Ernie Ball 2221 Reviews
Good strings
I used Ernie Ball 2223 and the 2225 which were too light and snapped a lot.
These strings improved everything. They last a long time and they have actually improved my lead playing. The sound is terrific but if you sweat heavilly on stage they will rust and then eventually snap.
Ernie's always been my go to string
Since i first started playing i've always used these strings but then i bought from the local music shop, not so local now that i moved 730 miles away. Always kept a pack of these in the gig bag for spares as well. Give a really nice blues tone which i love. Very durable on my SG i usually change every 4 weeks for me thats 24hrs of gig time and numerous hours of practice(well we call it practice its having fun),but we know that strings will decline over long periods. Never had and breakages from tuning like one of the comments must just be real unlucky with that A string.
My Strings
This is the best strings for my fingers .. I adore
Good classic rock strings.
Ernie Ball Slinkies are probably the best selling guitar string in the world. Everyone I know of have learned to play using these.
The have a crisp quality ideal for rock guitar at a very good price. But that's about it.
Sadly, they tend to die and lose their tone quickly.
Of course they are cheap so you can replace them at a minimum cost but it's the year 2016 and getting a coated set (or equivalent) is a better idea.
The only reason to get them is if you' re on a budget or (for some reason) you' re getting them for free. Or if you don't care for anything better.
Just the string set you?re looking for
I?ve used these strings ever since the first time I started to play guitar.
The sound is perfect to me for most styles I play. Very solid and versatile set. Also very durable and inexpensive.
I will definitely buy this product agan
Great Strings!
Well, this string is my choice for a pretty long time. I like the tone that it gives to me and I also fint it easy to play on this strings. But these apply only when the strings are new (mostly 1 or 2 weeks). After some time passes, the tone gets lost and the strings get very rusty (if it is a problem for you). Actually this might be caused by the city I live which is very humid.About strength, I have never seen any of this strings broken (I haven't seen also in 0.09 set) so it makes me feel free while bending wildly. So I purchased 2 packs of these strings. I usually use the skinny top heavy bottom strings, but i figured i would give this a try. I put the strings on and every string went into perfect tune except for the A string which broke. I then opened another pack got the A string put it on and it broke as well. Thinking third times the charm I put the third A string on and yet again it snapped. There is no fault with my guitar because after doing this I put a GHS A string on my guitar and it worked perfectly. Only twice in my ten years of playing have I had a string break from a brand new pack. This is unnacceptable.
Serve the purpose well
Nice light flexible strings that give a great clear sound but admittably aren't the most durable
For their price though they are a great purchase and my go to strings
Solid guitar strings
I have been using these strings on several of my guitars for a year or so now and so long i am happy with them.
Compared to some other brands i have used before i have noticed that these strings keep their good qualities longer.
Good strings
I reaally like these strings! They seem to last quite a bit longer than the D'addarios i used to buy, which means they sound brighter for a longer time and do not go out of tune often after a while.
Essential string
These strings were one of the first I ever tried on an electric guitar 9 years ago, and I still regularly use these on a strat, tele and ES-339. They sound great on all 3 guitars.
My other go-to strings are the D'Addario EXL-110, and to be honest I tend to buy which ever one is available at the time. Strings are a very personal thing, so my advice is to try lots of different ones and make up your own mind, what works for one person might not work for you.
In terms of feel, I think the EBs are less taut when tuned up and seem to make bending a little easier. Slides are smooth and well... slinky. Alternate tunings are not a problem and I've had fairly few string breakages so quality is very good.
Longevity: I tend to play them until they die, but I think the sweet spot is about a 3 weeks to a month of pretty regular playing.
All in all a great electric string
my favourire strings
I prefer these ones over the other I have tried (elixirs, d'addarios).
I like the sound and they last quite well. Always depends on you, how you taking care of them. But I can say once I have tried ermie balls I've never had a need to try another ones.
Great strings
I used these for alt rock on all of my guitars. Lovely strings but I've recently moved to the hybrid 9's and 10's as I prefer the thinner high strings.
Very good quality strings that last a long time and rarely snap.
The ultimate strings
These are just awesome. I've used Fender, Daddario, Elixir, among others in the past, but nothing can beat these beasts. In all my guitars (Strat, Les Paul and Artcore), these strings sound amazing and never break even if you're budget forces them to run way longer than they should.
Very good strings from Ernie Ball
I tried these Ernie Ball strings on my Epiphone Les Paul and i am very satisfied. I like sound and quality is very good. I also bought other strings from Ernie Ball. I will try those later. I recommend to buy strings from Ernie Ball because in my opinion these are the best strings.
Decent strings
The strings are versatile and they brand is so famous for a reason. They aren't as "rust resistant" and durable as some other brands. But these other strings are in the neighborhood of twice the price.
All in all, the quality is really nice for the price
Been uing em for 19 years
Don't go out of tune as quick or break as easily I think and thats across 4 different guitars over 19 years.
Best strings i have played
I went up to the higher gauge for a while and had to come back to these. They last a long time and have a lovely clangy sound on my white strat. They are the best strings in my opinion.
The Gold Standard
Basically the best strings ever in my opinion, I've tried other brands such as fender but the ernie balls always seem to handle better and last longer, I would recommend.
Best choice for Electric Guitar
After having experimented with all sorts of strings I tend to come back to these ones. They sound brilliant and keep the good tone for quite a while. They also seem to be guite resistant to sweat... My choice, recommended.
Slinkytastic
I've been using slinkys for 20 years now, and never had any problems with them at all. I'd used them almost exclusively to the point where I thought it was maybe just habit rather than preference that made me buy them. So I tried some other ones, but, the main problem was they just weren't slinky enough. So, if you want slink, these are the strings for you. I'd even argue they're just as slinky as the super slinkys, even though they rather modestly proclaim to be regular and not super.
