Shure SM58 LC 5-stars Reviews
Work Horse
I've been playing gigs for over 30 years. This is the mic that is the standard choice of sound men and singers for as long as I can remember. You can spend a lot of money getting a more powerful or more sensitive with more this or that, but the SM58 is still the one I'll come back to for comfort. Simply because I know how it responds. And it responds well. There is no other mic that compares with it. It's the chosen one!
The mic that everyone knows
It may not have the best sound, but it is the most widely used and de facto standard vocal mic for several decades now. It is very robust and durable, it is a kind of mic that you buy once and then you have a mic for a lifetime.
it is what it is
It's an SM58, great vocal mic, will take years of abuse and can double as an insturment mic if needed
Trusy, Standard Dynamic Mic
This mic is a great choice in many cases. If your looking for an inexpensive standard mic, it's hard to find something better than an SM58. Long lasting & durable, you can definitely take it on the road. The bag it comes with is good quality, handy & useful. This mic is nothing special in terms of sound. If you really want your vocals to shine(for example if your a lead vocalist), think maybe of investing in a good quality condenser microphone that can give more justice to your unique vocal sound. Very happy I bought this mic, I use it for rehearsal and it always works a charm.
Sm58
Sm58 is industry standard and for good reason, it can withstand rough handling and built like a brick, it has a decent sound and is good value for money. Buy or cry :-)
A great 'industry standard'
I love these mics. They are a great 'all rounder' mic and are suitable for a range of applications. They are great for vocals and give a warm, rounded tone. I have found that when hiring out rigs to people they always ask for SM58's. These are a must for any hire company.
Very good!
Got it three years ago and it's gigged and traveled all over and keeps it's same tone and power. Handy thing really. Just pug in and play. No switches or anything!
Shure sm58 - hero!
I have to say, for the price of an sm58 it is almost unbelievable the quality of microphone you get, they're rugged and are very difficult to damage - which is a great start.
My main choice for buying an sm58 is that they're seen as industry standard, which I assumed would mean decent quality, but nothing remarkable. Even during recording in a small studio I decided to bring it along just in case, and it proved to be better than the studio's own mic (cannot remember the name, but wasn't cheap).
Like the other reviews say, you can't go wrong with an sm58!
EL MEJOR
lo mejor en el mercado, en cuanto a mi opinión.. una calidad super fiel , un diseño super fuerte. super facil de ecualizar , le doy 5 estrellas
It's like a tank that you sing into.
Stick me before and audience with a guitar and a microphone and watch a reasonably dry human turn into a heaving sweaty mass that attracts comment, electric shocks, and very occasionally, badgers.
Over the years this seemingly endless deluge of musically purged sweat has EATEN the front grill of my SM58 so that it now looks like something pulled from the bottom of the ocean.
It still works!
I've dropped it, melted it with acid man-sweat, left it to rattle about unsecured in my gig box and left it out in the rain.
And it still works.
I love it!
Perfect for background vocals!!!
The most sought out mic
The Shure SM58 is one of the most recognisable microphones in the world - and for good reason. It is the main stay of many a hire companies microphone hire stock. Practically unbreakable, and if you do manage to drop it from a high stage / skyscraper, you can also buy a replacement pop shield. Very suited to rock, or other musical styles that need powerful vocals. Make sure your singers lips are touching the pop shield to get the best results, though, unless they have very good mic technique. The proximity effect (increase in bass when you sing or talk close to the mic) makes this important. If the singer is a foot away from an SM58, the chances are they will sound thin, and you will also have gain before feedback issues....
Just what you need
Perfect for vocals, clear and crisp. A classic!
This mic has been a standard in recording and live applications for many years. It delivers a strong, full, clear signal, specially in vocal use. For instruments, the SM57 is recommended more often, but the 58 will do the job as well if you have to buy only one of them.
This model doesn't have an "on/off" switch, which is a con for me (but I knew it before buying). If you - like me - work by yourself, and is far from the mixing console, it may be a problem in the case of feedback or volume issues (as you can't simply switch it off when some problem occurs).
Apart from that, it is VERY well built, heavy enough to give a good feel on your hand without fatigue. I've been using for live vocal applications and has served me perfectly! Thumbs up!
Classic
What can you say about the 58 that hasn't already been said? THe most important thing to know is that you wont be disappointing with this mic.
Workhorse
Why bother with anything else. The SM58 is the standard workhorse of every touring or gigging musician. Virtually indestructible, good warm tones this mic has earned it's place in the Rock 'n' Roll hall of fame
Its a classic for a reason
This mic is great for live and even studio work at times. It's solid and will last a life time even if given a rough ride! If you're in a very very tight rehearsal space you might want to look at something with a narrower pattern to get less pick up from other instruments but that's the 2% of time I would opt for something else.
what's to say?
Industry standard mic. does what it says on the tin. Nuff sed.
SM 58 WORKHORSE!
Although it isn't the best mic out there ,
it provides an outstanding quality!,
