Harley Benton Valuestrings EL 10-46 4-stars Reviews
Not as bad as you'd think
These strings - while not quite at the level of Ernie Ball Slinky Strings and the like - represent great value for money and a decent sound.
At 87p (at the time of purchase but now, at the time of writing up to £1.07), one could change strings every week for less than changing brand-name strings every month.
If you are strapped for cash, storing a guitar, or just really really cheap like me ;) then these are perfect for you.
these do the job
I've been playing long enough and had a fair amount of guitars, over the years I've tried all the brands.
No problems with these, they stay in tune and sound good, I've not had any breakages yet, so at this price I'll happily bulk buy with every order.
Cheap Backup Strings
These make the perfect strings to use as a backup or cheap replacement set, little to no difference between these and high end strings for me, jamming & practising will be done using these strings and probably more "pro" strings for recording, however we will see how these do!!
They work
If you are using these strings for a long time, you will end up forgetting what the more expensive strings sound like, and might start to believe that these strings sound really good, but in comparison to something like slinky's, its easy to see where the quality goes.
But that's not to say don't buy them. If you are like me and do about 400 gigs a year, and want to save money on strings then this is a fantastic way to do it! They aren't terrible. It just sounds like a dead string from about 30 minutes into putting them on your guitar.
If you want to save money, buy these strings. If you want to sound your best for a recording or an important gig, get something else for that.
Great value
Yes, I admit that they dont sound as great as exoensive strings, neither are they as long-lived. But they sound nice enough, and the price makes it possible tho change them as often as you want.
People's Guitar Strings
The first time I tried these I was rather sceptic about the quality, but after trying them on some of my guitars and having them endure nicely for some months while retaining brightness and tone, I have to say these are some of the best strings on the market and by far the top ones as far as the Quality/Price Ratio goes.
The fact they come in separate sealed bags is definitely a plus!
Not the best
For the low price this strings are great.
Some of them have a rusty feeling sometimes, but with some conditioning products you can make them playable again.
The sound is not as brilliant as D'Addario strings, but they sound bright enough for all types of music.
Decent strings
These strings are perfect to replace broken strings or just as a backup. I always have some in my gigbag because you never know...
The Harley Benton strings sound okay. Because I use them as backup they don't stay on the guitar a long time so I can't say how the durability is. Long enough for me!
Good value indeed
I ALWAYS stock these strings and use them as standard strings on my guitars that are tuned in standard. I almost only use big name brand strings when I need heavier gauges. I do feel like big name brand strings sound a little better when they are new (especially when sliding up or down the frets) but once the strings are worn in they sound great!
You won't get better strings for that price!
A pack of strings which costs as much as one single string of a well known company?
I gave it a try since I wanted to have some backups if one of my strings break while playing. So I don't need to open a new 6€ pack and can use the cheaper strings until the next complete overhaul. And I must say: For this price, those strings are great and they definitely do their job! I would not use them as a set for overhaul since the sound is not as great as if you use other, more expansive strings. But for a quick repair: Yeah, those are definitely the right choice. A also borrowed my friend one when his A-string broke during rehearsal and he also said they aren't that bad.
steady quality?
People discuss a lot about the sound of strings. I don't do that!
I bought them because they are cheap and I don't notice a problem soundwise.
BUT there might be a quality problem. Sometimes I get the feeling that I can see sparkles on my fingers after playing these strings. I didn't had this problem with another pack of them. It seems that they dissolve while playing.
Regarding the price I would buy them again.
Strings
Okay first off you will be freaked out that when you first open a packet of these strings you will find that unlike most other make of strings they dont unwind themselves. They stay coiled up very stiff. very stiff indeed. Which is a little harder than usual to string up.
But having said that i have bought 5 sets and never snapped a string, on replaced as the sound quality dies off quicker than most.
I would advise you buy these as an extremely cheap alternative to replacement string IE in the middle of a gig. BOOM!
Good for the price!
Incredibly cheap, and will make music. Only tried one set, but could find nothing wrong with it. Money well spent, but I´d rather spend my time with more inspiring strings.
Good to have on the reserve if you break strings!!
These guitar strings served me well, worth buying a few packets to have on the reserve. Sometimes you just need extra packets of strings for guitar practice - these hold up to the job well. Easier on your wallet too than some of the other brands.
Good basic strings
Good spare strings at a very good price.
valuestrings
I have tried several gauges of these strings and find them superb value for money. They compare well with much more expensive sets. They seem to last pretty well, helped by a bit of fast fret and sound fine. I have a number of electric guitars, mostly SG style and these strings have done the business and all of them.
Great strings for the value
The name says it all. Value strings. For the price, these strings can't be beaten. They have a good tone, not too dark, not too bright and they aren't easily broken. Very good quality.
Great value
Suprisingly OK quality for stunningly low price. They keep the sound long enough. Good job HB!
Cheap and cheerful
Unbelievably low price for a set of guitar strings - I have used many sets of these without problems. At this sort of price you can change your strings regularly without worrying about the cost - good for the guitar and your tone.
Value strings - says what it does on the tin!
For the price, these strings represent great value for money, they last longer than expected and rarely break. Shipping was fast, accurate and well packed for protection. Will definitely be back for more.
