Ernie Ball 2220 Reviews
Ernie Ball for life!
Been using these strings for over 40 years, just moved up from 10s to 11's as I am doing less shredding, they are the best.
Keep going back to these
For some time now I've tried different brands of strings, but in the end, I return to these. The sound is full and clear and they sound alright even when they finally start to oxidize. (I'm really lazy in between gigs)
I use these for my SG and it's a great combo.
Classics for a reason
These strings just work. Great tone, long lasting, and they have a very pleasing decay over time. Lots of strings go dull in a way that sounds just ugly, whereas these simply seem to "mellow" or "soften" in a way that is equally (to my ears) pleasing as a set of fresh strings -- albeit with a different sound.
good for rock sound
lesser bright than some other strings. Suond great for rock. On my gretsch it's just working.
great value
What i love of this strings is that they sound really bassy. The tension in my fender is really good... in a gibson scale they are more sludgy to me.. but i used high tension strings (jazz fellow).
The durability is though not too long... i am very picky when strings become rusty
The strings I use for years now!
Good strings
Good strings, delivered in quick time
I've been using these strings for one year, for many genres and styles, but especially for rock, hard rock, alternative, some metal...I really like their sound, powerful basses and nice highs in the solos (I use them on a Epiphone Les paul studio) .
Their life is long enough, I play and practise guitar at least one hour every day, and I change strings approximately every six weeks (before the sound starts to change too much)...until now I've never broken one
Pros: Good sound, endurance, price
Cons: no one at the moment
Perfect for hard rock
Lower and bold sound. And don't be affraid, your string would be broken only by robocop.
Great Strings
I Like the tone and the Durability.
Works as intended
I've been using these strings for years, no complaints. Can't compare them to others though, so I could be missing something.
perfect for my taste
... not much more to say.. part of the tone I look for...
Awesome strings - a must for touring
I give these some hammer and they don't let me down - they'll easily do a few weeks of shows playing every day and still sound great with no fear of snapping!!
Great strings
The Ernie Ball power slinky string are a great, slightly heavier gauge set of strings, especially for heavier playing styles.
The slightly thicker strings are more durable and less likely to break and they also add a bit of extra tone.
I recommend these strings for Rock, Metal, Punk, heavy Blues guitarists.
Best 11-48 set I found
I've tested several 11-48 from different manufacturers and settled on these. To be completely honest its not like there is a big difference between strings with the same gauge made with the same materials, the differences are very subtle. I found these strings to be usable on any style and any tuning of rock/heavier music!
Ready to rock and roll!
If you are into rock and roll, punk, metal, blues and similar styles where you need powerful and punchy tone Ernie Ball Power Slinky Electric Strings will do the job.
I have used these strings on various guitars over the years and I can say that Ernie Ball have been on of the most consistent in quality of their products. You literally can't go wrong with a pack of Power Slinky's...
My favorite string gauge is 0.11 but I have used Power Slinky 0.10 strings and I am pleased with them as well.
A lot of my friends and band mates use them as well, and everybody is pleased for the most part. We all know that guitar strings will eventually break at some point, loose their initial bright sound, but I am very pleased at the time it takes to break or muffle Ernie Ball Power Slinky strings.
Ernie Ball Power Slinky's have been my allies in rocking out for years and will remain so in the future!
The Best Strings For Me
I've been looking for the ideal set of strings for my Les Paul, and these strings are just perfect! They have a fat, rich sound while not being too hard to bend with. They are also super affordable, so why wouldn't I use these?
Strings for almost any type of music
I've tried a lot, always end up with these.
I played in a few bands along the years. Played rock, blues, funk. Still playing funk, reggae and jazz with the same guitar (Epiphone Sorrento).
Fisrt I used D'addario strings then I started to use Ernie Ball and I noticed that they lasted long.I have 2-3 gigs/week and I don't like changing strings very often.
I change my string once every two months, thats 33 euros/year, so the price is more than ok for me.
Very good strings
I use them on all my strats, all tuned to Eb.
They have a very bright sappy tone that dies after a week or so.
But still are my favorite strings.
Purple string pack of DOOM
I love these strings, they sound really thick and heavy when in E/Eb-Standard tuning and don't tend to break. The only real downside is that they wear in like a month so if you don't change your strings too often these strings can turn into a real pet peeve.
