Superlux HD-681 B Reviews
For this price, TOP!
Nothing to complain. You get good headphones for a little price. No competition in MHO. Either you would get worse quality or higher price. This ones are just the best you can get at the price segment. Same price will just buy a set of headphones for an mp3 in Carefour :-)
The perfect 1st set of studio headphones
I've used these for the past two years for everything from budget mixing, recording monitoring and everyday listening.
Pros: Amazingly clear balanced sound. Comfortable for long sessions etc. Long Cable. Surprisingly sturdy. No issues after 2 years of use. PRICE !!!
Cons: Semi open back, Sound leakage + background noise is very annoying as it makes them almost unusable on the go. Closed back option would be amazing.
For the price these are amazing. You will not find anything as good in the price range. Awesome 1st pair of studio headphones for anyone starting off.
Brilliant set of headphones
I will have no problem recommending these whatsoever.
The sound is brilliant, at least to my ears. It's quite interesting experience to hear every single piece of a song and this headset definitely makes things easier.
I use them for recording and mixing plus I usually take them to work when I know I'll be bored. Pretty solid piece of equipment, For an year so far, there are only few small tears on the plastic band but that's probably due to the lack of serious care when transporting them to work. I basically throw them in the bag and go. However everything is fine so far. For that price, even if you break them as people said bellow me, just get another one and you wouldn't feel the loss.
The only negative I could think of is that they make my ears sweaty after a while but I can live with that.
In conclusion - just get one.
Great value for money
Using them for "silent" gigging at home, headphones out from the guitar mfx<->notebook.
Been using them for almost 3 years now, headphones still alive.
Pro's: very bright, quite flat sound. The ear pads are soft and make you feel comfortable even if wearing them for long (side-effect for the pads: in summer you feel really hot wearing them, but that's already collateral damage :D ). The phones come with a 1/4" jack adapter making their use universal.
Con's: Sometimes you could hear a buzz on low frequencies (bass guitar). Can only be heard in a certan range, somewhere between 50 and 75Hz. The buzz definitely comes from the headphones.
Conclusion: Amazing quality headphones, especially if you are on a budget.
Superlux HD-681 B
Very good headphones for a very low price! These headphones are very comfortable to wear for multiple hours and the sound is nice. I use these headphones mostly when I play bass through USB-audiointerfaces (and in my opinion they work very well for that purpose). In addition, these headphones were considerably better than my 80? Shure -headphones (which seem to have poorer sound quality and start to hurt ears after using them for more than an hour).
The first pair I bought lasted for almost two years after which the cable started to have some issues (I probably rolled over it with my chair for a million times). My second pair has lasted that long already since I've been a little more careful with their handling. Next time I will probably buy the version with the switchable cable (HD-681 Evo).
uncomfortably bright, lacking in bass
The headphones don't give the sense that the music is in the room, it sounds like the music is coming out of speakers on my ears. The bass is far under-represented for my taste. Overcompensating elsewhere, there is an uncomfortable spike in the higher frequencies. I have tested them using some of my favourite music to reach these conclusions. That said, these phones are well better than the lot of other brands of headphone at this price point. I give 4 stars for quality due to the price/performance ratio, and an overall 'passing grade,' but I can't keep them unless a magical gnome would appear and mod them for me.
Supersound
I bought 5 pairs of these for my band to use with a headphone amp. To be honest, I couldn't have asked for better value for money!, the quality is amazing and even though I was unemployed at the time, I could still afford to get them. Great quality and great value.
Quality on a budget
Very balanced frequency range with the exception of being slightly bright. Great for mixing, superb stereo image, coherent and budget friendly. I owned a pair of AKG 240's priced at ?89 and these sound every bit as good. Only notable difference is they're slightly less comfortable whereas the AKG's were so comfy you didn't know you were wearing them. I totally recommend these headphones though! What a bargain!
Totally does the job
Good set of headphones. What I like the most about it is its comfort and seems not expensive for its quality. The carrying bag that comes with it is a nice touch. Perfectly functional and does the job nicely. I use it all the time in my home studio and when I want to just listen to music or to play with only one instrument plugged in.
Good headphones set with a great sound quality
This headphones set presents gives you an excellent sound quality. I love specially the bass sound with presence and clean, and I can achieve this with this headset. It is perfect for a home studio, recording, mixing or for DJ's. I am very happy with the quality of the sound this set returns, because I am very picky with the quality of the sound and with these headphones I can feel all the sounds present in a song very clearly and clean.
Affordable, good sounding, durable headphones
I was looking for sturdy, good value, price/performance headphones for everyday use - gaming, movies, listening to music, playing digital piano and electric guitar.
