Superlux HD-681 B Reviews
Great headphones for low price
Great headphones. Sound they produce is very good. Ear gets a bit hot after 30 minutes of use. I won't recommend them to be used on a road beacuse they don't seem to be that rigid. But for home use are fine.
Nice headphones for the price
These headpohones are an ideal alternative for home studio headphones. The sound quality is not excellent, but it is very good, especially considering the cost of these headphones.
Ideal for small home studios!
No not really good
I bought this headphones because I read the comments.
Well, let me say that I am not that happy about them.
They don't sound really good as you can read in the comments, they are not that confortable in my opinion.
I think it's worth to spend more in order to have more
good
good quality for the price
Great headphones!
Wasnt expecting much from this brand but meeen they sound really great. Nice lows and mids. Fits your head very nicely, feels great on your ears thanks to well padded earpads.
Try it out! For this price its a steal!
Highly recomend it!
Very NICE ;)
Very cheap Studio Headphones whit high quaity
Flawless.
Perfect. Very comfortable, great sound quality and well built.
I use these for guitar practice into the headphone output of a multi FX unit, or into a PC for music & gaming. Works great for both uses.
No fuss, decent monitor headphones
I was surprised at the quality of these, and they give a decent honest sound. Ideal for monitoring, but I aslo use them for my old school CD walkman.
Great for the price
Good sound and not too loud which is good for your ears. Very comfortable on the head and surprisingly good espescially for the cheap price. Good quality cable and its a bonus that it comes with the 1/4 inch jack. The carry bag is ok but it would be awkward to get the headphones to fit inside it but hey thats a minor complaint.
Super Headphones
I bought this headphones to use in stage with a roland TD-30. My drummer was very happy with the comfort and sound quality. He tried different headphones but said he preferred the Superlux HD sound and comfort over the others.
I never told him how cheap was the superlux, compared to the others headphones, so this was kind a blind test for him.
For the price, you just cant go wrong!
nice headphones
using them in studio. good quality for the price range.
Considering the price I am happy overall with the performance of these studio headphones. I live in an apartment and can end up playing bass guitar in the early hours of the morning and therefore I mainly use these headphones to practice quietly. I find that they handle the lower frequencies quite well, especially when I am using fuzz pedals or distorted bass effects.
They are also quite capable for mixing, even when there is a range of instruments being recorded and played back at once.
However, when wearing these particular headphones in the studio for an extended period of time, they can get quite uncomfortable around the ears.
Excellent sound, very poor build quality.
I've tried most of the cheap Superlux headphones and in my opinion this is the best sounding one by far. Also the most comfortable ones. I've not been too happy with any of the others, mostly due to harsh sounding highs.
These ones though, wow, I'm actually amazed that such great sounding headphones can be made this cheap. They're not flat or precise enough for mixing and being an open model they are obviously not suitable for tracking but simply for "fun" listening they are great! They do leak a lot of sound, like all open models, so not suitable for listening on bus/plane/work/etc.
So what's the catch? The cable! Like all these cheap Superlux headphones the cable is unbelievable poor quality. They ALWAYS break at the joint to the jack plug. And it's VERY difficuly to solder a new plug because the wire they use is the thinnest kind you'll ever seen and breaks at even the slightest touch.
If the cable had been better, or at least of the removable kind, these headphones would be AMAZING value. Unfortunately it's hard to recommend something that will probably break within a few weeks, or even days. A bit sad really, because they sound like 100 euro headphones.
There is a simple trick to make all of these cheap Superlux headphones last longer though: Stiffen the jack joint with a generous amount of duct tape. It won't look good but it's the only way to make these headphones last longer than a few weeks.
I can't recommend something that's more or less designed to break but they could provide excellent value if the duct tape trick is used from day1.
BUY THESE HEADPHONES!
I cannot recommend these headphones highly enough. The sound quality is mind blowing. I use these to play drum synths with, and also to practice with another guy as we play together with instruments going into an interface and they work a charm.
Recently enough I bought a pair of crummy iPhone jogging headphones that broke in one day. The price? 25 euro... 5 euro more expensive than these badboys!
As a drummer I can wear these while playing and jam along to mp3 files, great sound reduction.
No cons that I can think of, I have used studio monitors worth 300-400 euros and honestly if there is any difference in quality it is negligible. These are top quality headphones, I could not recommend them any higher!
High price-performance ratio
I own a Beyerdynamic DT-880 (250 Ohm) and orded this one for a member of my family.
For this low-price it's pretty amazing how this headphone performs. The sound of the "B" version of the HD-681 offers an almost balanced sound. I liked it way more than the "EVO" version, it's more comparable to the DT-880 I own.
The comfort is quite okay for a short amount of time, but it would get annoying after more than 1 hour (because of the plastic feel of the ear pads and warm ears). To improve this, I'd recommend to buy different earpads, e.g. the AKG K240/241/270/271 or SHURE SRH 940 velour ear pads.
The quality is "okay" for that price, the headphones look cheap but they will do their job at home.
All in all I'd recommened these one over any <100¤ headphone I know.
Good product for the money
I bought these headphones for home studio use and for there money they are great value.
The built quality is decent enough as I have dropped / stretched / pulled them many times and still have had no issues.
My only complaint is that sometimes after long sessions of wearing them my ears can get quite hot under the pads and that can be a little bit uncomfortable but at this price that is something I can put up with.
good value for money overall.
Superlux HD-681 B
i use them for mixing, they are pretty decent with great value for money ratio
pros: value for money
cons: none for the price
i would suggest them easily
Great sound, confortable to wear
The bass response is good, i use them for my home studio.
The interesting thing is that I can hear very good what happends around me when the sound is off with the headphones on.The quality of the soound is very good and I am happy with my purchase.I hope they will last long.
Superlux HD-681 B - GREAT
First off, these are durable! I have already AKG K141MkII, and compare this two i must to say Superlux HD-681 B hold on its own very well especially when thy cost a lot cheaper. I used these to check my work from professional monitors and I'm surprised when I check with these because they're so flat. For the price, there is no better product! For a headphone to sound this good for such a low price is nothing more than a bargain. The clarity of music and separation of instruments is something i was greatly pleased with, especially when listening to soft rock, ballads or similar music. Naw on comfort - the elastic headband makes easy to find the correct position. The standard ear pads are very big and don't apply any unpleasant pressure to my ears. Thy OK for wearing on head for a couple of hour or so...maby even more - i just don't use headphones more than that..feu hours then pause..
Overall they do sound really great, by it..thin nobody will regret!
Nothing spectacular!
Nothing spectacular out of this headphones. I bought them to have a spare one and sometimes I use them for my artists for monitoring and gets the job done. For this price is no brainer to have one in studio hanging around.
