DO you need to read a review?

It's the 58. What more do you need to know?

Extremelly durable, very good sound, reliable, cheap, resellable, iconic.

Still, since you're reading a review of this mic, you may actually not know about it. So keep this in mind:

It's a dynamic vocal mic. It's for singing live, or maybe tracking a guitar amp if you absolutely have to. It's good for having it lying around in your homestudio for vocoder use or recording drafts. It's NOT for studio recordings.

It's good for what it's made for, and every mic has it's use.

Remember: Vocals, live, and maybe taking notes.

My Shout mic

This mic is loved by everyone that does sound and is an industry standard. For my this has become my new shout mic as it is built like a tank therefore i decided that it would be idea to be used anywhere and travel with my everywhere i go. I would recommend this mic to anyone starting out singing as it will likely outlast you they are built to last although not the best sounding.

The old king of mics?

This is the most famous mic in the world. A standard on vocals on every stage in the world. If you are thinking to buy something else a little bit cheaper of around the same price, don't do it! Just buy a 58 and it will last you a life time (or even more).

Big name for a reason

It's such a solid microphone. Works for so many purposes. If you screw the top off then it works like an SM-57. I think every studio needs to have one of these as they're so handy.

Staple mic

There's a reason this is the most popular, mid-range mic. Sounds like you'd expect from Shure mics, and it feels sturdy as well.

Shure SM 58 LC

Use - As an occasionally gigging musician I use this 40 times a year (includes rehearsals).

Sound clarity is excellent and it is built very strongly. To my horror I knocked over mic stand when it was 2 weeks old - leaving a big dent in the cover. Thankfully was able to remove cover simply and easily and re-shape it back to (near) normal. Performance was entirely unaffected- which was a major relief.

Highly recommend. You get what you pay for - quality, reliability and robust.

Good as always

Shure SM58 always keep the quality. The microphone is not expensive and it has a good frequency response. The sound is very clear. I find the microphone very easy to work with. The only minus if the singer has a lot high frequencies "S-s-s" in the voice than the microphone will enhance it. But stereo graphic EQ can easily fix it.

Famous workhorse

Durable and reliable, with great sound for live applications and some studio applications too.

Best mic I've had

Okay, so I haven't had that many mics as I'm a beginner wrt singing, but I've had a few and this is by far the best. I like the solidity of the design and just by holding it, you know it's a quality product. It seems to be a no nonsense product designed for one thing only, which is to pick up vocals well. This mic doesn't even have an on/off switch, which is why I bought it (one less thing that can break).

The sound is very good and it's quite good at rejecting pop sounds, however, it will pop some if you're really close (read:lips touching).

My friend recommended this to me (he has several) and this was definitely the right choice for my studio. I wouldn't hesitate using this on gigs either.

A classic.

This microphone is a classic for on stage vocals and their is a reason for it. It's durable, great sounding and I have never had one fail me.

"Never had one fail on you? You're crazy!" Well naysayer, I have dropped one of these bad boys from a fourth story window. Not only did it work afterwards, it barely sounded any different. Ever since that day I have used these mics live.

No matter how violent your vocalist is, this mic will hold the line.

Classic

What is really left to say about a Shure SM58? Everyone, literally EVERYONE used this at some point for something. If you're a male singer between any aspect from rock to metal, and you never used this microphone, I'm sure that the Shure SM58 (any version) will surprise you for it's price. It is not a coincidence that whenever you hear the word "microphone" your mind pictures something like the looks of an SM58.

Classic shape, very flexible voice handling, massive housing, a really good grip and feel,it's practically a cheap microphone and it is a LEGENDARY one. What else so you need? If it was good for Alice Cooper, The Who, Iggy Pop, Korn, Maroon 5 I'm sure it will fit the needs of most musicians.

This is the second one I own, and only because the previous one was stolen, and I really don't have any cons to say. It's a good mic since it was first made, and it's still a very good one.

Must have!

This is the single item of musical instuments that you are most likely to encounter among professionals all over the world. And it is so for a reason. It is the AK47 of microphones, you can drive over if with a car and it will still work just as well. The sound is immortal, even if there are lots of mikes with much better specs, the character of the SM58 is unmistakeable and revered in the business. For live situations it is indispensable. It should be the first thing you buy as a musician. SHURE also deliver the very best in support. No cons.

Incredible mic!

I bought the sm58 as my first live-performing microphone, and it blew me away. Its construction is so resistant and comfortable to grab, and has a classic look to it (wich I really like). I use it as a vocal mic and it sounds terrific!

Although I mainly use the sm58 as a live-performing mic, it works really well in our little homestudio!

Totally recommendable!

Shure!

Bought it as my first mic, and did not stay disappointed. there is a reason why this mic is a industry standard. Be it singing as a part of my bands backing vocal, or amplifiying instruments(acoustic guitar, cajon) Shure does the job on all this fields excellent. Definitely a highest recommendation.

Great

I use it for recording vocals exclusively. Sounds great and works well with my setup. It's obvious why it's an industry standard. Haven't tried using it live yet, but I doubt it will cause any problems.

Such quality for so little money

This is a pro grade mic. I get great results with voices, drums, guitars and trumpet. Can't recommend highly enough. This really is a top mic. I have 3 of them...

A no brainer of a Mic

Looking for a solid, all rounder, stage, studio microphone, versatile and very reliable? What else than the Shure SM58

The little plus here is the switch on top. Some people find it annoying and can "break" however I find it practical when you get feedback somehow, a flick of a switch and your off.

I have used this mic in home studio recording and live sessions, it always delivered a good reliable and true sound. Quality is what you expect from the leader, solid and heavy. I would recommend this no problem and I would buy it again without thinking.

Quality and Reliablability - what you expect

I have 2 of these and they have had a great range of singers using them. They have been used with a small PA amp/mixer and more powerful desk + amp setup. In both cases they have produced reliably good sound and I have no bad comments to make about them

Great mic, great quality.

This mic looks the part and is, it even feels good quality.

I play bass and sing lots of harmonies in my band, and this mic performs well. What more do we need.
