tc electronic Flashback 2 Delay Reviews
Good Pedal
I had the Flashback 1 and upgraded to the Flashback 2 for the MASH switch which is very intuitive to use and has a lot of fun sounds.
Also the added toneprint slots are very useful. By using the toneprint editor you can save a tri-chorus and tremolo sounds to the extra slots. Add to that the looper function. This pedal can serve several purposes.
For flashback 1 users, this edition doesn't have the strum tempo feature that was present, you have to have the tap tempo switch.
Many features, excellent sound
I have tried several other digital delays but always come back to Flashback. One thing that can be advantage or not is a number of features - types of delays, knobs and possibility to upload more settings via toneprint. At the end I just use maybe 2 or 3 so a simpler product would probably suffice for me.
Wow what a pedal
I had never bought anything off you before but I was amazed by the excellent service and fast delivery. The sound from this pedal blow me away. you can create your own delay pedal sounds via a PC using the TonePrint software and the USB cable or use the app to beam pre-made TonePrint sounds. What more do you want from a truly brilliant pedal.
superb deal for what you get
so many options with a built in expression option and 3 slots for custom delays, and also a looper. It's just great
Best buck for your money
There are some better delays but not in this price range.
This pedal is just perfect for the price: best value/price ratio.
You will have so many features and you can add more via the 3 toneprints you can use. You can download from their website the delay you like, copy delays of famous bands,...
And if you need a looper instead of a delay: this feature is also possible.
So many possibilities, one of the most versatile delay pedals you can find on the market.
If i needed a second a second delay for a new pedal board: without hesitation I will buy a new one
tc electronic Flashback 2 Delay
I use this pedal in mono with the delay running into itself using the two delay engines into each other.
Wonderfully simpe user interface and great delay sounds to boot.
The mash switch is not something I use but a nice to have for sure.
Great delay pedal
This is in my opinion one of he best Delay pedals out there. the Dynamic feature is a key feature of this pedal and as it is convincing from slap back to long glam delays, it does anything you need from a delay stomp box
Great pedal
I bought it as my "standard delay" pedal, to contrast my Avalanche Run by EQD.
This thing is loaded with useful features, like a kill dry function hidden inside the pedal, 3 tone print slots for user made presets, the pressure sensitive switch that allows for almost an expression pedal like. There an option to connect it to a PC though USB to really get into the options or download artist made presets, and you could also "beam" presets from the tone print App on your phone thought your guitar pickup (that really blew me away).
It's great for your every day delay needs if you don't have a good delay built into your amp or you're not using something like an AX.
Used for synthesizers playing leads, pads, etc. Would recommend to anyone looking for a budget delay effect.
Great affordable pedal with lots of features
I have been using the pedal now for some time, and I still haven't found every feature you can do with this beast. It can do things varying from a simple delay/echo without all the whistles and bells to some innovative sounds with the Toneprint features.(reverse,delay+chorus,etc).
You can also connect it to the computer via usb which is a nice extra.
One thing I don't really like is that it is sometimes hard to control the time of the delay, as there is no indicator to how many ms your delay is at, you have to match it by ear.
Pro's:
+Affordable
+Good build quality
+Lots of features
+Tone quality (very transparent, doesn't necessarily add 'color' if you don't want it too)
+USB connection
Con's:
-Difficult to control timing of delay
Great delay pedal
This pedal provides versatility and great sounds! I use it on my board, and wherever I put it, only good sounds come out. The mash function can get you crazy things!
Pros:
- Many many sounds
- If you spend time on Toneprint, even more sounds
- Mash function
- Tap tempo (with a firmware upgrade)
- Stereo sound
Cons:
- You have to spend some time on Toneprint if you want to use some features, which is not the best app out there.
Nevertheless, this is a great delay for any board.
Very decent delay pedal!
