tc electronic Flashback 2 Delay Reviews
very bad sounding pedal
the pedal has lots of feature but the sound is so bad
My favorite delay pedal
The sounds you get from this pedal are incredible, especially considering the low price. Lot's of settings to play with and a built in expression pedal for just about any kind of delay you could possibly want.
TC DELAY
I bought the TC reverb and was so impressed that I went back for this. Stereo and highly adaptable- yes, it’s a few years on the market but it is easily still an artistic and expressive delay.
Download tone prints or use as is - both are highly accessible and easy to do.
Need it
You need it in your pedal board, this one is a must
Very good pedal for starters etc.
This little blue thing does what it is made to do, to give your guitar sound a delay and so much more. I'm no expert but it works 100% for me and my ethereal-ambient guitar treatments. :)
What a great versatile pedal
Great price, does loads and you can save presets.... Perfect!
tc Electronic Flashback 2 Delay
Easy: Plug and Play!
great value for the money!
Very good product as always
Very much what I expected. Sturdy build, great sound!!!
Jack of all trades (in a good way)
TC Electronic Flashback is already a classic. It's handy to have around. I use it on my pedal board as an end-of-the-chain buffer, as a signal splitter from mono to stereo into my wet stereo amp, as a looper and, of course, as a delay. And there are toneprints that can turn it into a chorus/vibrato or a reverb type of thing. And the foot switch is also a expression controller - yes, it takes some getting used to and it's not the same as having an expression pedal, but it can be useful from time to time. And you can connect a foot switch for tap tempo option if you need it.
Flashback might not have the high fidelity sound of Strymon or other more expensive delay units, but it offers so much.
Great delay pedal!
Extremely versatile! You can dial a lot of sounds and you have the option to download presets online. The Mash foot switch function is unique and amazing.
Build well and sounds great - the delay you need on your pedalboard.
Versatil
tc classics!!
if you're looking for a not very expensive delay pedal this is it!
Overall great , I would consider buying this with double its price
Lots of tones and modes, nice handling, the build quality is great ..
Happy with this purchase
Good Packing
fast delivery with quality pack
I love it! It's great for synths
I bought it to use together with Behringer Odyssey. I'm glad I did because I love what I hear. They both complement each other. Flashback has several good delay modes. Ana, Dyn, Mod and Crys are my favourites. They really work well with synths, and the sonic palette is so huge. The sound quality is simply superb.
As someone working only with plugin delays, I can say that hardware is way better and more fun to use.
From classic delays to strange, ambient textures - Flashback allows for all of this.
I still have to explore the last three free slots. I just imported 3 random presets, which were fine but very similar to those that are built-in. The entire TonePrint thing is yet to be explored by me, but I'm already delighted with this pedal even without it.
I had only one issue with updating firmware: I had to use a laptop because the USB chipset on my desktop pc couldn't recognize Flashback at all. However, the PCI card in my PC, with additional USB ports, can recognize the pedal, too (I found later that it works). It's quite strange, but before the firmware update, I couldn't even bypass this pedal.
Now everything works as intended.
I highly recommend this pedal to anyone who wants a great delay/rever/fx pedal for the synth. Lots of fun!
Yes! Its is ...
VERY GOOD :D Lets just say I have sent back the new B.SS 200 delay back and kept this one instead. I needed a very good sounding pedal and I sure would keep the B.SS 200 if it sounded better.
That been said I really like the TC Flashback 2 for the tone print especially the Tape and Drum echos! I basically play only the 3 custom setting one can load from the Tone Print which is a gold mine!
If you need the tap tempo you can add that via the editor. If you want to tweak more go to the editor. However Im more of a Tone Print downloaded from my iPhone.
Stereo in and out of course a plus! Mash is also very cool especially on 2290 as its like a freeze option to hold the chord or note until you release it again. Yeah very nice. Goes a bit too crazy on Analog and Tape so one must be careful.
The analog dry through is lovely and the delay tone is really playing tight with the dry signal and not against it. I cant stand delayed parts to have unnatural frequency to it which doesnt work with the dry signal. Happy to say TC Flashback 2 sounds very good in that department. A keeper if you want an all-rounder delay pedal.
Feature packed, pleasant sound, great price!
I'm using this pedal on a bass guitar, so please keep that in mind as you read the review.
Delay models:
Some very pleasant delay sounds to play with, I particularly enjoy the first 3 models (2290 for a super clean digi delay, "analogue" for going crazy with the feedback options, and "tape" for squeezing out beautiful mellow reverb-like sounds).
I don't really care for the other models, I think they are fund to play with but not really useful on a bass, although I imagine for a guitar player that would be a different story (although the "crystal" is crazy cool as an "organ" up-octave sound when delay is set to zero, too bad you can't mute the input sound at the same time).
Still, the first three delay models already make the pedal really worthwile for me.
I would really prefer to have some more "toneprint" slots instead of having the "reverse", "dynamic" or "mod" delays for example, but that is really a personal thing, and considering this is not a bass specific pedal, I can't fault TC for that.
Toneprint:
If you are familiar with TC Electronic's "tone print" line of pedals, the "feature packed" part of the review title should come as no surprise:
the amount of crazy effects you can squeeze out of this pedal's chip using the toneprint feature in the custom slotgoes way beyond a "delay pedal": for example, you can turn the pedal into a pretty decent chorus, tweak a huge number of parameters of custom delays, including assigning custom functions to the pedal controls, or get some crazy envelope/modulation effects out of it.
There are for sure a lot of limitations in what you can customise, but still, I think TC is already giving us way more than what you would normally expect from a digital effects company.
Mash:
The "mash" feature is interesting (you can use the pressure sensitive button like if it were a -limited- expression pedal), and really opens up some options, although I ended up switching the pedal to "disable mash", so I could use the "tap tempo" feature for the button instead.I think you can have the best of both worlds if you get an extra footswitch, but in my case I didn't care that much about "mash" to justify that investment .
Looper:
The looper is pretty basic, I guess you can use it for practice, but not really practical besides that since there is no "undo" feature. It is a very cool addition for that purpose though, if you don't already own a looper.
Summary:
So, overall, I think this is a great value for the price, considering it covers so much ground.
Is it the best sounding delay pedal? No, but I think you would need to spend at least twice the price of this pedal to get there, and that would be for a single sound.
I am still finding new things to like about this pedal every day, so a big thumbs up on this one :)
Amazing
I always loved TC stuff. This pedal again proves to me that they are amazing company. The quality of build and sound is just amazing. The only thing i am not a big fan of is that when changing through different delays, the knob doesn't lock in place firmly, it is quite floppy for my taste. But that doesn't mean its bad. Also, mash effect is quite loud, and i don't know if I can lower it down a little. I really hope so
It changed my solos
After buying this delay pedal I started playing my guitar twice as much. So many options. Such a great sound.
More than a simple Delay Pedal
This is much more than a simple delay pedal. It is a multi effect if you learn how to use all of its features. Both modern and classic delay sounds/adjustments can be found in this pedal. The looper is a very nice toy to play with. Also there is an app that you can download and use it to store hundreds of sounds made by famous players, all free.
Many combinations that take some time to try and use. The usual high quality by tc electronic. Highly recommend it.
