Does the job

One of the cheapest, not one of the best, but very capable. Would buy another.

Surprisingly good

My first PA speaker for a small rehearsal space. I use it for vocals, keyboards and bass guitar (going through a mixer first) and will add electronic drums later.

Wasn't expecting much considering the price. I was surprised by the sound quality. Not the most refined details but really well balanced in all frequencies. It does its job very well. I even find myself listening to music on it. Having relatively high standards for hifi gear this speaks a lot for the quality of this speaker.

I may buy a second one later even though one is more than enough for my rehearsal needs.

Not bad at all but also not great

Nice EQ, easy handling, good price, a lot of weight and not so much power.

Great to use

Bought this and a The Box passive monitor. Work a treat with nice clear sound. They are old school construction so are hefty to cart around. Great value and check that you get the right cables to connect them up.

Good Quality Speaker

Been using the box for vocals in our rehearsal room.

We are a 2 piece drums and guitar with vocals

I run the vocals through a boss VE 20 effect pedal.

The box is loud enough happy with the product and you can't beat the price.

the box MA120 MKII - useful hardware

It's not a Hi-Fi system, of course, but I think all the necessary frequencies are good to hear. I bought these two pieces and just tried to listen to any music with them like from regular speakers, the result is not bad! Mic in and Line in can be mixed separately, so it can be used for karaoke, for example.

It's loud enough to make a little party in the backyard. It would also be helpful in a band rehearsal, there is no question about that.

If anyone is sad about the lack of TS connections, I recommend buying an adapter. The XLR seems to be the right solution for stage equipment anyway (what it is).

In conclusion, it is a versatile (35 mm speaker flange), loud, clear sounding active monitor that does not cost much.

Excellent monitor for this price!

In this price range, the box MA120 MKII is an excellent monitor.

Although not very loud, it is the least you can use for acoustic drums.

SUPER VALUE AND LASTING MATERIAL

I use it for studio monitoring(voice mainly) and for stage monitoring. It is enough to play at gigs and to tell the truth i didnt expected that. EQ is SUPER also its connectivity. I highly recommend it !

Surprisingly good

I didn?t realy know what to expect at this price .. But im very happy with the performens of this monitor . I testet with my bass guitar tru bassamp Di out , playback on monitor .. testing the output and sound from bassguitar .. Well - wow ..at this price this is astonishing .. This monitor goes fine with our PA as my monitor . Great .

Good speaker

Loud could be construed as an understatement.

Well made and sturdy. It does take up quite a footprint. Great value but don't turn it up to 11, your mom will kill you.

Good but not great

The monitor is fantastic for loud noises and to plug into your drum kit but when you use any cymbals it makes a horrible noise.

It does the job for the price

We are using 3 of them as monitorsystem for our rehearsals en smal gigs with a Soundcraft Ui 16. It is not loud, but easy to use and to set.

Decent for price point

It is suitable for the requirement, but heavy and bulky. Mic volume decent, but line volume seem under powered. Hi, Mids and low knobs OK.

One annoying thing is that I had to get an extra cable as the inputs use DI, so to plug in a drum set of piano cost me an extra cable.

Not bad for Solo but not enough power for anything bigger.

Good value for money

I'm using it at home in the basement with an Alesis DM10 Pro kit. It is also powering a Box PA M 12 Eco on the other side of the kit. I wanted it specifically because the DM10 is a pain to set up to output in mono, so two inputs were preferable, although, of course the line and mic inputs have different impedances. Will probably use this set up as stage monitors for the occasional gig that I do. They will be better suited to this than as monitors for the drum kit as it is not a fan of some of the more aggressive bass drum hits. Live the drum monitor will be a mono feed from the desk to a more powerful amp.

Pros: does what it says on the tin, decent quality of sound, effective tone controls, automatic standby available (kicks in after about an hour). Seems well enough built, it's quite heavy but easy enough to carry with the handle and using the top hat mount as another hand hold, so I don't see this as a negative thing. Has a top hat mount so you can use it as a PA speaker too.

Cons: not very loud as a drum monitor, it clips quite early on kick drum hits. Much better as a general full range system. The standby system is weird. It is automatic, operating after about an hour after the last input signal, so you get the impression that pressing the standby button does nothing. Why it could not be a simple standby switch is a little puzzling.

In conclusion it really is quite a bargain. Would be ideal with an extension speaker for a small venue monitor system, it's OK with my Alesis kit for practicing and I am please I bought it as it is versatile enough to be used as the basis of a small party PA system, stage or drum rehearsal monitor. Recommended.

Perfect for purpose intended

I had nothing but good feedback (from the musicians, not the monitors!) about these items. Good functionality and ability to be picked up and used as a small FoH PA for small meetings etc. or for their intended purpose as a monitor system for the Church bands. They were a good buy.
