Shure SE215-CL Reviews
I'm new to in-ear monitoring but have been looking forward to it very much - being a cello player I found it hard to keep the intonation perfect with all the noise on stage around with the on-stage monitors, drummer, pub noise, etc. I'm so far very happy with this purchase, having control over the volume and monitor mix I get put an end to a long battle with bandmates and stress of not hearing what I need to hear. Also having ears that can't handle loud volume, this is just the job! Comfortable to wear, easy to use and decent sound quality. I find the cables slightly too short as the headphone amp I use is not a clip-on one.
dont get anything cheaper
I got these after the T.bone EP4's and the quality is soo much better. its fairly full frequencied. a good entry level. great quality build, decent sound. Not the best you can get, but do your ears a favour and dont go any worse.
A great addition to your on stage in ears
I bought these as my SE115's had started to wear after 3 years of continuous wear! These are a great pair of earphones with a great sound and they are really comfortable. Love the fact you can buy a replacement cable which will hopefully save me having to buy a new pair when this cable starts to go in a few years time. Noise cancellation is amazing especially when on stage with a full band. Top Notch!
Standart of an inear monitors
Our band bought these in-ears few month ago. So I will tell you few words from our band experience.
They are fine if you are a singer. For this price its probably one of the best standard monitors for singers. Don't expect that your voice will sound better, but you will hear your voice well.
They are fine for guitarists. They give a true sound in their dynamic range.
As for the bass... I won't recommend them for bass guitarists. They don't give enough bass, if you will make louder you will hear bass but they are not made for bass purpose,so you will feel very uncomfortable. For the rest of the team its ok to hear the bass not so loud, but bassist must look on the other monitors.
So in total I am glad with these monitors, they are standard and well built first level in-ears.
Shure SE215-CL
What a difference, when compared to other ear-buds. So easy now to balance the sound through the mixing desk. Also use them with my MP4 as the bass line in increased. Takes a little time to wear correctly but Tip top.
Great for drummers
I use these in-ear-phones when playing drums and they are really good for musicians. The headphones cancel out the noise just the right amount to play along to some music and still hear what you are playing.
I have used these for over a year and they still work perfectly even though I read some reviews before purchasing that they will break easily. I am sure that they will work for another year and when they eventually break, i can easily replace the cable and use them for even longer.
I really like the sound quality despite being the cheaper headphones from the Shure SE series.
I also think that they are great for studio and live drummers as you can wear them for a long time without hurting your ears.
Good quality earbuds
I use these as in ear monitors when I'm performing and practicing .. I find the whole concept of in ear monitors to have revolutionised my playing ( the ability to hear ur own personal sound in your ear ... crystal clear has definately enhanced my playing
These earbud are made of good quality material .. Able to take a bit of abuse ...
The sound quality is very natural ... Neither the highs or lows are too much pretty much gives a flat balanced sound ...
For the price they are they are worth the money , sure you could go for a higher spec earbud .. But with that comes more money ... And for what it's needed for these fit the job perfectly ..
Lovely in-ears!
These in-ears are the first pair I've ever bought and all I can say is that I absolutely love them!
It gives you a rich bass and middle for the rhythm-guitar and vocals, and a high end for those screaming guitar-notes and high pitch!
It fits perfectly without chafing around the ear.
Great phones...
Excellent headphones. I'm a drummer so I have to contend with a lot of up-close volume and harmful frequencies. These cancel out all unwanted backline noise and fit snugly in the ear (the choice of bud size/type is a big help). I move my head about a lot when playing and these never budge. If you take them out during the gig you can really see how much backline noise they actually cancel out. Lovely rounded sound, all the frequencies in place and loads of bottom end (drummers LOVE bottom end!). Some in-ear headphones are a ridiculous price- for the money, these are excellent.
Great headphones, cable lasted less than a week
The sound, soundscape, comfort, ease of use, and feel of the drivers themselves is great, however the cable gave out after less than a week of usage, with the jack end cutting out half the signal when not bent in a certain way (away from its normal resting position). Very disappointed.
Shure SE215 - CL
Fantastic piece! Love them! Very comfortable, Look great and sound brilliant.
Ive tried the better models and in my opionion very little difference! Great isolation on them too! Comes with plenty of other size ear buds which was good too.
I use them for mainly live situations for Bass Guitar and Drums, No problem with the low frequecies!
Only issue I had with them was the cable, It had to be replaced once.
Other than that no issues!
Great sound , look good and reasonably priced
we bought these for our piano player/lead vocalist. He needed a good acoustic seal as he sits right next to the drummer. Surprisingly good low end performance for a single driver. Good clear highs also. The cable is so much sturdier than the alternatives we considered. The detachable cable is especially useful if it ever needs replaced so no need to buy a complete new set of ear phones. A useful carry case with belt clip is included together with cleaning tool and spare ear buds.
fitting the ear phones snugly and tightly into your ear takes a bit of practice and patience but once correctly in place you won't regret choosing the SE215 s.
Very good entry level inears
I am using these inears for keyboard monitoring. Originally I planned to invest way more money for custom inears, but then I decided to try out the SE215 first. I figured if I don't like them, I will not loose too much money. But if I like them, I will save a lot.
So the bottom line: I like them very much.
