AKG K-240 Studio Reviews
Simple but great value!
For a backup pair of headphones for recording/mixing or for a starter pair to dip your toe in the water can highly recommend!
Premium feel and wide soundstage.
I have read many reviews online as I was researching for a long time to buy the best quality 32 Ohm headphones I could find for the best value for money ratio. I am quite impressed with the audio quality as well as the comfortable ear cushions. I have enjoyed various genres of music with them such as soundtracks, classical music, choral music, pop, and classic rock. I will also use them as studio headphones in the future as I want to begin setting up my composing home studio and I am very excited to have them in my arsenal. The build quality feels of higher level than the price.
I would recommend them, they are well known, well-trusted studio headphones, you can't really go wrong with them only if you intend to use them as on-the-road headphones, being semi-open you might have problems if you enter a library or a very quiet place like a silent train wagon. But still someone needs to come close to you to really be able to hear the music and be distracted.
My first choice and the best
I can easily and real quick mix my songs and with a very accurate sound
Great headphones !
Really nice sound, also you can wear them for long periods of time without any discomfort! would highly recommend. They look good as well, it's a really good thing that you can replace the cable if needed.
What you expect
These headphones do exactly what you would expect at this price range.
The low end is missing a little but I really wouldn't complain. I would recommend these to anybody starting out.
the best cheapest headphone you can buy
Looking for an inexpensive, reliable, comfortable headphone for your home studio? The K-240 will not disappoint you, after few months of use I am still satisfied with their construction and quality, so confortable you will forget you have them on. Great stuff!
Great headset
If you need a comfortable and good headset with excellent sound, this is it.
Nice headphone for reference
I've bought this headphone as complimentary to the MKII. I found that this headphone good enough to get my job done. Also I can use this headphone for hours even for normal usage.
Highly recommended.
Classic headphones
I've been using these headphones for five years now. They never let me down. I bought them because I heard engineers used exactly these headphones to mix many classic albums.
These are the only pro level headphones I ever used, so my experience is limited. To me, they sound flat, with no bass or treble enhancements. They are half open, not isolating, so the sound still goes out into the room, and the sound of the room goes in. To me this works, but if you want sound isolation, maybe look elsewhere. I use them for bass guitar, and the low end seems properly reproduced to me. Very sturdy, very comfortable headphones. Recommended.
pretty comfy, warm sounding, KOOL LOOKS!
this is my 4th headphone after Sony 7506, Directsound EX29, bayerdynamic DT770 pro 80ohm.
My ears are overly sensitive to mid-high frequency, so this headphone was pretty good to my ears for music listening. However, that characteristics of this headphones come in as its weakness when it should function as a monitoring headphones.
The other headphones that i bought right before this one was DT770 and DT770 is 130 euros K240 is 55 euros. And even compared to the other 2 headphones I have, K240 is still the cheapest product. Although my impression for K240 might sound a bit unfair, I tried to write as honest as possible.
K240 omits quite a lot of detail from the mid-high frequency. it was very obvious both in monitoring and music listening, so when I wanted to pick up all the details from the sound, it was usually not there. The sound is not as bad as to be called as muddy. It's quite alright, but it's more of the warm one.
I should admit here that the fact I bought this headphones mainly for the looks. I like blue, pink, and gold colors too much. I just wanted this.
headband is pretty comfy. not the best among ones I have. but the headphone itself is pretty light as well.
In conclusion, I find this headphone very useful for my regular music listening. with a veeery slight bass boost, this one serves me very well as a music listening headphones. But I think I shouldn't recommend this as monitoring headphones.
Good Quality
I think it is good headphones for everyone.
The quality responsed the price.
Just don't over the volume!
Highly Recommended
I use it to do simple mixing (not a sound engineer) and for my keyboard. The sound is really clear. I like the bass is not overwhelming. Definitely worth the price!
Good headphones for the afordable price
Been using them for 1 year. Pretty much they are okay and have clean bass and nice highs. I would recomend this headphones to people who are live recording or people who do live gigs. The headphones are opened so U can always clearly hear anything around you..
Pros: Affordable, good locking, light, replacable cable and head paws, deep clean bass
Cons: Lack of isolation, after longer time wearing them got headache because of how tighten the pads are to your ears.
Great sound!
The sound is great! Perfect for mixing!
Really good studio phones for the price, cable needs improvement
Just as the title says, it is the best headphone for mixing/mastering/monitoring for the money, BUT!- after about 3 weeks buying it, the cable has an electric contact problem ,(effecting the left side of the unit) and no,not at the base of the jack or the 3 pin connector where mechanically it usually takes the most wear and tear. No! It is somewhere inside the cable, and I have managed to detect the exact spot where it is. The cable is not damaged at all from the outside, and I've also taken good care of these headphones, barely using -and thus, moving it much. And the 3 pin desing is although something that we might all see as a logical design choice, but because of the damn connector,I have to buy an AKG cable in this unfortunate case(faulty cable quality) ,which is much more expensive than just buying a long jack-to jack cable. I know that faults like these are bound to happen sometimes, but at least they could've integrated a jack socket instead of this awful thing! I cant affort 10 times or 6 times the price of a cable, that is just a simple jack cable! And what if I buy the replacement AKG cable,(for the extra price)and it would turn out that the new cable is also faulty-or will get faulty just as soon as the previous one? What do I do then? Do I have to switch using this pair of phones to another, just because a couple of stupid engineering decisions? Or hopefully the problem will be sold,if I get the new cable? But then againg, how can I be really sure? otherwise the headphones themselves are amazing, but everything about it's cables and connectors are just a pile of junk. Sorry to say all that.
Un must have ...
Using for playing bass. Nice semi-open headphones.
You can hear music from your speakers while practicing, which is pretty convenient.
Nice Headphones for the price!
This is my second purchase of the same headphones for second set up. They sound great and build well, I use them mously with my Mac when editing videos and with AKAI mini when i dont want to disturb others in the house, for the price they sell I could not find better. Plus good bonus they come with screw in 6.3 mm jack adaptor. Easy detacheble 3m cable with mini xlr, for me it is more then enough. Off course they can't compare with beasts like Sennheiser HD-650, but they for sure the winner at their price range, also they look like they much more expensive piece of equipment.
The bang for the $.
Very comfortable and accurate.
I am using these for years in the studio, they work and feel good.
Can't go wrong with them and if you brake the ear pads you can replace them cheap. This is a good product.
Great but to bassy
Overall a great pair. So my ears are way to bassy out of the box, but managed to EQ that.
Got it plugged into a boss katana 100w mk2 and they work great.
