so those were the ones I've got. The best thing about them is how good they fit into your ear, thus having a direct impact on how well they seal, maximizing low frequency delivery.
In terms of sound, I didn't find them to be amazing, just simply good. I haven't tried IEM-purpose earphones before, so I don't know if the spectrum of frequencies they deliver is supposed to facilitate specially the middle ones; if that's the case, they my bad, they do exactly as they're supposed to. If not, I would say the that the range of frequencies they deliver in practice feels a bit limited, as in "could be richer" rather than "sounds pretty bad".
The SE215-CL are very comfortable. The provided isolating sleeves work marvelously. The construction feels very professional, and the flexible cable allows for easy placement and performance.
in ear
the product is very well presented, the building materials appear to be of high quality, the provision of very good standard, hard to find the right parts suitable for the compliance of its ear.
The cable length is good, we say the right one, looks very strong, very useful thing.
Moving on to the most important quality, the soundproofing is remarkable, nearly that of highly-insulating headphones for drummers, which is a good thing, if you decide to use an on-ear monitors should feel and isolate themselves from the rest of the right otherwise it will be useless.
The audio quality is the standard, still great for the use to which it is destined.
In summary great product, even if the second low-end Shure is certainly a good buy and promises optimum durability. advised.
Could be better
I must admit that I expected a little bit more of these Shure SE215-CL headphones.
In general I have an impression that they are very good quality made, they are also very stable and not falling out of the ears, and if you use them for listening to your click tracks only, then those are a good choice.
However, I'm not very satisfied with the sound quality when I use them as my in ear monitoring. The sound is mostly in High and Mid range, and the bass frequencies are really missing. Therefore, the entire sound image appears kind of "thin". Except for the bass frequencies are missing, it seems to me that the headphones lack for some parts within the frequency spectrum. I have noticed that some click sounds are pretty much changed in these headphones. It took me a lot of experimenting until I found the right click sound that can be more or less realistically reproduced by these headphones.
On the other hand, the build quality is phenomenal. I think the cable will last for a lifetime, and the earpads seems indissoluble.
Too bad that the sound is not at that level, but probably more expensive models have this problem solved.
Tinny sound
Maybe it's my lack of understanding about hardware but surely if you can get decent Hi Fi earphones for this price then why not IEM headphones ?
For some reason you have to spend around ¤300 to get decent quality sound !!
These earphones have only "one driver" and therefore have very little low end. Everything sounds very tinny.
Anyway... I used them a couple of times on stage and in rehearsal but the sound quality just doesn't do it for me (I'm the vocalist and guitar player). I reckon I should have bitten the bullet and spent a few quid more for a better set.
Great first in-ear monitors
I have been using these monitors for about a year now and am still impressed about the quality they offer for the relatively little price. If you want to try out IEM without spending hundreds of bucks, these little things offer you a decent experience.
They come with a couple of different earpads which I recommend trying out in detail. Comfort and isolation will greatly depend on the chosen earpads. My ear canals are pretty tight and I found the smallest of the grey rubber earpads to be the best choice.
Once you get a good, tight seal, you have the best conditions for a good in-ear sound. The SE215 do not exactly sound like a pair of Hi-Fi or studio reference headphones since they pronounce the mids a fair bit and roll off some of the highs and lows. For live application I didn't find this to be much of an issue since the most critical sound information lies in the mids and they are reproduced well. You can compensate for their tone by using an equalizer, but if you are looking for a true linear or more bass-heavy sound, you might want to look into something else.
The quality is great, I especially like the design of the part of the cable which runs around your ear. This ensures a very good fit, even if you are moving a lot.
In - EAR monitors: Shure SE215-CL
After having thee monitors for over a month, I am very very pleased with them. The noise canceling is great and also the quality and comfort is great also. Because i am a drummer they are a great tool as i can listen to backing tracks at reasonable level through them while being able to hear the drums perfectly at a reduced level. They are great value really. i would highly recommend these In-ear monitors to any drummer looking to pick up a set
Great buy!
I bought these for my first iem system and a still use them after upgrading the system.
The sound:
Good clarity for the money. I mainly have my vocal, acoustic guitar (sounds very nice), keys and backing vocals coming through and it has the range for all of them. Bottom end is great for acoustic guitar, good for bass.
