Superlux HD-681 B Reviews
Affordable Mixing & Mastering headphones is always good!!
Over the years I have had many sets of studio headphones. But until recently when I bought the Superlux HD-681 I really did not know what I was missing!
These headphones are superb, Extremely comfortable and there is little or no input leakage due to the well made pads surrounding the ears. The general make up of the headphones is strong and they feel very robust in comparison to other branded studio headphones I have owned. And best of all about the superlux range is the price! Very well priced and they even come with their own protection bag for keeping them safe when on the move or when not in use!
Very impressed 5 stars
Superlux HD-681 B
I was looking for a budget set of headphones to mix on for some projects for college. It was for the advance mixing portion of my degree. I was recommended these headphones by a classmate. I found them to be quite neutral and had a great level of dynamics through all of the frequency ranges. I found them to be quite truthful. I also found that in the low ranges they did not have an overly prominent bass response. I have used them when working 'on the go' with my laptop and at home in my studio. They were used on five projects for college ranging from Rock to Acoustic music and I feel they were more than adequate for the task. They have a sound build quality and also a screw on jack adapter. For the money all in all I would give them 5 out of 5

For the price, possibly the best pair of mixing headphones for under ?100.
A well known company repackages and sells them at three times the price, so they're a steal for under ?20.
Highs are a little to harsh, and the bass response is somewhat lacking, but if you want to get decent studio headphones for mixing or tracking then you really can't go wrong with these.
(Edit)
After having a pair of these for around a year they're hands-down the best pair of studio headphones for under ?100 that you'll find.
Good, balanced sound
They aren't called HD681b for nothing, with the 'b' standing for balanced. If you don't like the HD681 type of sound with its big bass and strong top end, this headphone addresses that big bass.
Many headphones are made with a 'hump' in the mid bass area which gives them a fullness that many like. However, headphone purists tend to like a flatter response and the HD681b addresses this. It has less bass than the standard HD681 which gives it better clarity. Perhaps if you listen to acoustic and classical music more than rock based music, then the 'b' version may well suit you better.
With less at the bottom end, the mids become perhaps a little more focused and the headphone seems less 'coloured'. However, if you like a strong, healthy bass, you may not like the sound of the 'b' version.
In all honesty, these Superlux headphones are at such a good price, I ended up buying both and switch between them, depending on what I am listening to.
Just like the standard HD681, they are a bargain for the sound that you get,