And that is exactly what I got.
Durability is a quality which is very hard to judge from pictures and reviews normally don't focus on it.
Since I intended to use this pair as "bedphones" e.g. I sleep on them as I listen to music - durability is of paramount importance.
So far they have held very well for the 4 months I've had them which is quite impressive considering the abuse they are going through. The headband appears to be made of steel reinforced plastic which reduces the stress and doesn't appear to be a part which will break down anytime soon. The joints which hold the speakers are rotating, which evens out the pressure. A constant issue with "bedphones" are the pads which usually come off or break down from friction and pressure. The pads on these seem to be attached very firmly. And I don't see any cracks in plastic as of yet.
And they sound pretty good too without distorting the music - which is exactly what I wanted.
Good Headphones for the price
These headphones have a lovely sound quality for the price. They're used in a radio studio environment and are a prefect balance between quality and price, as we often have to replace physically broken headphones each season due to 24h hard use.
Would recommend!
excellent deal
These are the best headphones I have ever heard under 300 - no exceptions. Sure they look dated and are not the most comfortable but the sound the reproduce is amazing. clean sparkling highs and tight focused bass (but still enough to shake the drivers). highly highly recommended, I might have to order another pair as backups!
Superlux HD 681 Dynamic Semi-Open Headphones
These headphones have been talked about in various places across the web for the past couple of years. Why? Because they are cheap, and sound great.I purchased the SuperLux HD 681's after reading many reviews and looking for an entry-level Hi-Fi headphone. I am not an audiophile, but these headphones have plenty of bass, even when driven with my old HTC mobile phone. The HD 681's are quite comfortable on my head because of the AKG-like suspended headband, and the ear pads/cups are very large and don't push on my ears enough to cause discomfort, even while wearing glasses. Sound quality on the HD 681's is good - great bass response, but the mids & highs could be sharper. These headphones are built quite nicely and feel very sturdy. However, I can't resist mentioning that they look a little cheap and plasticky (compared to the AKGs that they reflect).
Overall these are a great value, great sound and pretty comfortable after the foam shapes to your head a bit.
For that low price a must have!
Hey,
i bought that headphones back in December 2013, and i have not a single regret about it.
I must admit I do not use them for anything like a studio/professional use. I prefer using them für gaming purposes, especially Battlefield 4 when I am playing with my mates on Mumble or something like that.
I use them with a Creative Sound Blaster Z which makes the headphones really sound good.
I compared them to the Superlux with the red ring, I liked the sound of the 681 B more, because it is more balanced in my opinion. The red ones seem to set the focus on the bass more.
If you prefer a more neutral headphone for a rally low price -> here you go.
The only negative point is that the comfort of the headphones is not the best, after several hours of gaming they do not get really uncomfortable, but you feel the pressure of them.
Picky headphones
I have AKG's too, but wanted to get something cheaper since my kids like headphones too. I got these and I like the sound quality. Build quality is good. They do make my ears sweat a bit and I have to position the headphones on my head with precision.. There is a small zone of best sound.. if the headphones move a bit, the sound gets muffled. Got my moneys worth.
Matchless headphone which costs almost nothing.
The Superlux-Headphone is not comparable to a 200€-Beyerdynamic, but for its price it is unbeatable.
The basses are bright, but the mids an highs sound nearly neutral so it is possible to mix music with the headphones.
Anyhow the strength of the Superlux is the usage with a digital piano. It is my favourite headphone for playing piano on my expensive Kawai. The trick is that I own Beyers and Shures for my home studio but for any reason the Superlux sound better.
Even for Hifi-Usage it is more than a good choice.
Only the build quality is not able to keep up but you have to keep the price in mind.
Home studio solution.
Superlux HD-681 B just do what they are designed to do. Good representation of the sound spectrum.
At first I thought they not exactly reproduce low frequencies, but then I listened to my mixes in many places, i found if it sounds good on these headphones, it's sound good anywhere. For this, they are simply awesome.
I have a big head and small ears. Funny, but true. So for me it's very important my headphones to make me feel comfortable with, and HD-681 just do it.
I've tested this phones with many interfaces and they work well on all of them.
Now I'm using HD-681 for tracking vocals. They are closed type and all vocalist are happy with them.
You can't go wrong with HD-681 B.
good value for money
For the price, it's absolutly excellent. After trying one I ordered 3 more. It gives excellent results combined with the ZOOM H2N
Great headphones!
Very low cost, very good sound.
It sound not bad that AKG k240 for my opinion.
Of course not so beautiful and comfortable as AKG, but sound very good.
May be not so beautifull
A very successful model for a very, very cheap.
