Ernie Ball 2221 Reviews
Reliable!
I've been using these strings for a long time now, and they are fantastic! Excellent tone, very bright!
They last for a long time if you take care of them, and for the price, you can't ask for something better!
Ernie 10's
I have always used these strings for any of my electric guitars.
Here is why:
1. Tone and brightness
2. playability
3. Long lasting
Solo or rhythm guitar.
There is nothing about these strings which will make you dislike them.
Yes you can spend way more and get different and more specialist tones or lasting ability or even better looks but you cannot go wrong with Ernie Ball reg slinky.
Best all round string for any electric guitar.
Try them for yourself I bet you like them.
Perfect Gauge 10s for me
I have over the years had a number of guitars strung with gauge 10 strings (I use either gauge 9 or 10 depending on the guitar). In this time I have tried many different brands and have found these to be favourites.
The sounds quality is excellent, they feel "just right" and I've never had an issue with them breaking too easily. I find the quality is always good every time.
Since starting to use Ernie Ball 2221 regular slinky guitar strings around 5 years ago I now use them on all my Les Paul and SG style guitars.
Highly Recommended 10/10
Great Strings
These are my go to strings for all of my electric guitars, I find they break far less than other brands and I like how fresh they stay because of the sealed packaging. Would highly recommend these strings, little bit more expensive than the daddario strings but definitely worth it.
Best for classic rock music
Eric Clapton's choice can't be wrong - great strings for electric guitar. Very clean sound, very pleasant to play. I play them on my Fender and man, they sound awesome - from Pink Floyd to Arctic Monkeys. Defenetely reccomend.
Good for the price.
These are very OK for the price. I wanted to buy elixir strings but man those are expensive. So I decided rather to buy 2 of these and in the end will have better lasting.
Recommend these strings!
great Ernie Ball
Well, this string is my choice for a pretty long time. I like the tone that it gives to me and I also fint it easy to play on this strings. But these apply only when the strings are new (mostly 1 or 2 weeks). After some time passes, the tone gets lost and the strings get very rusty (if it is a problem for you). Actually this might be caused by the city I live which is very humid.
About strength, I have never seen any of this strings broken (I haven't seen also in 0.09 set) so it makes me feel free while bending wildly.
Excellent Price!!!!
I have used Ernie Ball strings for over 25 years and have never been disappointed with their strings. I prefer this gauge but have used the 9's and 11's and the quality is consistent. Long lasting and extremely durable. Highly recommended!!!
Never Fails!
The Most Awesome Strings!
great strings and not too dear! the thicker gauge will beef up your tone compared to superslinkys and having more metal moving above the pickups will increase your output signal. i really find these strings very comfortable.
Great strings
These strings are quality, 10-46 is the perfect gauge for me when playing a Les Paul in standard tuning. String bends feel smooth and controlled, and there's just enough tension on the strings to stop me from accidentally fretting something out of tune. They're nicely sealed in the foil packaging, this ensures they'll stay fresh even when kept in storage for extended periods. I usually buy them in bulk so they sit around for quite a while. I would say these strings were medium to bright in tone. I must have gone through hundreds of sets of these over the years, and I've never had any problems - or at least none that weren't self inflicted (eg not changing strings frequently enough, or getting overzealous with the whammy bar)!
Consistent quality from Ernie Ball
As always, the same consistent quality which is why I choose these over other brands. Good price, good delivery and good packaging.
Good Sound
I'm using these strings since years and I've never been disappointed. They really have a good sound and I find them easy to play with. With a bit of care their sound can last longer.
Good Strings but need changing regularly.
These are the cheapest name brand strings. They sound clean and bright but seem to need changing far more regularly than the ddarios that i have switched to. I usually get around a month to 6 weeks of regular playing out of the slinkys whereas the ddarios last 12 weeks.
Excellent strings
I have used these strings for 25 years and they are superb. Have also tried D'dario and Fender bullets and always come back to these. Crisp sharp tone, strong and stable tuning. My fingers love them. Highly recommened. I would like to try the new cobalt ones in future but to be honest these have always been such stable performers that I can't see myself ever changing.
Buy with confidence.
I used to use 9's but these are noticably better tonal response that the 9s.
Ernie Ball 2221
Ernie Ball 2221, my standard strings for almost 4 years now.
The strings have a rich sound with a sparkling top end and a mellow low end , very balanced.
They are easy to bend and feel - as the packaging says - really slinky.
My bread and butter "go to" string. I'm sure there's plenty of cash spent in marketing these strings to make them so popular with professional guitarists. They do seem to be a solid and reliable string.
Great strings!
Have nothing but good things to say about these strings. I have never broken one and they last for longer than most other brands. Great brand with a lot of history attached to the name. Great price too. What more can be said? Buy them!
The classic Rock'n'Roller!
One of the first strings I tried were these Ernie Balls.
I've searched a warm but brilliant sound for good ol' rocksounds.
If you want to rock....or blues......or jazz... go for these strings!
That's the classic, chuncky fat, open Rock'n'Roller sound you search for.
Classic to modern sounds - no problem!
They last at least 3-6 weeks and usually won't break at normal to harder playing.
The attack is great and so is the dynamic. The stability is pretty good, even if you'll strum hardly. It let's you break up your amp while it feels really controllable.
The pickups catch up every tonal differences - we are back to the dynamic.
It brings a strong but comfortable string tension, so it will take downtunings easilly.
I play Jazz, Blues, Bluesrock and a little bit of metal with these strings on a Les Paul.
So, if you search your allrounder with all qualities or you're a beginner and have to search YOUR choice of strings - go with these
great value!
I Bought these strings to put on a stratocaster I built and they sound great. Bought another brand and the high E string snapped before there was even any tension in it... No such problems with this pack. Good strings that you don't have to pay a small fortune for.