The build quality is very good. They have a nice size that fits my ears quite well. The thick cable can be formed to fit around your ear. I am using the medium foam ear pieces and at first I thought that they felt a bit uncomfortable, but I adjusted to this and after about 2 hours and now I like the fit of the foam. Even after 2 to 3 hours of wearing them, my ears don't hurt.
The noise isolation is excellent. You don't need to turn up the volume on a loud stage.
I do also like the sound of these earphones. The bass is very strong but has a lot of definition. Midrange is good, I can hear voices clearly. Highs could be a little stronger in my opinion, but maybe they would then be too aggressive. The sound of the earphones can be shaped with an eq very well.
All in all, buying these phones has saved me a great deal of money. I definitely don't need to upgrade to custom inears in the near or medium future.
perfect
these inears are perfect for my needs as a live drummer. I've had no issues so far (been using them for about 9 months). They wear nicely and deliver a very rounded an precise sound. Cancelling of surround sound is almost like wearing decent foam ear plugs. What is very important: the drums sound good through them even without signal from the mixer.
It took me a while to find out how to insert them into the ear, though. To tell left from right is pretty difficult in stage light, too (small red an blue dots). I would stick a piece of gaffer on the left side to tell them apart. Maybe Shure could do something like it?
Great Headphones for great price
Hi!
At first i would like to excuse my insufficient English skills.
I'm from germany, but i'll do my best, so that you can understand my opinion on this product.
It took me a long time to choose a price range.
At last i decided to spend 100-150€.
I compared the Shure Se 215 + Shure 315 + tBone Ep7 and the Se 215 won, but why?
All 3 In-Ear Headphones sound great, so you'll propably be happy with each one of them :) But i'll try to compare them.
The tBones have a great sound in the lows.
The bass is very direct and deep.
Mids + Highs are ok.
They look pretty good.
The Se 315 have a bit less bass .
But for me it seems like the high frequencies are a bit clearer and better.
The Se 215 sounds very very similar.
There's only a bit less resolution.
They sound only a tiny bit "muffled " compared to the 315.
But I got the impression, that the bass in the 215 is a bit more present than in the se 315 ( even it's not that clear).
For me the tBones have 2 problems :
- You can't change the cable ( when the cable is broken, you have to buy completely new ones)
- You can't bend the cable to you ears that good.
That's why they lost.
The difference between the 215 + 315 were very slight.
That's why i decided to use the 215, and i did not regret that.
Btw the 215 are also great headphones for listening to music.
A very clear sound :)
I hope you understand everything.
If you want to spend only a few money but you want to have good quality, you should go for the Se215.
Recommended!
Have had these earphones for a few days now (would have been longer but first pair were faulty) and they are proving to be extremely useful!
Bought them so I would be able to hear my acoustic guitar and vocals when doing live performances (monitoring) and Ive got to say they work a charm. They cut out a lot of the background noise due to the foam styled ear pieces which I have found helps protect my hearing from other on stage loudness and the quality that comes through is very good.
They have a great bass response and everything sounds so clear and natural.
I use them as part of a cheap wired in ear monitoring solution and they seem to fit that purpose well. However, due to the amount of noise they block out, I would NOT recommend using them to listen to music whilst running/jogging etc. I can listen to music on my phone with them and not hear what someone stood directly in front of me is saying at all...
Other than that they're absolutely fantastic for the price and once you get used to them they're really easy to fit in the ear.
A superb product
These are truly excellent In Ear Monitors (IEMS).
They may not be as pricey as most other models and makes but they are absolutely awesome. These are my first IEMS so I was blown away by the comfort and sound.
First I recommend, if you are having trouble with them that you try some of the different tips that come with them. Lots of people like the 'triple flange' type that you can buy separately (not included). I cannot comment on these as I have not tried them. For me personally the 'standard' rubber ones were ok but the small silicon type were perfect. They squish into your ear without having to 'smush' them down to fit.
The sound quality - WOW! It was like the singers are in my head! I purchased these primarily for stage use but I have started using these on the bus - even better. They totally block out the noise so all you can here is music. You can get totally absorbed. You can hear symbols and all sorts that you may not have heard previously.
Sound isolation - incredible. One of the bands I play in rehearse in a very small room with a very loud drummer - no more ringing ears! The drums still get through, but that might be bleed from the microphones. For example - with the IEMS in but no music playing I can just about hear somebody talking next to me. With music playing no way. I watched a film with them in and I could not hear my family calling me.
In short these are really good IEMS for stage or just music. If you want to get into IEMS without breaking the bank these are the ones to get! I thought I would like custom moulded IEMS eventually, but these will last me a lot longer than I thought.
Great value earphones
Excellent at this price level. I would think anybody with "normal" ears can find a comfortable fitting from the available plugs. Sound quality leaves really nothing to ask for except perhaps a bit too much bass. Cables are durable and plugs sturdy.
Excellent quality monitors
I purchased these to allow me to monitor my keyboards on stage ... And ... They are perfect. Much lighter than a speaker :-) fantastic sound quality pianos sound fantastic synths and pads all great. Very comfortable once you get the right size of plug for your inner ear. The whole band have switched to inner ear monitors.
Amazing Value for money!
If you can't quite afford custom in-ears, or even the more expensive IEM's, then I can't recommend the Shure SE 215's enough. I use these at practice and on-stage. The noise cancellation is 1st class, lower end frequencies are unbelievable for a budget IEM. The higher end isn't as good, but at this price they are ideal.
