StudioRTA Creation Station Reviews
Centre Point Of A Studio
I bought this as the centre point to the studio and I am definitely impressed. Do not be put off by the cheap price at al.The quality is exceptional, good weight to it and definitely feels strong enough for the equipment.
The height of the main workspace and also the monitor shelving is just right.
As a suggestion I'd try building this in the opposite way to the manual (which suggests building the main desk bit upside down and turning it over... BE WARNED this is a heavy item and for myself I wasn't risking flipping the full desk over to be upright after seeing the delivery man struggle even removing it from his van!
Hardly Believable
The desk is easy to assemble and solid. It's been the hub of my studio for a year and a half and comfortably houses 4 rackmount processors the screen and monitors on the top tier and 3 Elektron units + mouse and keyboard on the main desk bit.
Great studio surface
I am very pleased with the studio station,it was very easy to construct, the instructions were easy to follow. It was easy to take out of its box, which is strong, and could be used in the future for transport or storage. The creation studio Is made of very strong materials which makes it very solid. It allows for an easy work flow, the top self is just perfect for my monitors. It has wheels which makes it easy to move ,and it has breaks also to hold it in place
The only complaint that I would have ,has to do with leg room, the bottom self I find a little limiting when it comes to leg comfort.Having said that I would still recommend.
Fantastic desk for home studio project.
I purchased this studio desk as the core for a home studio project. I previous used a unit from a Swedish furniture shop (you know the one), but it was clear that all my synth racks were not protected and my equipment was all over the place. When this desk arrived it was very well packed and I am very glad to say came with instructions that were so easy to follow. Despite being MDF, the build quality is so high that you would think it is real wood. The design is clever providing many features that make storing equipment easy and safe. After construction which took about 30 minutes, I started putting equipment on it. The top shelf is big enough for 2 x 22inch wide screens and a pair of KRK rokit 5 monitors. The rack is solid and can take 8 1u racks easily. It also leaves a gap to either store books\discs or place a synth workstation. The space in front of the rack area is big enough for a large synth (Roland Fantom G6 or 7) but the 88 key version would struggle as the height of the synth would obstruct the lower racks. The bottom shelf is a life saver, allowing mass storage of everything. The unit comes on rubber wheels which can be locked in place (front ones). Another point is that there is a cable shelf at the back which has drilled holes in. This means you can gather cables together and zip tie them to it and make the back of the desk very tidy. So in summary:
Pros: Well made, lots of space, enough for 8x1U racks, looks very professional, can be moved around and locked in place, great cable tidy a back.
Cons: Wheels are rubber and split in half and had to be replaced (probably due to weight on desk). Rack area is fiddly to put racks in as you have to screw them in (no quick clips). 8 racks is pretty limited and you quickly fill them up.
A Great Workstation For Any Studio!
I took delivery of my creation station last week and i wasted no time getting it put together. Opening the box everything seemed of excellent quality and very sturdy. putting it together took no more than 30 minuets and only required a Phillips screwdriver. The instructions where very clear and easy to understand with good pictures. and once i had put it together i started setting up my equipment on it, which looks great with the built in racks. and the cable tidy and tray and the back keeps everything nice and tidy, which i like :). the bottom work surface has ample space for most any application, i have 2 towers and a sub on mine ans it all fits and looks great. The main work surface also has ample space too, enough room for a master keyboard, interface and more! And i was surprised when i was able to fit my two 22" PC Monitors and 5 inch monitors on the top shelf. All in all an awesome bit of furniture at and amazing price!
Very very good!
very very good pack. undamaged unscratched! thank you!
great bit of kit
Had my eye on this for a while & looked at many alternatives to bring together my modern studio set up & to include my old rackmount synths but in the end this is just unbeatable for price & quality. My only gripe was that the base section came with a large scrape across the visible surface,
Project Studio Workstation
Studio RTA has good features for the price,a good amount of room for rack units
A word of warning the screws to attach the castors are very short and moving this unit
when it is fully loaded with Heavy Active Studio Monitors may caused the the castors to break off as happened to me.
Probably worth replacing said screws with some bolts.
having said that it still a decent unit for the price.
Great desk... but
Overall it's what I wanted and need. It's somewhat of a disappointment though that the work surface melts when you put a coffee mug on it. Not melts as in real damage, but it leaves visible rings on the material which will NOT come out/off anymore.
I also had to 'macGyver'a few screws as they would not fasten properly.
Not bad enough to return, but losing two stars on quality and one overall because of it.
