Ernie Ball 2220 Reviews
great strings
These strings sound clear and articulate, as usual with ernie ball products. My favourite brand.
This is my set
This is the set I know and love, yes they're just strings I recommend trying different sets and gauges until you find what you like. Comes in a deliciously enthralling purple package!
Good Choice
I found these strings to last quite a long time without losing tone.
I live near the sea and was expecting them to tarnish quickly. Very happy with these strings.
Classic rock sound for a Les Paul
Been using these for 20 years with Les Pauls and SGs and always come back to them. They're cheap, consistent and sound great.
Proven classic
If you have a 24.75 or 24 scale guitar, play in standard tuning and like good tension, then this is the most optimal string gauge. Playing comfort, brilliant sound and long life. The strings are strong, withstand even the strongest bends and fantastic solos!
Good for Eb Tuning
Use Power Slinkies on my Telecaster for EFlat tuning and they work great.
Ernie Ball, so HELLYEAH
Since I got these, I swapped them for Ernie Ball's 2221 set, just because I wanted something a bit lighter for my Jazzmaster. But whatever tension you're looking for, it's always guaranteed that Ernie's are gonna satisfy. They're great strings, with a lot of definition and last for an appropriate time. Whenever I buy strings, Ernie Ball's are the only ones I consider...
Though I must admit that, as good as they are, the cool packaging design does play a part in my choice.
Does that make me shallow?
Great sound
These strings really provide a good sound, especially if you prefer to play on some of the lower tunings.
Good tone
Good tone but the does not last longer.
Great strings for the price
I use this strings for last 4 years. They have great sound, and feel great. Only con is they lose color pretty fast. Definitely recommend this.
It's Ernie Ball
It's Ernie Ball - these 6 bastards will finely tune your Les Paul into standard D and drop C (although, I'd go for a slightly heavier gauge for that one). C# is the lowest I'd go with these strings, but you know what you're getting with Ernie Ball.
Awesome
I Only use ernie ball
Perfect
What is there to say? I have always played 10s but have felt my guitars with Gibson scale length have felt a little floppy. The Power Slinky set has 11s to 48s so the lighter strings get more heavy without the heavy strings getting much heavier. I love the tone of the power slinkies, but it is the feel which is most improved compared to my normal 10-46 sets. For strats - to me - the longer scale lenght means the strings get too tight, but for Gibsons these are perfect to me. I know string gauge is subjective, so I'd argue that if you feel you're slightly overbending 10s but like the feel of the heavier strings - the Power Slinky is the way to go.
Metal strings
I recommend them a lot for metal and rock players.
They have this dark heavy rough sound that other strings don't have, since I play metal it fits 100%, you won't be disappointed by them :) (although I broke them after a while of tremolo picking XD)
Strings that I have used for the last 10 years
Have used these strings in various applications (from studio recordings to playing live) for maybe the last 10 years now. Simple, nothing too fancy, yet great sounding. Makes my high-gain sound to be even more chunky and sharp (have not found any other strings that would make it to sound the same). Even though they are quite thick (11-48), it is pretty easy to play, even lead parts. The only negative thing could be the durability. You will not have the same amount of freshness after playing a few weeks as you would have with Elixirs (i.e). Anyways, it is considered a good hygiene to change your strings every month or at least 2 (depending on how much you play). All in all, a pretty great pack of guitar strings, especially if you want a bit darker and heavier tone (because of the thickness). Totally wins considering the cost/quality ratio.
Get it!
Used it in my alternate guitar used mainly for rhythm. I put 11s in there because louder. Slinkys always sound fresh you know until you really neeeed to change them.
my favorite strings
i use these on a guitar with a scale length like a les paul in e flat standard tuning. I prefer my strings to give me a little more resistance and i get just that from 11s.
Nice strings
High quality! Sounds perfectly on the electric guitar! Awesome!
Good strings!
I used to play 11-52 strings on my Tele, but didn't play for 4 years so the muscle memory is gone. These are great for now, I like the tension, the sound is crisp and they don't vibrate as vigorously. Will buy again.
great quality for the price
best strings that I ever used
