an upgrade worth having

the purpose of this monitors is to tell you the truth and that's exactly what they do, i am using them to "train" my ears to be sharper and more accurate and they are wonderful for that purpose.

in my case is for voice and vocal monitoring and they pick up a WIDE spectrum of sound and deliver it as advertised.

Pros: honesty of sound and good build quality, as well as look good in my opinion,

Cons: price can be an issue , but they are an industry standard .

And as mentioned, comfort is not their strong suit. after about 30-60 mins you feel ear fatigue and have to re-adjust them.

Pro&con: the non detachable curled cable ,is conformable while recording, but in editing after a while you feel the weight of the bulky cable on your left side.

conclusion : BUY! its the best education that your ears can get if you wanna advance your skills .

The classic never fails.

A good sounding pair of closed-back over-ear headphones. They have a very good, deep, powerful, and punchy bass, an excellent and clear mid-range, and a better-than-average treble. However, their bass is a bit on the heavy side, but without being muddy or heavy which I actually like!

Very detailed sound

These are not "fun" headphones. They are amazing for mixing and have a detailed and flat sound. Maybe a bit on the bright side. A warning though, they will point out any weak points in both your playing and your setup.

It's nice that they fold into such a small package, but having to fold them every single time is a bit of a pain. Time to buy one of those glass heads my dad used to own in the 80's to put them on.

Amazing hi-fi quality. Sometimes especially singers will complain about their headphone mixes not being bright enough. This solves that, sometimes the drummers might complain though but never had that so far.

Excellent Headphones

I was driven to buy these headphones only from their reputation.

I was not disappointed. Excellent reproduction of the highs and a very objective reproduction of the lows. These headphones are not flattering any sound.

Pros

Great Sound. Very good Isolation

Cons

They do not seem very solid.

Also they have the cable attached on the headphones.

Very good product for a very good price

This product is used for a home studio. For sure my best headphones, though I don't really have experience with more expensive ones. I Use them to write in my daw with my helix for guitar and for my audio interphase. Very comfortable, and durable, (I have them for almost a year now. Thats a keeper!

My all time fave headphones in the studio!

I have been using these MDR 7506 in the studios since the 90s and they are so comfortable when I was doing long hours sessions. This is my 2nd pair as I have started recording vocalists in my home studio. Great pair of headphones for almost non coloured reference.

The only drawback is the the ears pads will disintegrate in time and you would have to purchase the replacement, which in my opinion, is not cost effective at all.

Absolutely recommended!

No wonder Sony have been making these headphones for 30 years and still going as the (pro) world loves them so much. I think there is no better buy at this price. The sound is very detailed with fantastic clarity, enabling you to hear each element of the music positioned exactly in the space around you. The frequency response is extremely linear. Deep and accurate bass, crisp mids, realistic highs. A practical result of all the above in my personal experience is that I can be confident of my decisions on the use of various sounds, their volumes and positioning in the mix. But I also love just listening to music with them.

On top of all that, they are lightweight as they should be and the pressure they apply on the head (around the ears) is ideal, so they can be worn for hours without causing discomfort. The passive (!) sound cancelling works wonders, secluding you completely from ambient sounds and adding to the clarity of the music.

If more people got to know these headphones, a great number of other models/manufacturers might go out of business - at least as far as those people who like realistic, studio-style sound are concerned...

Great for the Studio

I bought these after much reading and finding out they've become something of a standard for monitoring and indeed apparently famous producer Andrew Scheps admits to even mixing with them.

For me I wanted something a little higher quality for monitoring and rough mixes (late at night :-)). I have had several pairs of Senheiser HD201's and I love them. Such good value for money, but I thought I could get a slightly better sound. I tried various other much more expensive products and they all left me disappointed.

They come in a decent box with a service manual card that appears not to have changed since they starting making these in the early 90's. I personally find that reassuring.

Sound wise the 7506's do have more width and detail. Simply put. I feel for the price you get something good but still reasonable. The quality of the materials is all nice too.

The other thing I appreciate is the curly lead (if only it were replaceable, but no problems thus far). Working in a home studio your constantly moving around in your chair, reaching for and setting things up. Long straight leads get caught in stuff more easily, especially the wheels of my chair! This lead is really nice and compact, long when it needs to be and stay out of the way. Almost perfect.

Last postiive thing to say probably is that the isolation. which is better than my Sennheiser HD 201's, so I get less bleed from it when recording acoustic guitars etc.

My only gripe with them is that they are a bit tight on the head and ear, and so are no quite as comfortable as some other models. But it's not really bad as some I've had. If you have a habit of taking them off regularly when you're not actually monitoring, that really helps.

I would recommend these highly yo both people with studios large and small and also hi-fi enthusiasts who want a decent sounding pair of cans that won't break the bank.

Great headphones especially for the price

I'm using these headphones primarily for critical listening of music, doing monitor mixes, and some at home mixing. I hear stuff in familiar music I've never heard before it's really an honest sound.

I would only like to have a detachable cable, but it seems solid anyways, and for the price especially it's great.

People often describe them as sharp and hard to listen to. They are a bit boosted highs but they don't seem as sharp as people describe them, certainly not sharp enough to disturb me while listening to music.

Overall I'm really happy with these.

Quality sound

This is an all 5 star product.

The sound quality this thing gives is really amazing, and the price is reasonable too. Not ideal for casual music listening.

Clear, defined and loud

This is the perfect set of headphones in terms or price and quality, as far as I'm concerned. I use them for monitoring when I'm recording, cleaning up my vocal tracks, listening to mixes when I need to be sure I hear everything, etc. The build quality is also good, but I haven't been punishing them so, I can't vouch for their durability in a DJ environment.

Classic Gear for monitoring via tracking

Very nice hp. Comfortable seat's on head. Working over 2-3 hours can cause sweting becous fakeskin ambushers. But its anyway very good gear. Isolation good, minimal bleeding via recording.

Incredibly detailed and transparent picture. Hear all the fine nuances, transients and artifacts. Slightly sunken middle and a tangible rise in the upper part of the spectrum. Due to this and achieved this incredible amount of depth the clarity. Periodically riding my bike listening to the music, only the iPhone is unable to pump 50 ohms. I am happy )))) Must have
