Elixir Nanoweb Light Reviews
Excellent!
I have been using these strings for years now. I've occasionally tried others but they just don't compare. The sound from these strings is very crisp and to top it all off, they last much longer because of the nanoweb coating.
Any other strings I have used in the past have needed changing after a few days/weeks. These can last me for up to 3 months on a guitar I play nearly daily. Fantastic product.
Very good quality
The best possible strings you can imagin. They sound perfect and last 10 times longer than other strings. Nano coat is very durable. I have 12 guitars and would never use any other strings.
The best strings I have ever played.
Super rich and clear sound and lasts a lot longer
It may seem a bit pricey than normal however it also last far longer than normal. I had a teacher who would swap them once a year on a guitar he used on a daily basis.
9.5/10
Breaks too often
I've used Ernie Balls so far, but these wore out too fast (went rusty and dull). But at least Ernie Balls lasted for ages. These Elixirs break on both of my guitars super quick - 3 sets in 1 month.
My Favourite
I have Elixir in all my acoustic's and my vintage and self built Strat's and Tele's and this particular guage on at least a dozen or more. They give me everything I want in sound and feel, for a very long time!
Fantastic strings!
Now, after trying them out for the first time, i only use these strings. heard lots of talking about their durability, and can say IT'S ALL TRUE. They really last long, believe 3-4 times longer than other strings.
As for the sound, theydon't have much treble, they sound very warm and rounded, and have some kind of ''thump'' in the midrange(don't know how to express myself, sorry).
Perfect for Sweaty Hands
My hands sweat a lot so Elixirs are the only strings that stay fresh for a decent amount of time. They are a little tougher than other strings but nothing you cant get used to.
Longer lasting strings
Definitely best quality strings your money can buy, the sound is great, the coating makes them last 4 times longer than regular strings so even though they a lot more expensive they cheaper in the long run.
Best set of strings you can buy
If you hate changing strings when they start to sound dull or overstretch, this is the set for you.
Not only they last in pure physical terms - and remain tunable and 'intonable', the sound is consistent throughout their lifetime. Even when tiny hair fibers appear around the wound strings (hello shredders) they will keep on ringing.
If you play regularly, these will last months. If you don't - they will last several years, as I can testify from experience using a 7-string set of Elixirs for 3 years.
These strings are definitely worth the price.
These strings are the best!
I have used Elixirs for electric, acoustic and square neck slide guitars. They last way longer than standard strings and have a really good sound. I used to use oth4er strings, but they really don't compare any more. Elixirs cost a bit more but you get a LOT more life out of the. Highly recommended,
Long lasting, lightweight strings!
I use Elixir Nanoweb strings on all of my guitars and love them. They feel nice on your fingers and hold tone for a very long time. I will always recommend them!
Best Coated Strings
Before I started using Elixirs, I went through strings very quickly (sometimes a set a week or every two weeks). Using Elixirs, I only have to change strings once every three months or so. I have tried alternative coated string brands (which have only lasted two or three weeks for me), but Elixir are the only brand that work for me.
Worth every penny
Do they cost more than your typical branded strings?
Yes.
Do they last longer?
Yes. MUCH longer.
Are they more consistent over their lifetime?
Yes.
Let me put it this way. Last week I bought a second-hand guitar, the seller was throwing in a free set of strings. Right gauge, well-know brand... I told him to keep it. This may sound like advertising, I may sound posh, but I'm simply writing about my own experience. I just don't use anything else (6-and 7-string guitars), as I see no point.
Disclaimer: I am really paying for all strings myself. And yes, they're all Elixirs.
Nano nano...
...close to a Mork & Mindy reference maybe, but is it all just sic-fi / comedy..?
I've got to be completely honest and say that I'm always more than a little sceptical about wonder products containing 'micro-technology' this, or 'aloe vera infused' that, so coated strings have never really grabbed my attention... until I finally got some first hand (literally!) experience.
I usually tend to gravitate towards the old trusty D'Addario EXL110's, but I fitted a set of these to a Les Paul by request of the customer and was rather taken with how they felt under the fingers.
So much so in fact, that I ordered some for my own Les Paul and yes, they work for me! Is the tone or sustain wildly different..? I'm not certain - I haven't really done a direct comparison, but I do know they 'feel' nice.
Will they last a thousand years before going dull..? Unlikely, but if they outlast the D'Addarios by one set to three (as that's essentially the cost differential), then yes, I can see me staying with them.
Try 'em for yourself!
Elixir Nanoweb Light
I have used these on my guitars for around 2 years now and would highly recommend them. They do last much longer than ordinary strings and although initially more expensive, as you won't be changing them as much, they do work out cheaper.
the best lasting strings
Have tried lots and lots of strings over the years, a mixture of coated and non coated. However, elixirs are the only strings that have a real long life. I put these on most of my guitars if I have a bunch of gigs coming up over a few weeks. they retain the zing of a new string much much longer than other strings. they are the best strings in my opinion. They do take a little time to get used to them as they do feel a little bit slippery at first. However, you soon get used to them and now i prefer the feel of them to any other strings I've tried.
Excellent log life strings
I've used these for years on my acoustic guitars and they've outlasted normal strings by a very long way. So, I thought I'd give them a try on an electric.
Sound is good, perhaps not as bright as my normal strings acoustically, but through an amp you can't tell any difference.
I am yet to see them wear out so can't really comment on their longevity, but as a guy who changes his strings weekly if they are anything like their acoustic siblings then they'll be saving me a load of cash, which I can spend on guitars and amps! :)
Just as expected - great strings, I prefer them to the non-Nano
Fast delivery, and a great product - tone is much nicer than the older Elixir. Brighter and more punchy.
I love these strings, as I might go a little while without playing my guitar and want to know that I'll be able just to pick up and play - not have to clean the strings, or more likely change them.
I do think if I was judging solely on tone, I'd go for the traditional set, but given my requirements (i.e. longer life), I'm happy with the very slight compromise. In real terms, there's very little difference. I think there's a certain "feel" that you get when you use these strings (because of the coating), but that's something you'll forget about in a matter of minutes. It's not that it's necessarily bad, just different.
Highly recommended.
Good but not great tone, coating technology means they last a long time
The tone on these is good but there is much better available for less money. Strings occasionally snap while you're changing them, so I suspect the quality of the string is not as good as the best I've tried, such as some of the DR electric sets. However, the coating technology is so far ahead of any other coated string I've tried that on average they last me far longer than anything else, and the tone stays bright for most of the string's life, unlike uncoated sets. I found these indispensable when living in very humid countries like Taiwan, but even in the UK they're worth the extra for the added lifespan, the lack of finger squeak and stickiness (a nice side effect of the coating) and the time/effort saved by not having to change strings so often. That last point is particularly helpful for 12-string players, so I can't recommend them enough for that purpose especially!
Really great coated strings , really do last !
So I have really acidic sweat , like a three hour rehearsal or 1 gig is enough to trash a set of regular strings .
Elixir Nanowebs are now my "go to" strings .
Personally I cann feel any difference to regular strings , some people think they feel slightly slippery , in my book that is a benefit as they're a bit 'quicker' .
They certainly last longer than normal strings and lose very little tone over the course of their life , still working for me after 4 rehearsals and a gig .
So well worth the extra outlay.
