Shure SM 7 B Reviews
More than enough from Gaming and streaming.
Shure sm7b are a good mic, useful to have and worth buying. The output is quite low so your preamp will need to have good gain before getting noisey. Some people on GS seem to think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, but in my opinion they are good.
Once you get a good gain enjoy giving a nice crisp sound of your voice to whoever listening.
Classic mic
I use it for voiceover work.
You see this being used everywhere for a good reason. Excellent build quality (it's heavy), sound quality, plosive rejection, and low noise.
Low output, so you will might need to pair it with something like the Fethead.
best mic i have used
its one of the best mic i have used so far and its easy to setup and if you buy a go xlr or go xlr mini you dont need a cloud lifter or fetamp for atleast streaming and talking to friends. i will recomend the microphone to people who want a clean and good sounding mic that dont pick up backround noice. i have my fan blowing air at the mic and i cant hear it in recording.
Must have!
Home studio, vlogger, professional sound engineer, commercial studio, everybody should have one!
I use it mainly on vocals, it is perfect for recording in non treated rooms.
It is a pretty versatile mic, you can achieve great results on a large amount of sources.
Use it with a db booster to have a more clean and consistent signal.
A season Pro
This really is a great microphone, i use it for recording vocals, and acoustic guitar and also for podcasting.
Its a solid build, great for low background noise, needs a lot of gain though so if its to be plugged into an audio interface for the PC i would suggest a cloud lifter of some sort to enhance the gain. very happy with this product! side note, it is quite weighty, so just check you get a good quality mike boom arm so it doesn't drop.
Everything is perfect
Overall exactly how I imagine it to be, 100% worth my money
Best mic I've ever owned
I use this for hard rock vocals and it has never disappointed me.
It's very sturdily built and attaches easily to most stands. It does require a LOT of gain, but that shouldn't be a problem for most preamps.
I've also used it during live streams and it is an absolute 10/10.
Pristine recording worth every penny.
For anyone wishing to really up their recording quality, this microphone is fantastic. I regularly give talks/presentations, record voiceovers and use the microphone for gaming... and I am regularly asked what my audio setup is because of how great it sounds (which definitely wasn't the case before - using inbuilt headphone or clip-on/mod microphones). I pair the microphone with a GOXLR, and apply a pretty standard "California smile" EQ. Within about 30-40 minutes I had unpacked the kit, run the cables, mounted the boom arm to my desk and had it set up to easily a broadcast quality... and since then tinkering and getting to know the system better it has only improved.
amazing
incredible insulation, never a mechanical noise when touching the mic.
The sound is so smooth, a pleasure to hear from this mic.
It was the choice of Michael Jackson, and I know why now.
A powerful preamp is needed because the sensitivity is quite low, a Scarlet is a little weak for podcasting. A Fethead or Cloudlifter could help in case of lowcost preamp, but with a good one, you don't need that booster. I use a Sonosax or a Focusrite Isa and that's perfect.
Just what I expected!
Great quality and sound. Now I can record whatever I like inside my non-treated bedroom studio. The capabilities of the SM7B are well-known so I won't be getting into details. I bought mine as a bundle along with an XLR cable and the TritonAudio FetHead pre amp, however, the current bundle now consists of another pre-amp. I suggest you buy it as a bundle whatsoever, as you're gonna need the extra juice from the mic pre-amp.
Shure SM 7 B
Great for all recordings with proximity effect and for podcasting.
Fantastic mic. Great for spoken word and singing. good room noise rejection and nice sound reproduction
Great addition to a home studio
Decided to pull the trigger on this after using cheap condenser mics, it has been a revelation!! No more honky vocals now!!
Does it really need a review?
This microphone is always in the list of the top microphones to have in any studio. While it's well known for its use on radio and broadcast it can be used on any sound source (especially sweet in the kick drum) and, being a dynamic, it works better than some condenser microphones in environments in which separation or noise are a problem. If you use it with voice or quiet sources, Just be sure to use a preamp with a lot of gain with it or those tiny inline things like the Triton Fet-Head, the Cloudfilter or the SE Electronics Dynamite.
Great
As expected, great vocal mic. Recommended
Legendary sound, needs lots of gain
I use the Shure SM 7 B for making videos on YouTube, Streaming on Twitch and also simply talking via TeamSpeak. I have paired it together with a FetHead to provide additional gain, as it required more than my audio interface can offer without adding too much noise.
The sound quality of this microphone is simply legendary. It also has a presence boost toggle and low frequency cut off, which I have enabled to get a bit more clearer audio from it.
What I also really like is the built in arm/stand that attaches to the microphone arm. It simply allows for better adjustment and makes it easy to use in a variety of places, for example when streaming to have it slightly offset so it does not cover your entire face.
Overall I am extremely happy with my purchase and won't be upgrading to anything else in the near future.
Great sound, smooth
Nothing to complain about with this mic. It does need the extra gain supplied by the tritonaudio fethead that I bought alongside but nonetheless beautiful sounding with, switches to suit a variety of vocals.
Great response
I love this mic, It works great for voice and instrument recording. I truly recommended. You may need a pre-amp. I am using a Focusrite scarlet and needed something to make it loader.
Good Sound, well manufactured
Sounds great and built like a tank. Good frequency response though you really have to drive it with gain. Instead, I've been using it with a triton fethead.
Main thing I don't like is that it's a bit awkwardly shaped. Not a problem most of the time until it is. In particular the xlr jack on the bottom is caused a couple of mounting issues, especially when mounted with a fethead. Not the end of the world and I'm sure it will actually be helpful in certain circumstances.
Very well made microphone.
Standard microphone in every studio. Very versatile, but does not do miracles. All in all, great microphone!
