My favourite strings!

Bought a set of JF344s nine(!) years ago. Still in use on my 1976 Precision. Soulful and strong P-Bass sound.

Taking into account that they indeed last a very long time, these strings are actually cheap.

Great Strings!

Have these on my P-Bass and they sound fantastic. They took a bit of getting used to as they are lighter than what I am used to, but now I won't use any other strings on that bass. Great tone and will probably last for years

Like 'em!

I usually use Ernie Ball or GHS roundwounds, but tried a set of these on my fretless in an effort to reduce fingerboard wear.

Was expecting them to be a bit of a challenge to get used to, but my hands seemed to recalibrate to them soon enough.

They don't seem as dull and thuddy as I thought they might be - can still get some fairly bright sounds out of them.

Good all round then - I've just got another set for my fretted Stingray to see how that goes. Probably with me wanting to get rid of my FL jazz for a shiny new FL Stingray, but time will tell!

Amazing strings!

These strings are phenominal! I've fitted them to Precision and Jazz basses. Each time they brought out the best elements of the bass and were a joy to play. They are very kind on the fingers and last forever. Thoroughly great strings and highly recommended. Pricey but you get what you pay for and these will last ages!

The only flatwounds you'll ever need.

I love these strings. Having tried a huge number of other flats I can say without a doubt these are my favorites. Great punchy tone and absolutely amazing feel. Some flats can get really stiff but these feel just right. Love'em.

best flats

I´ve tried all flats... the TI´s do it for me.. nice smooth touch, a bit slinkier than most others... surprising highs and great lows.. and very very long lasting. Great on precisions, but also on my stingray. Recommendation.

My favorite flatwound string

I like these alot after testing four or five sets of the JF344 and two sets of the JF345 (same strings plus the low B string). They have a woody sound in them that to me mimics the sound of the upright bass, and they are perfect tension to my hands. I know Pino Paladino uses these, check out John Mayer's Where the Light is (live album) for a demo of how these sound on a P bass.

Yes, they cost more than roundwound strings, but they will last for 10 years or more according to online forums. I have bought as many as I have to put on various basses that I since have sold or traded, but today I have TI flats on both my basses. For reference, I currently play blues, blues rock, classic rock, country/western.

Decent flatwound bass strings

I thought I'd try these bass strings after reading a few online reviews.

First impression was that they looked dull, like an old set of strings even though they were new. After putting these on my bass they gave a lovely old-school thump just as I was expecting. Slightly "loose" when on the bass it felt like I was playing a double bass, not an electric one.

Prefer a tighter string, so switched these out after a couple of months.

Sublime

I love these and have two sets on my two jazz basses. Great tone, with enough growl but still that flat wound thump too. Lower tension than man other flats but I prefer that now and makes (for me) it easier to play. You'll probably need to set up your neck after fitting but that goes for many strings.

The flat strings for me

Well if you want a great set of flats these are the ones that have worked out great for me!

My JB copy has never sounded so good or played so well, they really do make a difference.

Great strings for acoustic basses

I bought this set for my Olympia acoustic bass. The strings are quite soft in terms of string tension and therefore feel great. The only drawback is their lack of volume, but that is simply a physical problem of the light string gauge. The strings are definitely loud enough to practice on an acoustic bass without amplification. They are easy to install, without modifying the instrument.

Being flatwounds, they produce almost no annoying fret sound which is the reason I considered them in the first place. Although relatively expensive, they have lasted several months until now and still sound great. They have a nice midrange and bass content that provides my acoustic bass with punch and articulation without the nasty highend. I enjoy them a lot!

Very good flatwound strings

These bass strings are a wonderful set of flatwounds. Perfect for fretless basses. They keep their tuning well and sound as they should do. Thin strings are a must for fretless jazz music.

I am now on my second set of strings and will continue using these.

My favourite flats!

After trying a large number of flatwounds I've found that this is my favourite.

Low tension gives lovely playability and feedback.

The tone is fat, thumpy and with some brilliance. Tone is even over the whole neck.

I love them but some people might think they are to loose in it's feel.

Bought to use on a G&L Jazz

I knew the tone I was looking for on this instrument, and had the opportunity to play these strings on a Fender Precision before I made the purchase. First off, if you are dreading tense-feeling flat wounds (tenser than equivalent round wounds, at any rate), you are in for a pleasant surprise with these. I'd rate the tension as about the same as regular 45-105 round wounds. Also, the string-to-string tension is remarkably even too.

Another surprise has been that they have proved less of a problem to intonate than any other set of flat wounds I've fitted, which I'd say was a major plus.

These strings are a little more expensive than average, but they arrived in perfect condition, no tarnishing or poor wraps and only minor setup tweaks were needed to get my bass sounding the best it's ever done. Very happy indeed with these strings.

Love them or hate them

About four years ago somebody recommended TI jazz flats to me. Although pricey, I gave them a try, and have never looked back. I now have them on every single bass I own.

They are thinner than many bass strings, and quite low tension, so many people feel that they just flop around. And of course flats themselves are something that suits some people and not others.

Personally I love them, and many others do too, but still others hate them. I'm afraid the only way to tell for yourself is to buy a set.

But when you put them on your bass, don't trim the ends if you can avoid it. Because if you don't get on with them, you can re-sell them and get your money back. Because most TI users like to leave them on for years, so some people will actually prefer second-hand set to a new set.

Best flat strings!

These are the best strings I've played. Lovely quality and sound. They are a lower tension than other strings which personally I love. Expensive but I can't see myself changing them for years.

Perfectly fits a P-Bass

You are looking for the sound of the 50s and 60s, dig this strings. I have them on a Precision Bass and they are great. Even played with a pick and a little dampening with the right hand: awsome. You can do soul, blues but also rock, you only have to try them!
