Harley Benton Valuestrings EL 9-42 Reviews
Feel the attack!
I love these! easy to hold onto, difficult to lose and sharp in the attack..really improved speedy picking for me too
Excellent strings
This strings are excellent. Fort that price you couldn't expect for more. I play two gigs per week, and they can last almost as any other strings. Not the same sound, but for that price is resonable.
Good for the price.
Good for the price.
good product
I first tried this in my friends guitar and I would not believe it is for this money, he showed me the big pack that he bought in the old days while it was even cheaper and he was using since many years. I said I will give a chance since I was disappointed last time when I paid like 4 euro for a set and it was just unsatisfying.
'Valuestrings' is the perfect name for these
These strings are incredibly cheap, make no promises of excellence, but deliver a good product. They do feel cheap, and don't sound the best, but if you go through strings quickly or prefer that 'fresh-out-of-the-bag' feel then these may be a good, cost-effective solution for you.
Pros:
-Cost
-Cost (So inexpensive it's worth saying twice!)
-Sound is okay
Cons:
-Can feel a bit cheap
-Don't sound quite as good as more expensive brands
-Prone to breakage
Good basic set of strings
Long bits of metal wire that attach to your guitar and make sounds, what else can I say? Well, they stay in tune and sound fine to me. Good value for money and liked that they were individually bagged.
Used for cajon strings. Worked well.
I used these strings on my cajon after breaking the previous strings. They did the job well, although they did break quite quickly. Not bad, but nothing to write home about.
Good, cheap strings for electric.
I have been using these for maybe 15 years on my Floyd Rose guitars. They are incredibly cheap, sound well, and feel ok. (they used to feel much smoother until about 2007, when HB seem to have changed either the material or the manufacturing process - since that time, they feel less slinky, and when you uncoil them from the pack, they don't spring out straight like most strings, they retain the coiled shape.) They come in individually sealed packs, so the don't rust in storage. A useful tip for Floyd Rose users.... after every gig, I take the treble E out of the bridge, snip off a centimetre, and then re-install it to the bridge. This completely avoids string breakage during gigs, and the already-used string is much more stable than fitting a new one!
Good strings
I expected, that so cheap strings cannot be good. Nevertheless, I ordered several pieces. When I used them for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised. The sound is nice; I would not say it is produced by so cheap strings. Regarding durability, they cannot be compared with more expensive strings of other brands, such as. Daddario etc., of course. But who needs to frequently change the strings, these Harley Benton strings are the right choice.
Can't beat them for the price
Best strings for the price. They last very long, but a good stretch before it reaches final tuning stability is needed.
Soundwise they are very close to the more expensive string manufacturer companies.
Great Stings
As good as Any strings I Have Use in the Pass (and I have tried them all) at this Price you can afford to change your strings regular (as you should) and Keep your Guitar sounding as it should
Really good cheap strings
I've purchased and used many sets of these strings down the years and haven't had a set that has let me down yet, be that at home practising or out gigging.
The strings aren't the best strings in the world, but they are also a very long way from being the worst. Upon unravelling them from their individual plastic wrapping, they stay a little curly (unlike big brand strings that straighten out), but once they're on the guitar and up to tension, all is fine. They feel a little funny (especially the unwound strings - they feel like they're coated in something) fresh out of the pack, however, this is nothing a spot of Fast Fret can't rectify. Fresh on, they're nice and bright and stay that way for quite some hours of playing. Under the fingers, they feel fine and in a way, slightly softer (a bit nylon-esque) to the touch than other brands.
All in all, really good 'no-frills' strings at a really good price.
Good Value At Any Price
We all spend loads of money on strings, and the differences between them can be quite stark at times, but I can honestly say that I am a complete convert and somewhat gutted that I've spent so much on what are frankly inferior strings in a lot of cases over the years. If you've not tried these, they have got to be worth a punt. Great strings whatever the price.
Often, you get what you pay for and at this price you may easily be forgiven for thinking they are unplayable. These however, are great value strings. They're not brilliant but they are great for a student/lounge/spare guitar. They have a decent sound and a good life span on them. The strings come well presented and individually wrapped...
good value
cheap and cheerful, lose a bit of zing relatively quickly in my opinion but it all depends on your sweat acidity/alkalinity i suppose. Anyway for this price u can't go wrong, buy a stack of them!
Suprisingly good strings!
I was sure that I waste money when I ordered them, but they have nice sound, and with this price - I can replace them every month, and my wallet will still be happy! Even after 3 months, they're still not bad.
Great Strings
Fired them on to my strat and it sounded how a strat is supposed to, shrill and annoying haha, but seriously, the tone is there, they sound great and work great, so buy them up before they're gone !
Definitely good value for money!
I use these strings on anything with a Floyd Rose. They sound good and last well. They don't feel as smooth as the more expensive strings, but who cares - they're really cheap!!
Great strings for a silly price!
I get through quite a few sets of strings with 3 gigs a week. A set of a more expensive brand was lasting about 2 gigs, a set of these have laster about 4. They hold their tune just fine. I just can't believe how cheap these are!
Nice strings.
These strings are not as bright as more expensive ones but they stay in tune, sound good and bend just as any other string. And you just can't beat the price. I ordered 14 packs of these so i won't have to buy strings for a while.
Everyday strings
Harley Benton Valuestrings are outstanding for the price as they are the same gauge as most popular American and British strings but they cost about a sixth of the price.
The metal is not as good quality as top brand name stings and the wound strings feel a bit coarser under your fingers but you soon get use to them and if you brake a string then you can easily afford to change the whole set if want.
I think every one should keep a few sets in stock even if you only use the top brand strings as they are a great safety net and at this price its a must.
