its small

I bought this mic to try out if a small microphone would be handy.

for the small amount of purchase it does the job but is not the best small condenser

available.

there are no volume pads or filters on it but it can handle loud inputs.

it sounds a bit crispy and i use it sometimes if someones brings a spare/remote hihat. only advantage is the fact that its small and it does for instance fits in between cymbals to pick up the ride sound.

it gets the job done live but i definatly do not recommend it for any recording.

Great crisp and bright sound with this mic. Use it for recording hi-hats and acoustic guitar, found it is much better suited to hi-hat and it was lacking a bit of body with the acoustic. Very happy with the hi-hat sound with it.

One powerful little mic.

For the price of this little mic there really is nothing to complain about. It picks up sounds within its frequency range very well indeed. I bought it to mic up live instruments which it has proved excellent for Banjo, mandolin, mandola, ude, violin, viola and cello, autoharp and dulcimer. I've even used it for vocals a couple of times for which it is also good. For guitar however I would not recommend it as live in become a feedback nightmare and in the studio it's too tinny. This is also great for recording symbols as you would expect from a microphone which comes in packaging specifying it as a mic for high hat. I love it's small size and tidy and robust construction. I am confident that it will serve me well (within it's limitations) for many years.

Unobtrusive problem-solver

I bought this thinking it would provide a nice supplementary sound for my piezo-pick-uped acoustic guitars. If you like the bottom-end of a piezo but hate the quack in the upper mids and the synthetic higher frequencies, a little condenser or dynamic mic can be a good investment, adding sparkle and capturing harmonics and transients with an accuracy a piezo can't.

This mic starts to cut off below 200Hz; it's a small diameter with a short barrel, so small, but it's solid-feeling. This combination means it's well-suited to my purpose, and I've used it further away from the source, where it was important to use something less obtrusive, together with a camera clip/gooseneck/swivel head.