The price is stupidly low for the quality you get!
The desk was fairly straight forward to put together, i'd say allow up to 2 hours to assemble it. The instructions and tools provided did make it very straight forward.
The rack spaces placed in the middle of the desk make work-flow allot more ergonomic and practical. It allows you change setting on your equipment whilst still remaining in an ideal listening spot.
I would say keep in mind how big your screen is when purchasing this product. Anything bigger than a 32" screen you will need separate monitor stands.
The bottom part of the desk is great as it means my computer (mac pro 2012 edition) is raised above floor level lowering the risk of a drink on the floor getting to the computer.
The desk space is surprisingly large, meaning I am able to have a midi keyboard and a small mixer in front of me as well as a mouse and keyboard. AND STILL having enough space for other things.
You can't beat the price for this quality, design and build. If you're thinking of getting a desk suited to production, this is 100% the one to buy.
Mixed feelings about this one... but good value for money.
Whilst the desk shelf is an ideal size for my computer/monitors, the rack mount didn't accommodate my 8 channel audio interface - which is rather confusing as I assumed they were all pretty much standardized size-wise.
The bottom section of the table is a few inches too low for my needs, and none of the chairs I've used seem to allow for a comfortable sitting position relative to it.
I've managed to make it work though, and in terms of space the main body is just right for my keyboard, extra units/synths etc (a fairly modest collection I might add)
Fairly easy to assemble, but slightly wobbly.
Next time I will ask my carpenter uncle to build me one for my birthday!
Great value!
For anyone looking for a decent, well priced quality studio workstation then this has to be the deal of the century!
It was delivered exactly on time (I'm based in the UK) so was specified 3-4 working days.
Very heavy unit so be sure when it's delivered you have an extra pair of hands especially if your studio is upstairs! :)
The quality of the unit is second to none, easy to assemble on your own and took me the best part of an hour and a half and it was done.
The work surface is large enough for a decent size 61 note synth/controller which leave just enough room for your Keyboard/mouse. But you could have a mixer there instead if desired.
The 19inch rack spaces are a very welcome edition that rounds this unit off very nicely. definitely a must buy!
Excellent buy for the money
I looked at other desks and was very taken by this one. So I bought it. Have to say I'm not disappointed the quality it is very good , sturdy and plenty of room to place computer , speakers and audio equipment. It is a well laid out desk. I have 2 amplifiers on the lowest level as well. Don't read reviews that state it is not "real wood" ....what do they expect gold plated screws as well : great value for the money. You can do a lot , lot worse , I'm telling you. Easy to put up,one screwdriver and a Aln key provided. Took me about 40 minutes and I really dislike putting things together as the instructions are usually hopeless. these ones were good. Cinch really.
A beast
This is a really nice studio desk. It's very handy to mount your racks in front of you when mixing. It's really really heavy, much more than I had expected. Great for the price.
Creation Station
This is a quality product. Quite easy to construct. When completed you will realise the actual size of it. Only complaint is the incompatibility with power macs. The heaviness of the metal case does not sit well with the softness of the MDF used to produce the base shelf. This along with the strip will easily be damaged by these Mac systems. I have 2 which has reduced the base to crumbs!!
Fantastic Desk
Purchased this to replace an Ikea desk. The quality of the desk is superb and has a good solid feel. Easy to put up with very good instructions. Racks fit great with my outboard gear. Best quality desk anywhere on the market at the moment. Highly recommend.
A very functional desk
This desk has served me well for various production purposes of the years. Have now removed the upper half and it sits a little too high for comfortable screen viewing (27inch). Nonetheless, the larger work space is now much more worth it. The lower platform sits a little low, and it it were to be higher and include a tool out keyboard tray, then this would be ace. I purchased one of these trays offline to install and never looked back.
The diagonal sides make it a little difficult to squeeze in with other furniture - however i just put monitor stands in the wasted space.
Excellent workstation
This is superb, having 2 x 4U racks is a great idea - the only design downside I can find is the lack of keyboard try - if it had this it would be perfect.
It was very easy to build, and the fit and finish is great. The laminate has lifted slightly on one edge on mine, but it's not getting any worse.
StudioRTA Creation Station
Bought this to consolidate my mixing desk and speakers and replace an office desk that all my kit was on. The physical size is just about right - not too big or small. Build quality is good. The speaker shelf is exactly the right height for monitoring. Good value and would buy again.
Great Desk
Great desk, 8 built in rack units. Just about wide enough for 2 screen and monitors. Main desk unit could be higher though.