A very multifunctional delay pedal. In my experience one of the best in the market. Personal adjusted delay functions can be made via computer and uploaded via USB or even by using your phone. Your phone can transfer custom delays via de strings of the guitar into the pedal... Never saw this befor but it works great. In terms of digital technology, TC is on top of their game and ahead of a lot of competitors.
Definitely a no-go for analog delay lovers!
Did not enjoy it
This pedal came , tried it out and send it back. Way too much possibilities for my likin'.. I.was'nt fond of the sounds it produced..
Takes a lot of tweaking and turning the knobs to get a (for me) acceptable delay effect....too much settings i don't need. 2 months ago i ordered a simple Chinese delay for 18.- This gives a perfect slap delay sound...i could'n find that on the TC Flashback during my one hour try-out.....with all the possibilities it's got you'v need to remember all the settings to get to the same sound....very inconvenient for me. No way to store you'r favorite sound unless you go in the editor and store it on the pedal. Still you need to bend over and turn knobs if you want to recall that sound. Might be excellent if you find use for it. I did'nt like it! PS: And what a fucked-up effect is this 'mash'....dunno how to ever make use of that. It's on their reverb pedal (which i like a lot) aswell...and it sounds exactly the same as on the Flashback delay...useless....
Awesome pedal
I've got this as I wanted to get more experience with delays. This is my 2nd delay pedal lopped in before the first one on my pedal board. I have to say I am amazed of how many cool things you can do and the best part is that you can actually customize 3 settings if you connect it via USB to a PC, by default these are set to mute so be careful if you hit the pedal a bit sloppy (it might mute it)
The Mash option is hands down one of the best features but it requires a lot of playing until you get the hang of it..
(Almost) Perfect!
What a stellar pedal, really. Amazing.
Only minor gripe is - it would be great if you could have an integrated tap tempo function and the mash available at the same time, I know with the new firmware you can toggle between mash and tap using the toneprint app, but I don't want to have to go into the app via USB each time to change this setting. It's amazing what they've done with a single switch, so this isn't really a complaint - to be clear, I am blown away by the pedal overall.
EDIT: I would like to add that adding a tap tempo switch has been... quirky. It seems necessary to either invert the wiring at the Flashback end or insert the jack only half-way. Being lazy I have opted for the latter solution, which works because I rarely move my pedalboard around, but for others it may be problematic.
As expected
Does exactly what it should.
Great
Vert easy to use, and great sounds.
its even better with the firmware update
know there is a tap tempo within the pedal. which is great!
Variety of delay options
If you like using delay pedals then this pedal offers a wide variety of delay settings. Even a few psychedelic efx mixed in.
Flashback 2 is an incredible and versatile delay pedal
Flashback 2 is an incredible and versatile delay pedal.
All the different delay settings of the flashback 2 are great and well thought out - however, after a while, I ended up mostly using two of the seven main delay settings: the analog and tape delay (which is not a negative opinion by any means, just my personal use). The three toneprint settings are also a great feature as you can mold them whichever way you like on the Toneprint App, adding to the versatility of the pedal.
The mash function is quite innovative. Personally, I only use the mash in the analog and tape delay settings as they are more vibrant and unique. The other settings with the mash did not quite appeal to me. Nevertheless, the mash function is certainly a strong feature and/or a bonus to this delay pedal.
The flashback 2 pedal is built quite sturdy and, measurement-wise, it can fit any pedalboard quite nicely. I would 100% recommend this delay pedal to anyone looking for affordable, but also good-sounding delay pedals that have several types of delay-settings at their disposal.
The flashback 2 is one of the best pedals by tc electronic and one of the best delay pedals in this price range.
Woah the features on this
This pedal gets 11/5 for features. I feel like it will take ages for me to learn all the different magic you can do with this. This is true for the presets as well, but mostly about the toneprint options. Toneprint + mash button = infinite possibilities. I spent hours trying stuff on this pedal and I just kept finding good settings.
Really inspiring pedal with great delay sounds. I consider this a no-brainer buy if you need a versatile delay
