The only one for the job ...

The best headphones for eng use.

good and inexpensive monitors

I bought them last year for my bedroom studio setup, and they fit really well. Not like i am any sound expert, but for me they sound great: everything is very clear on all frequency spectrum.

Overall quality is good, didn't have any issues except for questionable way of headphone folding. Maybe it just me, but cable that goes from one ear to another always gets crammed while unfolding.

As in case with any full-sized headphones, i can't wear them longer than a hour or two. Althought they are fairly light, my ears get weary anyway.

pros: good for studio, cheap

cons: not good for casual music listening, kinda clunky design

The Immortal Classic

Pure sound without any embellishments - exactly what it really is. Allows you to hear many nuances. But as for me, it's uncomfortable to sit in these headphones for a long time, personally, my ears start to hurt (I mean, even without a sound).

Did not like the sound

I am confused about this headphone. Way overhyped with positive reviews.

Sound is bad for casual listening, no soundstage, no details.

Frequency response: somewhat bright, loud bass, some mid frequencies sound cut out.

I did not like the sound from both mp3 player and soundcard: m-audio mk2.

The coiled cable is out of fashion, gets tangled up.

One side stopped playing in about a year, did not even bother sending it in.

The only thing I am impressed about is how it is still overhyped with positive reviews... It is very old headphone, available since 1999, and its previous model sony v6 is even older... I took some reviews for a word that headphone technology does not change all that often but I think these days you can find much better for cheaper...

Maybe I will try some modding this headphone someday, changing the cable, etc. There is a lot of info on this headphone online, maybe I will try to revive it somehow. Maybe I need a dedicated amp. But for now, I have to give a bad review because the sound is not great.

lIGHTWEIGHT STRUCTURE ..HEAVYWEIGHT SOUND

I bought these after buying a pair of Audio Technica M40X . Both were for use as home studio monitoring and field recording with a Zoom H4n Pro (Black) . I found the ATM40X Very heavy, hurt my ears and had quite a lot of bass. So i bought the Sony MDR-7506 and found them more pleasing to the ear and a lot lighter on the ears physically and way more comfortable.

That said the structure is a little feeble and the small wires protruding either side are an accident waiting to happen. The coiled cable is great for getting across the room but the weight and the fact it's not detachable isn't great.

All in all i'm happy with them they sound great especially in use with Sonarworks Reference Software . They work really well with the H4n Pro shame the cable is so long in that respect but you can always coil it up in your pocket while searching for sounds in the field.

If your looking for studio or field recording Cans on a budget these are for you and you can't go wrong with that price tag!!

Great Quality, Great Price!

I bought one pair in 2016. I've had no problems in 4 years time!

The only thing which wears off quite fast is the headphone ear pads. So, you have to replace them once per couple years time. But of course it depends how often you're going to use these headphones.

Brilliant product for it's price! Must have!

Great monitor headphones

I use it for transcribing music. I had the Sennheiser HD280 pro's before but these Sony MDR-7506's are much more comfortable. Can keep them on for hours without feeling any discmfort. The sound is very neutral which is what you want when transcribing music or recording and mixing. There is a reason why MDR-7506 is considered the industry standard of studio headphones. A lot of quality sound and comfort for a cheap price.

Great headphones

Amazing headphones for music producing. I read reviews about how clear the sound is and turns out sound is really clear. I can hear a lot of small details I never thought existed in music

Best Headphones For Mixing (For ME)

i Have used these for many ears haha. Tried other brands and these just have the best high end and a good low end to boot.

Great headphones

Great headphones, feel durable, very comfortable, sound flat. Originally thought they were quite bright, but not so much anymore, I may have gotten used to them or a break in mellowed the highs.

The only con I have is about the external wires, the lead is clunky, heavy and not detachable, though at a desk it's not as bad as I thought it would be. Also the wires to the L/ R cans are thin and exposed. These are easily serviced if something goes wrong.

EDT250V Velour ear pads fit and feel much more comfortable than the stock pads.

Phat not flat headphones

At work, I use Sennheiser DT-25 headphones and they are great for giving me a good sense of the quality of the audio that I am capturing during video recordings that are quite often broadcast across Europe. I bought the Sony MDR-7506 headphones to use in a home studio situation both for recording and mixing. What a difference! The Sonys are, in my opinion, giving me lots of lows and highs with a noticeably scooped middle. In other words, they are not flat. Nevertheless, they sound very detailed and give me all the sonic information I need. I use them to both record voiceovers and to mix several channels of audio for video and I feel confident, now that I've got used to them, that I can add/subtract the required frequencies in a mix. As we get older, our hearing gets worse as we register fewer high frequencies and possibly more muffled lows. These headphones attempt to give back what nature is taking away. Well done Sony. I hope that I can find some spare parts for them in years to come.

Good Monitoring Headphones

These are my go-to headphones when capturing audio on movie sets.

Excellent reproduction of the signal- the bass is a bit boosted but I find that this helps me spot issues in the recording. They provide adequate isolation from external sounds. Portable and sturdy, I can see why they are an industry standard.

Only issue I encountered is that after prolonged use they can be somewhat uncomfortable and painful to wear (but maybe my anatomy is to blame).

What else ?

I use the headphones directly plugged into my Line 6 POD HD 500, in order not to get kicked out from home by my family :)

This product is exactly what you expect from a very good headphone when you play music.

You just want to ear whats'comig out of your instrument, without any distortion or cosmetics.

PROS :

- Weight

- Amazing sound

- Comfort

- Price/benefit ratio

- Wire lenght

CONS:

- After an hour, your ears will get a bit sweaty (time ti swith to your favourite combo :)

Conclusion :

Go for it ! It's a must have !

No wonder these where the standard for quality headphones for so many years. Used to be so pricey back then. I would buy these without even looking any day!

Nice quality, good sound and comfortable fit

I bought these to play mt digital piano without bothering the whole house. The sound is sooth and they cancel most other noises, and are extremely light and comfortable. The build seems also to be very sturdy, and the cable is very long, allowing for movement.

Mids are very clear, not too strong on the bass but I understand that is a useful feature for sound production.