The Fit:
Good fit, comes with a range of different size plugs so you're shure to fit your fit :)
I bend the section of wire that goes over the ear and it holds the shape for the duration of a gig.
Noise Cancelling:
I had to loosen them in my ear a few times because i was struggling to hear the drums. That good!
Overall:
I don't know how good moulded headphones but at six or seven times the price of these, I'll never know. Fantastic!
Shure SE215's
I've been using these as earbuds for an on-stage IEM setup and for the money I've been very pleased with the performance.
Sound quality is good, and you can block out a reasonable amount of the ambient stage noise (drums in my case) whilst still being able to hear your vocals through the monitor mix.
I would recommend taking the time to experiment with the supplied tips to obtain the best fit for your ears in terms of comfort and sound isolation.
The supplied carrying case is reasonable and means that you can keep every thing clean and safe when transporting them.
Bought so I can do monitor engineer gigs but didn't want to spend too much on a pair of in-ears since I don't do monitor gigs that often.
Noise cancelling is great, I use these often in place of regular ear plugs as the cancelling is so good. The foam ear plugs supplied come in different sizes but can be quite fragile and a couple have ripped on me. They can be uncomfortable if using ill-fitting ear plugs.
Sound is great, really good quality. Can't fault them.
The plastic on the cable at the ear bud end can be a little more fragile than I'd like. The wire inside mine that shapes it to the ear snapped and broke through the plastic which is a bit uncomfortable. The good thing is though that instead of replacing the whole product, you can just buy a new cable which is easily fitted.
Amazing quality, better price.
I had for a while been struggling with whether or not I should go ahead and purchase a set of in ear monitors and when I found these I needn't look further. When they arrived I was delighted to see that they were incredibly well built with a great little carry case which fits perfectly in a stick bag or rucksack.
My main concert as a somewhat heavy handed drummer was whether or not the the isolation would be good enough without having to drive them to hard to hear what was being played.
That wasn't an issue at all I can even use my phone pushed about half way and still have a crystal clear signal.
The only issues I would say I have are that the ear buds are somewhat difficult to remove and that the audio is some what lacking in the bottom end.
For general music enjoying on the go these would do the job but as a musician I would really only use them for recording and gigging, just bare in mind that the lower end of the frequency spectrum isn't as well defined and therefore you may perhaps struggle to hear some of the bass parts, so perhaps just make sure to try and mix them a little higher.
Great In Ears for the price. After reading multiple reviews I decided on getting these and I am pretty happy with them.
The cancel a lot of outside sound which is great when you want to protect your ears. The sound is pretty good, but they do lack a little bit of definition in lower bass register, but still sound good for a single driver!
Sturdy and I love the replaceable cable feature!
Good however sometimes uncomfortable.
Overall a good in-ear however the hard plastic casing and awkward shape, make them sometimes uncomfortable in your ears for long periods. Probably depends on ear shape.
sweet
great price
Exceptional Value
I bought these because my church has recently moved to a in-ear monitoring system, they had good reviews, and they didn't cost the earth. I am very impressed. Using the foam-like buds they form a very good seal (I can stand next to a drum kit and not hear it!) . The sound quality is excellent - not too much low end, and a nice balanced middle and high end. But most of all they are very robustly made, and the cable is replaceable, not that I have had any need to do this (nor any concern). I'm sure the next models up in this range are great, but I just don't really see the need because at this price, the Shure SE215's are unbeatable.
Excellent Purchase
Very happy I bought this product. The quality from them is phenomenal and they do exactly what you would want them to. Even as everyday headphones there is a great quality to these products. I prefer to keep them for stage use and i have had no issues with them. They come with different fittings and the bit that goes around your ear is very flexible so there is no problems fitting them comfortably. Great buy, you won't be disappointed
Shure in ears
Great in ears. Have to say i was sceptical about changing from floor wedge to in ears for my keyboard rig but once i tried these i have to say im hooked. I use them every weekend up to 4 times per week and they are still going strong. as long as you take care of these units i imagine they will last a long time. Great value for money and well up the task of constant use on the road
Perfect addition to radio set
I purchased these as an upgrade to the t.bone IEM 75 earphones. Together they work perfectly. Although the earphones that cam with it are OK the Shure SE215-CL really give the professional quality to the set up.
